Above average chain sandwich shop with great sweet tea. I usually get half and half (half sweet, half unsweetened) because it is too sugery for me. They also have spuds, soups in a bread bowl and wraps, which are new to the menu. I have enjoyed the food each time I have been to McAlister's. This particular location gets knocked down because the employees were RUDE. We even heard a guy asking for his money back after waiting forever for his sandwich. We did not have a problem with the wait, but when I asked for cheese on my sandwich (which admittedly, I forgot to order), it was as though I had flashed the chef and he was shocked at such a display. Come on people, it is sandwiches...don't be so uptight. Oh, and my husband got spicy mustard instead of the requested yellow mustard. He ate his sandwich anyway. Aimee Z. introduced me to McAlister's over a year ago and I agree with her and Jennifer C., it's about the Bacon Cheddar Spud, just about the perfect comfort food. As Jen said, it's enough for 2 meals, unless you are really hungry. Add on a large Sweet Tea with 2 lemons (don't forget the second lemon, it does make a difference) and a sugar cookie, and you have just about the perfect meal when cold, tired or stressed. I'm going to piggy back on Meridith's review a bit. It is an above average sandwich shop with your basic run of the mill selections. I had a club the other day that was OK but a pastrami a few weeks earlier that was nicely done. I find it to be about a dollar more than Jason's but that's because you get a side (not just chips) which includes, soup or mac & cheese. These combos are a welcome change when the temp drops What I will say that completely conradicts Meridith is that the service was as friendly and attentive as humanly possibly. I'd like to believe that Meridith has such impressive clout that she was able to shape this place up on the sheer power of her review. Whatever it is, there is a noticeable presence of managemnt around, so perhaps many people were complaining. I'm sure I will go back as a change of pace or if Sweet Tomatoes across the street is too cowded but if I am craving a sandwich I will probably still go to Jason's or Firehouse. read more

WHAT A GREAT PLACE! A friend and I came here over the weekend to have lunch, I had a free lunch card which I had been waiting to use.When ordering the man in the front was SO helpful, he helped me decide which sandwich I would like, told me what he preferred, just overall a very helpful employee that knew what he was talking about. The manager was there as well helping another guest and he seemed personable and nice as well. After getting our food at the table which a really nice young girl brought over to us we started to enjoy our delicious sammy's & sides! The employee's were prompt in getting us refills and getting our plates out of the way when we were finished.They were better than some places that had servers. I have had my last three orders be completely wrong and the first 2 I just dealt with but today's I called and talk to the manager didn't get much but we will remake it I said no I'm already home and I don't live that close to this location I work close to it ... but my friends lunch was completely wrong and now he can't eat it and I had to be the one to actually say I need my money back at least for this lunch and that's about all I got I probably will not be going back not list the general manager who I left a message with make things right and also talks with them to make sure they get orders right what really gets me is I actually called them on the phone to make sure they got my friends order completely right because he's very picky with what he eats and I just was dumbfounded when I got home and saw that it was completely wrong... I was introduced to McAlister's by a friend who raves about their sweet tea, which is what they're known for, and for good reason. The first time I went to a McAlister's was in Waco, TX on a drive to Austin and I was hooked on the sweet tea! Probably not a good idea to drink a large on a 3 hour drive but it was well worth it. I'd recommend ordering sandwiches from McAlister's that you normally wouldn't make at home. I have gotten the Chicken Pesto that I am pretty fond of, particularly the 12-grain bread. My boyfriend got the turkey which he was unimpressed with, but there wasn't much in the sandwich to jazz it up anyway. I love that McAlister's offers sides besides chips! Their mac & cheese is delish. They offer a variety of sandwiches, "spuds" (aka baked potatoes with different loadings), and soups. The food came out pretty quickly and no complaints about the service - didn't have to wait at the counter when I wanted a refill of my sweet tea. I haven't tried their dinner menu yet but I'll probably go back to what it's for - a deli. read more

I lived by this deli for nearly half a year and never tried it until recently. First off, as the nickname states, I'm in this for a good deal. McAlister's has some of the best dining deals around. For something close to six bucks, you get a pick two of soup, salad, sandwich, or baked potato. Wow. I tried the Vegetarian Chili covered potato and a cheese and tomato panini. Both were acceptable and it came with a free cookie! Like Shanna said, the vegetarian options are plentiful. They also have a sweet tea that has a cult following. It was pretty good but I'm not about to fill up my ten tea card anytime soon. I'm going to be honest that I didn't find the food crave-able but the prices were so reasonable, I'll definitely be back. I won't go back again. Ordered on the app to save time. I usually look in the bag to check and make sure everything is in there. This location is notorious for leaving items out. It seemed that all was good so I went home. I ordered 2 entrees with sides of neither had the side as I was told it was in the box. I should have pulled out each box and opened it but I should't have to do that. It is clear on the reciept what should be in the bag. I paid extra for fruit but didn't get that either. I called as was told to come back and they would give me the items left out. That was not an option but again I shouldn't have to do that either. I filled out the survey and made my issues known. I listed I wanted a call back but never got one. I called the customer service number for McAlisters and told them of my issues. I was told I would hear back from the manager about it but I haven't heard from anyone to this date. I will make sure to let my friends and family know about this location. If I could give it a negative star rating I would. I guess I paid extra for a lesson learned. read more

As far as chain delis go, McAlister's is one of the top spots around. It's a great lunch spot. My regular choices on the menu include the French Dip and the Orange Cranberry Club. To be honest, most everything on the menu is great. You can also pay the difference and get a soup. My favorites include the Tortilla, Chili, Veggie Chili and Mexican Wedding (which I understand they sadly just discontinued). I've eaten at several McAlister's locations across the city. I'm about to tell you the one reason to come to this location. This location gives a FREE COOKIE with lunch. No other location that I've been to offers that. I think I found my place in Dallas to get a French dip sandwich. It was frigg'n delicious. I gobbled that thing down quick. The baked potato soup was good, especially, the bacon and cheese topping. I saw a huge cookie at the counter while ordering, but I think I'm gonna have to hold off on the cookies for a bit. :-( The inside was quite clean and nice. I liked how they had the tv's up. Never had a bad thing here. I love their baked potato. Its two large potato jammed together and then built with your toppings. you won't go hungry. Also top notch club or cranberry club. McAlister's is about what you might expect from a deli. They have quite a few options, and this day I opted for the Ham and Swiss Panini with a side of Mac and Cheese. Nothing that special, although it was delicious. The mac and cheese was about the same...didn't taste bad, but didn't blow me away. I wished I could have gotten a larger portion. The portion I got seemed rather small! I do have to say, the raves about the tea are well-founded. I'm not a tea-drinker much, but I loved it! I would definitely come back, but I'd try something different as far as the food. Maybe some broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl? We'll see what the future holds! read more

I LOVE this place. I am very much a sandwich and soup type of person and this place doesn't disappoint. I go to several of their locations and my favorite is probably the mckinney location just because they are super friendly and remember who I am each time I come in. I usually get the combo sandwich and soup. My favorite is the smoked pepper jack turkey sandwich and the loaded potato soup (or some call it creamy potato soup). If you like a good hearty meal, go ahead and order a full size sandwich with a side of soup because I usually am able to eat the combo, have dessert, and drink a whole cup of tea. The soup is soo good!!! One of the best potato soups I've had. And the sandwich comes out hot and melty. I love dipping my sandwich in the soup too.. Mmm! I also like the club sandwich but I love the potato soup so much that I haven't tried the other soups. I'll definitely try and give the other sandwich and soups a chance next time. The sweat tea is good don't get me wrong but it's not the usual SWEET, SWEET from the south that I'm use to. It fixes my sweet tea crave though! This is my favorite location. I eat there weekly for lunch (sometimes twice a week). There is an employee named Akeem (I don't know if that is how he spells his name or not, I apologize for not knowing) and he is a PEACH. He's so sweet and helpful. He also knows my usual order by the time I reach the register. And he always walks around and asks everyone if they need a refill or anything else. He goes above and beyond!! read more

The manager is always there when we go and I know how tiring that must be since I use to work at fast food. We have a McAlisters in my hometown and I've been eating here for years. Besides Jasons it's one of my favorite deli's. Coming from a Sweet tea addict they have some of the best around! I have had nearly everything on the menu but my faves are definetly the turkey melt, potato salad or macaroni, and the chicken tortilla soup! They also have really good salads and free yummy cookies with your meal! The only thing I won't recommend is the broccoli cheese soup. It's always a little too thin for me and has a funny twang but everything else is great! I always get it to go but it's a nice place to eat In as well. read more

I went here for lunch today after stopping by Barnes & Noble (which by the way is conveniently located in the same shopping center) to pick up a book. I've always seen this and other locations but have never actually found a reason to go in until today. McAlister's is located on Montfort between Arapaho and Beltline. It's situated in a very large and pretty busy shopping center and shares the space with such stores as WalMart, Michael's, Best Buy, and DSW shoes among others. The only way I can describe this place is it's very similar to Jason's Deli, but they have more of a neighborhood feel. Jason's Deli lost that "neighborhood deli" feel years ago honestly (I still dig them though). It does have some outdoor seating, but for some reason no one was taking advantage of it despite the amazing weather we've been having. I ordered the savannah chopped salad which was basically mixed greens with chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, bacon, gorgonzola, dried cranberries, and grilled chicken on top. The salad was delicious and was served with a sweet and tangy dressing that balanced out the flavors of the gorgonzola, the bacon, and the dried cranberries. BTW, did I mention they have huge cups? GINORMOUS! As one reviewer said, they give you a free cookie with lunch. AWESEOME! I picked up a Heath bar cookie which was large and amazingly thin for a cookie. However it was so soft and chewy--I was amazed that a cookie this thin could stay that way. McAlister's turned out to be a pretty decent lunch spot. I recently discovered McAlister's Deli through a friend of mine and I've been averaging 2-3 lunches a week at the East Plano location. My wife works near this one, so I thought I would try it out. I love the "Choose Any Two" and am regularly enjoying the French Dip with a bowl of Chicken and Dumplings. Quite yummy.The "Choose Any Two" allows great combinations to try different menu items. Yes, I 1000% recommend their tea. I hear the sweet tea is great, but I get the un-sweet and down about 3 of the large on each visit. It IS that good! Unlike my regular location, the staff at this location weren't very attentive or came around to check on us. I had to go to the counter to ask for refills. The wait time on food(which they bring to your table) was about 20 minutes. We ordered the Savannah Salad and my French Dip/Chicken and Dumplings. It was after lunch rush, so I don't know why it took so long. Maybe it was an off-day, so I will give it another shot next time we join up for lunch. read more

I fail to understand why they even bother to offer anything outside of their sandwiches. My family opted to eat from there tonight and the only thing they appear capable of doing right, at least at the Beavercreek, Ohio location is the sandwiches ... anything we ordered, outside of that, they were out of or told us it would take an hour to make (Stuffed baked potatoes). Why on earth would any restaurant offer a food item they require an hour to prepare? It wasn't about how busy they were ... they said the rest of the order could be ready in 20 minutes. Did they need to grow the potato first? Nobody is going to sit in your restaurant for an hour waiting for a potato people ... if you can't do better than that, get it off your menu. As for running out of stock ... maybe a manager that knows how to control an inventory would be helpful. read more

I loved the customer service here and like always the food was great. However the tea was a bit off. It wasn't sweet and very bitter. Maybe next time?! This used to be my favorite salad place because it was affordable but very tasty and good quality, however the last few times i've been here it has been disappointing. The ingredients in the salad taste cheap. The chicken was all gristle and rubbery. We wont be back. The fact alone that since posting this review management contacted me right away, making me rethink my decision to not return. Management seems to be on top of it.
