This place is such crap! I'm so annoyed cause everything says they close at 9pm but they closed early today. I drove out like a crazy persono make it in time before they close and even with 15 minutes before I was greeted by someone saying they are closed. "I don't know if I can ever go to a McAlister's again"... Was exactly what my husband said after leaving this property. I haven't been to a McAlisters in years and I'm embarrassed to have suggested this establishment after a long drive searching for a healthier option while on the road. I'll start with our arrival, (which should have indicated us to turn around), there were a group of teenagers messing around in the parking lot, (not the issue) one of which was clearly an back of house employee with gloves, hat, and an apron on. Not an issue if they are off work, but it looked like they were just on a break and were joking around with some friends by the front door. Which then made me question the sanitation level we would receive. I ordered a veggie spud and garden salad, my husband ordered a chicken salad garden salad. First off it took longer then expected, which I can look past, however when we received our salads they were still wet. My husband claims his salad was partiality frozen, I don't know about mine because beside being physically wet it was also expired soggy with majority of pieces that were noticeably past their prime. My husband claims the chicken salad had the same consistency of a mushy tuna salad and had a weird hue of brown. My veggie spud finally came out and the cheese dip was clearly burnt and almost the same color brown as the potato skin. After I pushed that off the potato was edible, but my husband had already pushed his salad aside with the anticipation of leaving. Which we did. And got dinner somewhere else.... Which is what I would suggest for you as well. read more

The featured sandwich was the West Coast Banh Mi, and was great. Loved all the fresh veggies on it and the bun was fresh too. My child ordered the ham and cheese toastie - we got the wrong item delivered, but the manager was friendly and corrected it quickly and was nice about it. Friendly staff. Good teas. This place is very clean and well staffed, there is almost never a line at this location, however I believe that is because though they have several staff members, they are undertrained, on several of my visits my order has come out wrong I.e. leave off the olives or no mayo. The staff at this location aren't very attentive to the customers when it come to checking on them or refilling drinks. The food can be anywhere from average to great depending on the day. read more

This place is clean and the employees are friendly. I enjoyed a chicken sandwich with avocado and pepper jack cheese. My son had an overly stuffed Rueben sandwich. Both were delicious! It does seem a little overpriced for sandwiches, but they are generous portions. There's a patio to enjoy your food outside also. read more

Great people - Maybe it's true that Amarillo has the friendliest people in Texas. Stopped for lunch on enroute from Austin to Colorado and had a great lunch. 3 hours of road time later, discovered I left my purse there - drivers license ... credit cards ... you name it. McAlister's is always our go to stop when traveling but today was disappointing. The cashier staff seemed very distracted and preoccupied. I had to repeat my order multiple times to the cashier and two of our three orders still came out almost completely wrong. My husband and I went to McAlister's for dinner last night. We both ordered soup and a sandwich. The soup was lukewarm at best and the sandwiches had very little meat in them. The manager remade our order and when it was brought back to the table there was a long hair on my husband's plate. In fact, one employee wouldn't give me cheese for my potato that I thought I had ordered with it. Employees weren't friendly and I would definitely recommend going to the I-40 location alternatively. I can no longer give a business my money when their customer service is a bad as this. The food is good, but they have zero customer service. I politely asked the staff if they could simply clean one of the empty tables off so we would have a place to sit. She was rude and said she was busy and it would be a bit. McAlisters Deli is great dive I often stop at during travels. I stopped at this particular McAlister's on way back from a vacation. Similar to what the other reviews stated, the staff is a bit slow to recognize you at the front and take your order. With that said, they were very friendly and welcoming. Anything said to be toasted won't be, anything that should be served hot will be lukewarm if your lucky, and God forbid you ask for any corrections...they react to that like you just called their baby ugly. This has become one of my favorite places since it opened this last year. Every sandwich I've tried has been great and the soups I've tried have all been excellent. I love tea and their tea is excellent plus you can join their "Tea Club" and after you buy nine teas, your tenth one is free. My favorite sandwich is the Smokey Pepper Jack Turkey Panini. It is in a category all its own and the toasted bread makes the contrast of textures and flavors a winner. The kid's menu has 8 choices...all for 99 cents! Our daughter is sometimes hard to please but she loves their mac and cheese. She also loves the chicken and dumpling soup. read more

We went here for lunch around 3:00, and it was not that busy. We ordered our food to-go. After about 30 minutes of waiting my husband went to the restroom and on his way back noticed 2 to-go boxes sitting in the window, ignored. I asked one of the kitchen employees to check if that was our food and her response was to ask if we had our receipts (without even looking in the boxes on the counter) and then told us to have a seat so they could make it for us, and then asked if there were any customizations to the order. I said that neither should have cheese and both should have veggie chili, and I asked if she would please look in the existing boxes before making us wait for them to make a whole new order from scratch. She checked and lo-and-behold it was our food. She took it back (without any apology) to speak with the cooks and then told us, again, to sit down and they will remake it fresh at which point I explained that we are in a hurry and do not mind if it is a little cold. We checked to make sure there was no cheese, and then left. Down the road I took a bite of my food and got a mouthful of beef chili. We can't go back, we can't get our money back, and I doubt we will receive compensation for the meal we paid for and did not receive. Probably the worst experience that I have ever had at a McAlister's. We do not eat meat, so now we get to split one meal between the two of us, and let the other one go to waste. There is no excuse for this. I strongly recommend bypassing this restaurant. read more

NEVER will I go to this McAlister's again. EVER. First of all, the plate I got was dirty. It had black smudges on it which were originally hidden by the bowl on the plate. The bowl which contained some pretty nasty pasta. I ordered the Chicken Cavatappi which apparently means bland and inedible. The noodles were dry and the "marinara sauce" tasted like tomato paste from a can. The toasted cheese bread that came with it was actually not toasted at all and had minimal cheese that was clumped together in the center of the bread. Now a few words on the wonderful service. The woman that took our order was brusque and all around kind of unpleasant. My waitress passed by my table three times, looked at my table, noticed my empty cup, and then asked the guy at the table next to me if he would like a refill. Then, another waitress passed by my table twice, looked at my table, noticed my cup, and, still, no tea. There was, however, one highlight to this meal. I had a dessert--a delicious, flavorful, sweet, crunchy, cinnamon delight. I couldn't stop eating once I had started. I have been to McCallister's Deli twice since it has opened. The first trip I ordered potato soup which was ok, along with a chicken salad sandwich which was average. The problem I found was that I was ordering it to go and I had to fight the lines for regular customers just to get to the take out line. The line took forever as there is only 1 register and there were lots of people trying to pick up their lunch orders. The second time was better because it was after the usual lunch time, I ordered a kids mac n cheese thinking it would be a normal order for a kids menu. When we got home we found a miniature container of mac n cheese, literally 3 small spoonfuls. I called back to verify if this is there serving size and was told yes, they have a very small serving size. This was $1.99 for 3 small spoonfuls. I think we will stick to Jason's Deli for ordering kids meals and probably everything else. read more

First time at McAlister's and I don't think I will return to this establishment. Ordered a bowl of soup and the spud max potato. The soup came out barely warm and I had to send it back to get reheated. I believe the confused cashier entered my husband's order in wrong because his meal was very sad looking. He ordered the French dip with chips. First off, the chips were never delivered and his sandwich was very small. It looked more like half a sandwich really. When it got busy we watched, who I assumed was a manager, try to wrangle people who were trying to find a seat. He was trying to get them to wait until entering the seating area so he could regulate when people left that the next people in line could get their table. However they manner in which he did it would have put me off from coming back even before I had tried the food. He was gruff and not pleasant and didn't know how to handle it in a way that seems like he was trying to help the customers. Instead it was more like him stressing out and taking it out on the customers. We were sitting right by the walkway to the main seating area just watching the show. Will go to Jason's Deli if I want deli type foods, not McAlister's. read more

While the food is good (nothing to write home about but decent), the restaurant is filthy and allows NON-SERVICE ANIMALS in the dining room. While dining in this evening, a couple walked in with two dogs. I let him know that I did not appreciate this and promptly notified the manager, who LAUGHED and stated that of course animals are allowed in their eating establishment. I personally will not return.
