This chain is a perfect stopping point on a road trip. It's good, honest food, served pretty quickly, with a pleasant but not pretentious atmosphere. Ordering is efficient and they bring the food to your table. Salads, sandwiches, soups and their apparently famous ice tea. Not sure why it's famous but it's good. So easy and relatively quick to have a meal and then head back on the road. There is a location where I live but for me there are better choices for lunches and dinners. 4/8/25...There were 4 in our party tonight We arrived At 5 pm there were 4 active tables. Ordered. I had the Justaspud with butter only. Horrible. It was not ginormous! It was long ok,skinny, shriveled, wouldn't even melt butter. It smelled like it had been in the oven warming all day. Took it back. The peel was dry like it had been open for hours. Not fluffy. I took it back and got one that at least melted the frozen butter barely. But also was not ginormous. Just long and skinny, but it was edible! I have tried and tried with this place because at one time it was my favorite place to eat. But they just can't seem to get things right. Ordering online - hit or miss if they will even be taking orders online. This last time took days for me to find that option available. Then when I finally get my order - it's messed up ... again. They included a "butter packet" which looked different from their previous "butter packet" ... it was sour cream - only I didn't realize it until it was on my spud and ruined my lunch. I come here often for the "choose two" combo option with salad and potato spud or sandwich. The food is always good. I favor the Savannah chopped salad and chipotle spud, but have tried several of their offerings and have never had anything I didn't like. They have a wide variety of offerings for their salads, potatoes and especially sandwiches. The tea is really good, too. They usually come around and offer a refill of your drink, which is nice. The service can be slow at times, due to the way things are set up. It would be nice if they had a "form one line / first come first served" style of counter rather than a "multiple line / take your chances" system where you may or may not be served in the order you arrived. The app is not that great. I use it for to go orders, but if you do the "choose two" option it does not show you what comes on the items you have to choose from, you have to go back to the menu and look as if you were ordering individually. read more

I couldn't decide where to eat last night but I wanted something inexpensive and not too far away plus soup sounded good n the cold weather so I decided on McAlister's. I was thinking about just getting a bowl of soup and a couple of side dishes but I decided to get the "Pick 2" which I had had at the other location. I ordered the Veggie Spud with some Chicken Dumpling Soup and a side of steamed broccoli. The side of steamed broccoli wasn't a very large portion but it was fixed perfectly and tasted delicious. It was actually the best thing on the tray. The soup was good enough but their soup always tastes like it's made from a powdered mix. It doesn't have a bad flavor it just doesn't taste fresh made. It was actually improved when I cut up some of the broccoli and added it to it. The baked potato was a good size for being half of a combination meal but if it had any butter I couldn't taste it and there was no sour cream either. It's hard to think of a potato as delicious when it doesn't have sour cream. The topping wasn't bad but it kind of tasted like it came out of a can or was made from a powdered mix also. The skin of the potato was tough but edible. I like potato skin so I would never leave it behind and at least it wasn't burnt like a potato I got it one of the nicer restaurants in town, Longhorn I think. The thing I liked about McAlister's best is the employees. At both locations I've had nothing but cheerful friendly people willing to go out of their way to help and checking in with you often to see if everything is okay. Pleasant employees would bring me back, and already has, even if the food isn't stellar. read more

This is by far the worst McAlisters we've been to. Every time we have come in something is wrong. Whether they forget parts of our order, mess up our order, or have our to-Go's sit on the counter for 20 minutes until we have to go ask for it. We never have a good experience. I've tried taking to the managers about these issues and it never changes. We go to McAlisters a lot. We have both worked for mcalisters for several years... you are better off taking the time driving to the one on i40... the staff and management on 34th are incredibly lazy and are very slow. read more

This just hurts to give McAlisters only one star. It started from the time I ordered. After the lady took my order I asked if I could give her my number for the rewards points. She very curtly answered "No. All we have are the tea punch cards." You are answering to something that you obvious know nothing about. My food came. I ordered my usual. Pick 2. Half baked potato and half sandwich which I chose the french dip. The sandwich came with so little meat just like Linda S states so this seems to be a trend with this McAlisters. Salads are good every time and are a good size portion. A bit pricey though for two drinks and two salads at over 25 dollars. The service is also very slow and the tea is always brewed way too long and doesn't have to much flavor but a burnt taste and either too sweet or not sweet enough. I used to come here all the time a few months ago because my ex boyfriend loved this place. In my opinion, it's okay. Not amazing, not bad, just okay. I try not to be too critical of food places because I myself used to work as a server and a cook at a restaurant. However I've eaten many different things from the menu and their food tends to be inconsistent. For example you may order a choose 2 with a half sandwich and soup, and the portions are so tiny it almost seems like a kids meal, and you could order a salad and it's so massive that it takes up the whole plate. The food is a little expensive for what it is, especially when you try to order a limited edition item as a choose two, it can add $4 onto an already expensive meal. However this is also a good place to eat if you have lots of children and you're on a budget because the kids meals are very cheap, like $2 cheap. Overall the service is amazing. All the employees here are nice and pleasant, and they know their job very well. It can get a little crazy during lunch time because of how busy it gets, but overall a laid back place to eat. One thing I almost forgot to mention was that one time when I came with my boyfriend, we left a tip on the table like usual. As we were walking out, we noticed the manager come by and take the tip intended for the employee. This made me very angry as I thought he was stealing, so we approached the employee and went to go personally hand her another tip and explained what happened, when she said they weren't allowed to take tips. When we asked why, she told us it was because the servers were not assigned specific tables, so you could be served by multiple servers and they wouldn't know who the tip was for. I still think it was wrong that the manager took the tip considering that she was the only server there at the time. Maybe try implementing a new system that allows servers to take tips. read more

I decided to have a mid-week dinner with my mother and we decided on McAlisters for a quick/easy meal. We each had a pick 2 combo (you can choose from items such as 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 potato, small salad etc and make your own combination of the two). Mom had 1/2 McAlisters club and a small ceasar salad. Both of them she said were good but, and they looked nice. I had a 1/2 Memphian and cup of tortilla soup. My sandwich was sad, I think they mistakenly sent out 1/4 of a sammy because it looked dwarfed on the plate by the pickle spear. What I did get to taste was pretty good though. The tortilla soup is excellent. They do quickly refill their tea etc, but I can not understand why they think their tea is so revolutionary. The staff is also nice and VERY quick to clean their tables-I'm talking, don't put your fork down unless you are done! Overall its a decent place to grab a quick meal but I'm not sure I'd drive acorss town to get there.... read more

Recently I ordered online 1/2 sandwich and a baked potato. When I went to pick it up, the young lady at take-out counter mumbled something and I asked what but she would say nothing else. So I finally said, do you have my order and she finally went over to another counter, picked up a sack and handed it to me with no comment. I was not greeted in any way, just a kind of hostile stare. When I got home, I found that I had 1/2 sandwich and nothing else. There was a message on my answering machine telling me they were out of baked potatoes, what to do? "I don't know if I can ever go to a McAlister's again"... Was exactly what my husband said after leaving this property. I haven't been to a McAlisters in years and I'm embarrassed to have suggested this establishment after a long drive searching for a healthier option while on the road. I'll start with our arrival, (which should have indicated us to turn around), there were a group of teenagers messing around in the parking lot, (not the issue) one of which was clearly an back of house employee with gloves, hat, and an apron on. Not an issue if they are off work, but it looked like they were just on a break and were joking around with some friends by the front door. Which then made me question the sanitation level we would receive. I ordered a veggie spud and garden salad, my husband ordered a chicken salad garden salad. First off it took longer then expected, which I can look past, however when we received our salads they were still wet. My husband claims his salad was partiality frozen, I don't know about mine because beside being physically wet it was also expired soggy with majority of pieces that were noticeably past their prime. My husband claims the chicken salad had the same consistency of a mushy tuna salad and had a weird hue of brown. My veggie spud finally came out and the cheese dip was clearly burnt and almost the same color brown as the potato skin. After I pushed that off the potato was edible, but my husband had already pushed his salad aside with the anticipation of leaving. Which we did. And got dinner somewhere else.... Which is what I would suggest for you as well. read more
