We took advantage of the BOGO 50% off 'Sandwich Day' special. While not exactly authentic (this from a native new yawker) this deli delivers darned good deli sammies. The New Yorker corned beef & pastrami sandwich is very satisfying at an excellent price. I did comment to Tami that no self respecting New York deli would serve it on marble rye. Steamed broccoli side had just the right amount of crunch and, as always, the unsweetened tea is terrific. My choice has been the grilled chicken croissant sandwich and the Pecanberry salad choose 2. It is surprisingly filling and I feel better about myself after eating it, rather than something heavy or greasy. Last time, they also threw in a lemon blueberry cookie, and it was surprisingly great, coming from someone who doesn't love lemon things. I eat at McAlister's quite often. I've picked up dinner from this location two nights in a row. The food is good. Usually the same and I like many different menu items. My 3 stars are not the food. It's the service. Both times, parking was scarce. They removed their to-go spots in front. Then both times I walked into the restaurant to grab my food - not one worker acknowledged or spoke to me. Also, if you don't get them yourself - you will not get crackers for soups/chili. I hope it improves soon as I like visiting for the food. Update: This week I ordered a pick 2 of a club wrap and cup of chili. The order took a little longer than quoted. When I got home it had toppings I had asked to be removed and the toothpick to hold the wrap closed was in the middle of the wrap and was not visible so I bit it. Not safe! read more

Since COVID, my family has been ordering box lunches from McAlisters for all of our small, socially distant gatherings. We have been together to celebrate a baptism, a gender reveal party, and two baby showers and continue to order box lunches. Each box is VERY reasonably priced and includes an enormous amount of food, including a sandwich, side, large cookie, and usually pickle. The napkins, utensils, and condiments are individually wrapped and placed in the individual orders. The box lunches have been the perfect way for us to stay safe and skip the buffet-style meals of the past during COVID. They are not allowing anybody to go in and pick up their own food, which made me a bit nervous about the time it was going to take to get our food. I really enjoy McAlister's because they have such a wide variety of items. For a fast(er) food establishment, they have a surprisingly large offering of vegetarian options. My favorite menu item, though, is the chicken spud. If you've never had a potato here, be warned--they're huge!! Definitely a filling meal, assuming you can even finish the potato. (I can. No judgement, please!) I also love their potato salad. I'm starting to see a theme. Many people love the sweet tea here. I'm not a fan of sweet tea but their unsweetened tea is good! Drinks are huge too! And free refills if you're dining in! I find that the takeout is often slow so we always call ahead and give it a little longer than the time quoted. I swear every time I go to this location I have a bad experience! From missing food in a Togo order, to a rude manager yelling at her employees about a cookie being over cooked and now half of a half of a sandwich. Yes that's what I said half of a half of a sandwich. This location is absolutely ridiculous! I order a half club and broccoli cheddar soup open my bag to check b4 I leave since I had missing food b4. The guy walks over while I'm opening it and I say to him it's not even a full sandwich he says to me well we put lettuce and tomato on the top layer okay cool but can it fill up the top layer at least? He said no that's how it is and I responded I'll be sure to complain about that. No effort to redo the sandwich or anything. It's just sad that if the lettuce and tomato are on that layer they can't even fill the layer with the tomato and lettuce. It's flavorful and fresh and I can customize the salad to my liking. But we all know the real reason we love McAlister's....THE TEA! it's delicious. I always enjoy McAlister's so when I found out that today was National Sandwich Day and they had $4 McAlister clubs I made sure I was there before the big rush. Typically I order from the app but I saw the special was not available via the app so I went in and ordered at the registers. I ordered my sandwich to go along with a side of chips and a coke. I paid cash and really did not think about what I was paying so I then went to the sitting area to wait. While I was waiting, I looked at my receipt and realized that I did not pay the special price for today which was $4 for the McAlister club. Because of the difference, and they were still slow, I asked the girl that checked me out why the difference and she said the offer was for dine in only. I said OK very confused and sat down to wait for my order. I then looked at McAlister's Facebook page to see what was posted because I remembered reading that take-out orders were acceptable for the discount. After I found it, I then stood at the counter to ask why the difference and while I was there, I realized my order was already complete and waiting for me. The employees were really focused on a large take out order that, from the look of it, included many salads. My order kept being pushed back every time they had another tray of salads. The awesome girl that always works carryout was busy filling the teas so she told a different employee to help me. After I told him I was waiting for my order that was complete, he gave me my order but I still wondered about the special of the day and noticed the manager was working on orders. Once I finally got his attention I told him my question and wondered why it was so different. He told me that he was told that it was dine in only and that the cashier was correct, the special was for dine in only. I showed him the Facebook posts that said if you could not eat in you, anyone could get it to take out. He was shocked and read the posts several times. Instead of telling me that it was a mistake, because obviously it was as he read the McAlister posts on Facebook numerous times, he said he need to make a phone call. Seriously?!?!? He made me wait even longer when all I wanted was to tell him that he was telling his cashiers incorrectly and I wanted my $3+ difference. I waited and then he returned asking me to see my phone again so he could read it to the person he was talking to on the phone. Of course I showed him but then he gave me the wait sign with is hand and walked off to the area I could not see. He eventually returned and asked me to send him the Facebook post to his phone and told me I was correct that take out was acceptable not just eat in. He was not sure how else to do it besides taking screenshots and the sending them to him. I took multiple screenshots and texted them to him. I had told him that I knew I would not be the only one to ask so I was glad he figured it out. He thanked me and then acted as if our conversation was complete. I waited and then asked him if I could have a refund. He looked confused and then said "of the difference". Yes, I should have been clearer to explain that I thought I deserved the difference of what I paid vs the discount....but shouldn't that have immediately been offered and not asked? The manager acted as if I had done him a favor but yet I deserved to pay the full price even though those after me may pay the special price?!!??!?!? He did give me the difference after several minutes. I left very confused ad over 30 minutes beyond what I should have and expected to spend in the Fishers McAlister's restaurant, I am always willing to help and I could not be the only one questioning the deal today. what a horrible location! The staff is clueless, and does not even know how to redeem a coupon through the app. The "manager" didn't even come out from the back to assist. I asked for a # to call their corporate, and she gave me some generic # that doesn't do anything. That "manager" needs a bit of people skills and to at least step up to the plate, but not here. I have had goldfish with better people skills. Next time it could be someone that isn't as nice as me, and you could be in some real trouble, with the issues at restaurants lately. Only through the choose 2 was I able to get a half salad but then I would have to order another half to complete the choose 2. I feel that McAlister's should have the option to order just a half of any salad or sandwich for that matter. This was the first time that I have had poor service. The employee was constantly wiping his nose while filling my tea. I asked for a sweet tea with light ice and instead he gave me a unsweet tea with a lot of ice. I ordered one Caesar salad and it took forever to get. Called in several times to place a to go order. (Typically it's a pretty long wait).. My luck no answer. Maybe they switched to online orders only? 30 minutes later I drive up there to place my order in person. Was told it would be 15 minutes. Probably a dozen others dining in. 8-10 employees. I waited 45 minutes for my to go order... "soup and a grilled cheese"..... Minutes later I find my order has been ready for the past 20 minutes but left on the counter to get cold.
