    Chips, salsa, Guacamole - Small

Arrived today about 2:45 pm. My order was to perfection. I has A cheese filled chili relleno, cheese enchalada with sour cream sauce. However, my husband ordered a chicken fried steak with fries and the waiter brought him a fried chicken salad. Not sure how that happened. We enjoyed our meal. Before we left I went to the ladies room. Sign saying to put all toilet paper into the trash not toilet. Big trash container next to the toilet - full with a stuck lid. Icky Ick! NO SOAP, NO PAPER TOWELS! How are employees washing their hands before bringing our food? If we get sick, I think I know the problem. We won't be back thank you!

Starting with the salsa. We asked for two more bowls. I ordered a spicy Margarita. It was the best I've had in forever. Not too spicy or sweet, very pretty. The Beef Crispy Chili Relleno was right on. My husband ordered the Stuffed sopapilla, it was good but liked mine better. We ordered a sopapilla for dessert. It was awesome too. Could have eaten another. Service was great as well

Haven't been here in awhile...might be one of the cleanest restaurants in Amarillo..even salt and pepper shakers were clean. Both ordered two enchiladas with Queso...yum. Chips were fresh and hot sauce is the best!

Stopped by on the way back from a road trip and was craving enchiladas. I guess here you cannot mix and match your enchiladas and when asked if I could get one of each (red/green/sour cream) our server said "depends on who's in the kitchen". I don't know how that is helpful, I'm a server and I would've said something like, "Let me go check if we can do that for you". The enchiladas were good, not the best I've had, wouldn't say delicious but good enough. The rice on the plate was better than the enchiladas actually. Also ordered the Barbacoa tacos. It was gross. Meat was very chewy, unflavored/unseasoned, didn't look appetizing at all, texture was just UGH. Definitely have had better and seen better, it was uneatable. I guess barbacoa is a hit or miss at some places and here was a definite miss, their asada meat was better. Pineapple Fresca was decent. Also, our server was unenthusiastic with us and very monotone but we saw him happily and enthusiastically greet and serve the table next to us. I asked for a knife and salsa rojo and he came back when I was already on my last enchilada. Made us feel like we were treated a bit different because we looked like we would tip less than the party next to us.

The lunch specials were pretty reasonable and the service was great. The food was pretty good. The Chile Relleno was very tasty, as were the Shrimp Enchiladas. The salsa was pretty generic, though. I don't know if it's homemade or not. I ordered a side of green sauce, and it was a lot better than the salsa and had a lot more spice. The rice and beans were tasty, and yes we found out that those can, actually be messed up from other experiences. All in all, it's a 4 star, mostly based on the Chile Relleno and green sauce. Updated my review as I've been back a few times. This has become our Mexican night place. Kids eat free on Mondays, which is a nice bonus.

Taco which was part of the combination plate I had! Fresh garnishments and lots of meat!

Absolutely EXCELLENT food! I almost am leery of telling people about it so they won't get too crowded! But all of the food was fresh, came out in a great presentation. Was tasty and a good amount on the plate for the money. Cold beer, great tasting, filtered water and clean and inviting atmosphere. Wonderful and attentive servers. Was an excellent experience. My son had just gotten home from Las Vegas in which the food was all disgusting and overpriced (especially the Mexican cuisine) and going to El Patron was a perfect way to redeem his faith and ours too in great, authentic and worthwhile Mexican food! You will not be disappointed! The waitress was accommodating and kept our drink glasses and chips and hot sauce filled. This will be a regular go to for our family! And it was an excellent experience on a Monday!

There were two other tables with two people each that left shortly after my table of three arrived. Ordered our drinks and it took 57 minutes to get them. The bartender actually noticed that we had been sitting there without anything and he brought them over even though he was not our server. Our server did not understand English, and we kept having to use our phones to translate so we could communicate with her. We asked for appetizers that we never got, yet were on the bill. Our food came out 98 minutes after arriving, and again the bartender was the one that was serving us. The female server sat at an empty table on her telephone the entire time. When I asked for the bill, she didn't understand me and had to get a coworker to actually print out our bill. I tipped-out the bartender because he's the one that actually provided us our service. When I checked my credit card statement the next day she had given herself a $10 tip even though I had lined through it on the receipt. I immediately called the Amarillo Police Department to file police a eport for theft, and I did a fraud against my credit card with my bank. I explained to the Amarillo Police Department what happened, and sent them copies of my receipt and the receipt that I had left for her. The APD attempted to contact Braceros management. Every time the detective called he was told that the manager was not in the office and that they did not know when he would be in the office. At my insistence, the detective went to Braceros and asked for the manager and watched the manager walk away and had his employees say that he was not available. Management was absolutely refusing to speak to the police. When APD asked the employee about my waitress, because her name was on my receipt, the Braceros employee said oh I don't know who that is. So the detectives couldn't even talk to the waitress. They sent the detectives two more times attempting to talk to management and they refused to talk to them. Another 1000% sure management is in on this scam. I filed a complaint with the local Chamber of Commerce and come to find out, Braceros is known for this and there are banks in the Amarillo area that will not honor any charges on their credit or debit cards at Braceros restaurants. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!

We also ordered the Tacos de Birria (goat) with consommé, and they were delicious! The meat was incredibly flavorful, and they came with a small cup of sauce that added even more flavor just be prepared because it packs some serious heat! My girlfriend's mom was especially excited to take me to El Tejaven while I was visiting. This dinner was a celebration of my girlfriend's sister playing in the top All-Region orchestra. It has nothing to do with the food itself, but I want to mention it because she did a great job performing and I think it deserves to be remembered here. It is the reason we went in the first place. It was a busy night at El Tejaven before we arrived. A group of 32 was just wrapping up dinner. Thirty two people. At that point, just cater, dawg. It took about 20 minutes after arrival to get seated, but it likely would have been much quicker if it were not for a group that size. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was spicier than I was prepared for, but it was good. The chips were excellent as well. Most people at the table ordered margaritas on the rocks, while I got a dressed Dos Equis on draft. From what I tasted, the margaritas were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the small queso and the small ceviche. The queso was standard but good. The ceviche, on the other hand, was exceptional. I could have eaten a large bowl by myself. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Orden de Tacos, which comes with four tacos on corn tortillas. I got all of them with al pastor. I also added a side of rice and beans, which normally comes with the three taco order but can be added on for the four tacos. The tacos were very good and exactly what you want from street style al pastor, especially with the cilantro and onions. It comes out to roughly four dollars per taco if you do the math. The rice and beans were both great and I ate all of it easily. The plate also came with a side of guacamole that had a nice kick, which I enjoyed. Living in Austin with family in San Antonio, it is easy to find good and authentic Mexican food. That does not always seem to be the case in Amarillo, so it is nice to know there is at least one spot in the city that feels authentic and not overly gringoified. My girlfriend's family knows ball.
