I'm a fan of McAlister's Deli, so I frequent various locations often. The food is made fresh and I love their potato salad. This location is pretty close to me so it's pretty convenient although it's not my favorite location. I say this because even though the main food order is right, they normally forget to add a pickle in, or I order a large potato salad and sometimes get the regular size. I started ordering the large because they often don't fill their already small container up. I have had times where it's a scoop and you can see the bottom of the container and sides around it. I'm like come on lol, I paid for this. But because I carry out or my hubby goes he doesn't check. But the good news is this time-I had a full container and that made happy! As well as both of us got our pickles! It's the little things. I normally order the Italian 12" and hubs gets the Spicy Turkey 12". We eat half and save the other half for the next day. But this time I veered and ordered the Chicago French Dip. Tip: Put it in the air fryer the next day to crisp and warm it up! 400° 5-7 min is perfect for us. And I'll add some jalapeños and banana peppers-so yummy. I forgot that I had ordered this before but remembered as soon as I took a bite. It's kinda bland, to be honest. It has carrots on it too which is kinda weird for me. That's just me though. It doesn't distract from the sandwich though so don't be scared. Lol The roast beef is a thicker cut so if you prefer shaved, this isn't that. The au jus is not beefy just salty. So kinda underwhelming. So I ditched the au jus the next day and open faced it like I do in my air fryer with jalapeño slices, roasted red pepper deli slices, and banana peppers. I added a shmear of mayo and a lil mustard. It was really good. Packed some flavor in there. For dessert I got a white macadamia nut cookie because they were all out of their toffee crunch cheesecake. Hubs guilty pleasure is their colossal carrot cake so he got that. It wasn't colossal this time but he was fine with that nonetheless. One more thing to note: If you have their membership and have points, you can get a free ice tea or a 6" sandwich. They will not apply it to a 12". So order two 6" if you want the 12" and you'll get one free. They won't substitute for a cookie or cake though. Not at this location at least. read more

Driving through Ohio and stopped at McAlister's Deli for lunch. Known for their hand-crafted sandwiches, fresh salads, ginormous spuds, and Famous Sweet Tea. There was not a wait when we arrived and placed our order at the counter. I liked that they had a pick 2 option because I couldn't decide which items I wanted to try. You get to pick 2 halves of any item to create one great plate. I ended up getting the McAllister Club Wrap with Black Forest Ham, bacon, roasted turkey, sharp cheddar and Swiss cheese, spring mix, tomato and honey mustard. They accommodated my request to heat up the wrap. Also selected the Pecanberry salad with strawberry, blueberry, pecan, grilled chicken and a spring lettuce mix. The fat free raspberry pecan vinaigrette dressing was very tasty. Also had the McAlister Club and the pick 2 with club salad and chicken sandwich. For my drink tried the world famous tea with peach flavoring. The dining area was clean with both indoor and outdoor area seating. Just had a quick lunch and everything about it was fantastic. Had the Southwest Chicken Sandwich and it was so fresh and the bread was soft and delicious. Viviene took my order at the counter and what a delight! Just the entire experience was great and will definitely be back on my list of 'must go' back places. Was looking forward to McAlister's due to all the good reviews online but wound up extremely disappointed We ordered via DoorDash, only 2 out of 3 sandwiches arrived I got the club and it had to be the saddest club sandwich I've ever had the vegetables taste old and not fresh the lettuce was wilted and looked like it had been out for days the sandwich was dry and over toasted I'm only giving 3 stars because the potato salad was pretty good read more

I came here for lunch around noon to grab a quick bite before driving back up to Columbus. While the line for ordering wasn't long, there were a number of people waiting for their food. It took a good long while...I must've waited maybe 15-20 minutes to get my order. They seemed to have messed up some orders too... not a good sign. A lot of people work in the Kenwood area and were picking up food to-go for a bunch of their co workers. It's a busy place! The seating area didn't seem to get full but a lot of people frequent this location. I ordered the McAlister's club with some sweet tea with lemon. Yum! It was a tasty meal. I will add that the staff was racially diverse. Love seeing that! It was just an odd contrast to the mostly white customer base...weird. But this is Ohio. Otherwise, parking was easy to find! Location seems understaffed and so service is slow right now, but the food quality is the same you'd expect from McAlisters. Points for reliably edible and fresh food, but marks off for timing and a couple of differences of taste, shall we say, on menu items. Last time I was in, I ordered the horseradish, beef & cheddar sandwich with a side of the cucumber and tomato salad. The salad is pretty meh, it seems to be literally those two vegetables with some red onion and no seasoning (add salt and pepper at the table). The sandwich was great and all the flavors worked well together, but the roll it comes on is enormous for the amount of filling. Listen, I love bread and this was too much bread. I wish I had taken the fillings out of one half of the sandwich and put it all into one half. So that's what I would recommend you do! It's a good sandwich, just imbalanced. read more

I was really excited to try McAlister's Deli after seeing all the positive reviews online. I ordered the McAllister's Clubhouse sandwich, which is one of their most popular items. It was ordered via doordash the sandwich came out looking like it was missing a whole part of the sandwich. The bread was dry and the meat was bland on top of missing a layer of meat. I stopped by on my way to a meeting after being stuck in traffic nearby on I-71. I ordered the deluxe nachos and a grilled cheese sandwich with side of mac & cheese to go. Once I arrived to my meeting, I opened the items - the grilled cheese sandwich was oozing with cheese, great, but a bit greasy and the side of mac & cheese was a small scoop, the size of half of the cup it was placed in. They were featured on T-Mobile Tuesday's program with 50% off a sandwich. We signed up for the loyalty program, too, and got a free iced tea. The employees are very friendly, and our food was out in two shakes of a lamb's tail. You can tell that McAllister's success is based on the happiness of their clientele, which keeps the customers coming back. My son had the four cheese melt with a side of chili and we had the Romesco's sandwich with a side of the chicken and gnocchi soup. The chili was flavorful without being overwhelming and the chicken and gnocchi soup was a hit, even with my 10-month old daughter, who slurped it right up. We'll be regulars for sure. read more

There are 6 locations in the Cincinnati area. We ordered our meal at the Montgomery location near Kenwood. They sell Starters (Nachos/Soups), Entrée Salads, Spuds, Hot/Grilled/Club/Classic Sandwiches, Sides (Chips, Potato Salad, Fruit Cup, Coleslaw, Applesauce, Pasta Salad, Steamed Veggies, Macaroni & Cheese or Mashed Potatoes & Gravy- Availability varies by location.) , Kids Menu, and more. They also do catering and online ordering. I ordered Smoky Pepper Jack Turkey which is Butterball smoked turkey, applewood smoked bacon and pepper jack cheese topped with McAlister's Honey Mustard on ciabatta bread and as my side, a bag of Lay's Potato Chips for $7.29 (a little steep for me). We got our meals and everything was good. They made sure the orders were correct. Taste of my sandwich was okay. It was a bit salty. The turkey that they used was processed meat. If I was going to pay $7.29 for a Turkey sandwich, I thought maybe I would get quality meats from the deli. I am not expecting Boar's Head, but don't want cheap protein either. All my friends and family rave about this place, but I think they are overrated. Especially with pricing. I gotta tell you, this place is terrific. That menu is gigantic, but everything that I have had has been delicious and fresh. Here's a snapshot of the items I have had, in order from favorite to least, but even that least favorite was tasty. Broccoli side- seriously, it is delish! Just broccoli and salt, but they do it up right. Veggie Spud-the Rotel really adds a nice little kick. I could have used a larger portion of cheese/veggies on the tater, as it was pretty untouched as you got colser to the bottom, but I will say they give you tons of butter and sour cream, so I supplemented with that. Veggie sandwich- warm, delicious,and very fresh tasting. I think in needs a shade more seasoning and perhaps something crunchy to break up the softness of the cooked veggies, but it was darn good. Veggie Chili- it was hearty and good. My one complaint: This is a soup, not a chili. They have a spud that boasts chili and jalapenos and cheddar and I thought I could trade our the meaty chili for the veggie, but it is way too liquidy for that....hence a soup, not a chili. But, the seasoning allows me to forgive the misnomer. Didn't hear back from them! Went to another location (Kenwood). The employees were astonished when I explained! I am a Regular customer with upbeat positive demeanor! The employees took Good care of Me! I went back to Oakley days later to speak with a manager and same employee ran to back as manager coming out. If you've never been, they have sort of the same thing as Panara with the "pick 2" options. Food tastes very fresh! Their lists of sandwiches are very creative- SO many options and I want to try them all. This was my first time visiting this location. I've been rocking back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. (YELP! Kind of tasteless, bread okay not a lot of turkey plenty of avocados. Hmmm. Description was better. One item that met expectations was the French onion soup which was pretty good. Hot salty broth with enough stringy mozzarella. Somewhat slow service for this popular restaurant. Be prepared for fifteen minute wait for takeout at busy times. Parking is crowded. Place is clean. This review is dedicated to the service only - I hate to do this, but it truly is needed after many times of bad service at this location. This one was by far the worst! I'm not one to typically complain, but my last experience at McAlisters in Kenwood was one of the worst I have ever experienced. I called in my order at 11:45am on a Monday. My order only consisted of a turkey sandwich, with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. The gentleman on the phone told me about 10-15 minutes. I showed up at 12pm, so exactly 15 minutes later. On my arrival, I noticed many people waiting for their orders around the register, but already paid. I quickly paid for my order and waited in line. While waiting I overheard many people stating they had been waiting over 30-40 minutes for their pickup orders! I continued to wait my turn in line. During my entire wait no one ever checked on me or asked if there was anything they could do while we waited. As an additional 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 25 minutes continued to pass over my initial 15 minute wait. Finally after waiting at the restaurant for 30 minutes (45 minutes total from order), I asked the staff how much longer it would be. They told me another 10-15 minutes. This would have made my wait almost 1 hour for a turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes! At this point I have exceeded my lunch break and also was late for an important work meeting. I asked for a refund, so I could quickly return to work. The manager prepared my refund and did not apologize once or even try to quickly whip up my order after I had waited over 45 minutes. I couldn't believe her nonchalant attitude as if it didn't even matter. It was ridiculous! I forgot to mention that also during my wait, those eating at the restaurant were being served their food, while phone or online order waited for an unimaginable time. I think we should see other people Two times in a row I have waited more than 10 minutes for a to go order only to see it come right up when kitchen was told I was waiting on it and not an online order. Today with a 10 minute wait a manager and what appeared to be corporate in your store I specially asked for extra sour cream. I got none much less the extra I asked for. The spud max is dry. I got no butter either. I am choosing to come in and order so I can ensure I get what I asked for but after the lengthy wait and a baby in my arms I trusted the male manager who was bagging it to get it right. Went here for lunch the other day. The lady at the register was obviously new and no one was really assisting her and it was their lunch rush. My kid wanted a cup of soup (chili) and they said for the kids meal she couldn't get that and had to do a broccoli cheddar chicken bowl? Ok fine whatever. The salads were almost inedible due to the amount of dressing. Service was a tad bit rude. Not sure if I'll ever give it another try. My husband was bummed bc he and his mom used to go all the time when he was younger and remembers it being a lot better. Wow, so disappointing!! When I heard there was a McAlister's here in Cincy I was stoked!! I'm such a huge fan back in Evansville, IN so of course I had stop in here for lunch. I'm just gonna go straight to the point, this place is FILTHY!! Almost every table was dirty, not to mention the floors and the counter where you would order. My boyfriend grabbed a high chair and that too was covered in old food. I busted out my sanitizer and gave everything a good wipe down before we had lunch. Speaking of lunch, so sad. It didn't taste fresh at all - my bread of was super chewy, and the plate literally look like someone just threw the sandwich onto the plate without caring. Such a shame. Sent my son in to pickup the order and we were informed at time of pickup that the bread bowls Were not available; we paid for them online- so either wanted a credit for the difference Charges or give us equal bread. This review is for the Kenwood location. We needed to order 6 sandwiches and needed to pick them up early, around 1045a, before the regular lunch crowd hits. I had contacted the Oakley location and was told that they couldn't accommodate an order of 6 sandwiches. Odd, right?! What if 6 people walked in at 1030a when they opened? Do they get turned away? We would be coming from our downtown office to pick up the sandwiches for a small appreciation/retirement luncheon. So, I contacted the Kenwood store and spoke to Ms. Vivian. She assured me that I could call her back on Friday morning around 10 and my order would be ready upon arrival. No problem. Things got busy at work, and I didn't call until 1025! But she was expecting my call! She took our order, and was sooo pleasant on the phone. We arrived to pick up the order as they were packing everything up for us. Wonderful! The sandwiches, salads, fruit and lemonade were fresh, cold, and tasty. Ms. Vivian is the definition of "can-do, will-do customer service". We will definitely be back!! McAlister's Deli is literally one of my favorite places to eat for a number of reasons. 1. Their sweet tea is stupid good. I don't know if they hand steep the tea to perfection or they grow their own sugar cane on premise but their sweet tea is among the best in the country. And I would know as I drink enough sweet tea every day to put a small child in a diabetic coma. 2. Their club sandwich runs game on all other clubs in Cincinnati including Mynt Martini and Arnie's. Seriously though, their turkey is simply outstanding and never foul, the bread is always fresh and toasted beautifully, the bacon is always crisp, and the sweetness of the honey mustard brings it all together. 3. Their potato salad is the best on the planet, possibly the entire universe, but I'll reserve that accolade until we discover another planet that sustains life, grows potatoes, and mixes it with celery and rock sauce. 4. I've never had a bad salad from McAlister's. And I feel like this is the only restaurant that I frequent worthy of this distinction. The ingredients are always fresh and they have one of my favorite dressings that is hard to find even at the grocery store - parmesan peppercorn. 5. Overall this place makes Panera Bread look like the Big Lots of delis. Unlike Panera, they don't have coffee drinks or a bakery on premise (lucky for McAlister's I live a stone's throw away from the 24 hour Busken) but I personally think the food is much much better overall. The portions are larger, the prices are lower, and they actually bring the food to you instead of calling your name. 6. Their sweet tea is stupid good. I don't know if they hired scientists to calculate the perfect steepness or they use an imported sugar from Heaven but their sweet tea is among the best in the country. And I would know as I drink more sweet tea every day than a Southerner in a heat wave. 7. Did I mention that they have sweet tea? And that its excellent? Seriously. Try it. read more

Usually I'm a McAlister's fan, but when my mother and I went to this location a few months ago, it was a terrible experience, and I haven't been back since. When we walked in (it was a weeknight after work), there were a few people sitting and eating, one family at the counter ordering, and then my mother and me. No one acknowledged us when we walked in, and it seemed to take all three employees at one register to take the family's order. We stood there while they contemplated the menu, and in fact, it took them so long that part of their order (nachos) came out of the kitchen while they were standing there. We debated leaving at that point (since it seemed like no one was going to help us), when a man walked in and stood behind us. He was carrying an empty McAlister's cup. An employee immediately spotted him, walked over and asked if he needed a refill, took his cup, refilled his drink, and then went right back over to help this family with their ordering. It was at that point that we decided to leave, and I doubt I will be back. I previously worked in the service industry, so I try to be understanding of slow service because I know situations aren't always within the employees' control...however I find it extremely hard to believe that there is any excuse for that appalling lack of customer service other than pure laziness. read more

I have been going to McAlister's for years, they have a pretty extensive menu to please all fares and also have combo/pick two type options if you want 1/2 sandwich and soup or salad. One of my favorite things is that they are open later on Friday and Saturday nights till 10pm. After 9pm, good choices can become slim around Kenwood. My two favorite sandwiches are the Grilled Chicken club and the McAlister Club. I recommend potato salad as side and if you like lemonade or tea make sure to get one. Yes it is a giant size drink but so good! The also have huge flat cookies for $1. read more
