I live for McAllister's, I'm not quite a regular but its sure is my go to place for iced tea & yummy deli sandwiches, soup & next trip nachos. This location is great, I always find something on the menu to try for the next go'round and can't complain at all about the service. It's always clean, the food is fresh & though I had a few mess ups on my last trip I'm not mad at all (which is rare for me). Also I made sure to snag a catering menu for some upcoming events which I'm definitely going to be looking for. All in all the price point is great, portion sizes are perfect, service is pretty quick (though I swear whenever I go 5 people come in right after me lol). This place is a complete dumpster fire. The line is completely disorganized, so people frequently jump to the front. I shouldn't have to regulate the flow of service at a restaurant. They frequently don't have online orders ready on time. And the cashiers are so rude and will completely ignore you. They can't even tell who's waiting to order. And the sandwiches aren't even that good. I was so annoyed this afternoon that I turned down a free lunch so I could go pay somewhere else that doesn't treat its customers like cattle. The draw for me was the low priced kids meals. I think they were 99¢. Ended up offering two for my son, but still that's a great deal. The potatoes I got were part of the pick two meal option. I still got a whole potato as a "half" option. The meal was tasty, though I do wish I had a little more sauce on my potato. But that's a personal preference. My wife also enjoyed her meal. This used to be my go to place for lunch. My coworkers would joke about how often I ate here. It used to be a great location and the staff was helpful and friendly. It's been going downhill for awhile now so I haven't been in a month or so. Fast forward to today and I probably will never go back. The staff just doesn't seem to care at all. I ordered a soup and salad to go. It was later in the afternoon so they weren't busy. In fact, I was the only person waiting. They got my name wrong at the register so I had to wait longer to verify that it was in fact my order. Not a big deal, I got my food and left. I got back to the office and they had obviously just thrown my soup into the bag on its side and it was leaking everywhere. Okay, mistakes happen but this was just carelessness. They used to wrap the soup in a bag to prevent this. It's not like I threw the bag around or anything. It went from my car to my desk. There was no dressing for my salad and my crackers were smashed. There was a knife but no fork or spoon. So someone took the time to put a knife in there with one napkin but didn't bother to think I would need a fork or spoon for soup and salad. It's a shame because the food is normally pretty good. This location has lost a pretty loyal customer. read more

Hello iced tea happiness! If you don't know that is McAlister's specialty. Get it sweet or unsweet if you are sweet already. This is a great location. It's always bustling so get there early! They have great turkey sandwiches...try the Patriot...I'm not sure that it's even on the menu anymore. Lots of healthy options and they will accommodate your diet if you have restrictions. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because last time I was there the iced tea was less tasty than it usually is, y tasted like water! Like most McAllisters, food is good and fresh, best iced tea in town (except for last time), great desserts. The service is usually good in McAllisters and this location is it the exception. Last time they didn't come to check on us as other times, but the manager was around making sure everything was ok. Great meals with lots of options. The salads are fresh with a variety of fresh veggies and fruit. Great combos and the pick 2, lets you choose from lots of options. The new pastas are great and the potatoes as well so you aren't limited to just soups, sandwiches and salads. Kids meals are an amazing value with lots of food, so even big kids can fill up here. DFW really lacks a sense of place. From it's bleak cookie cutter corporate campuses to it's completely insane lack of any good Chinese restaurants it is a strange land, indeed. I was warned by coworkers and family members alike that the only thing memorable about McAlister's is the view you get when you are driving away. After nearly two years in this area I finally took the plunge. I can say that I have now dined at McAlister's in Irving twice. I ordered a Rueben both times. Like Irving, the building lacks a soul, but the staff is efficient enough. Both times my sandwich was ready within 5 minutes. Let's address the Cole Slaw first. Limp and lifeless. The second time around the Slaw even looked kind of old, but I don't think I will get sick. My paternal grandmother, a intensely crabby Swedish woman made the best Cole Slaw I ever tasted. I thought it was some kind of secret, but once many years ago my uncle took me to a bar b que place in Culpepper, Virginia that has been open since the 1930s. My uncle confided in me that my grandmother stole the recipe from the little hole in the wall in Culpepper. McAlister's slaw is below average, but it did not make me sick. Both times my sandwich was OK, and it filled a need, BUT, and this is a deal breaker-the first time I got a pickle with my sandwich. The second time I did not. Pretty decent service, and always reasonable prices. I went here for the first time yesterday for lunch and the manager (I am assuming) was friendly enough, however the cashier chick was a bit dry. And I changed my type of mustard after she put the order in and she was sure to let that be known to not just the cook but everyone else within proximity of the counter. Nah, pretty much everyone in the damn restaurant. She needs a bit of soft skills as this is not a truck stop. Anyway, food was great, fresh. I ordered the Turkey Melt on Ciabatta Pick 2 meal with the Chicken Tortilla soup. Chips were fresh, Soup was hot and thick, flavorful. I will be back. While visiting the establishment today, we were fairly disgusted by the upkeep of the tables. There was lettuce and trash all over the dining area. When trying to select a table, it was difficult to find a table that was properly wiped down and cleaned. So...decided to give this another try after the last delivery debacle from this location. I mean, how hard is it to mess up a salad order, again...apparently still too difficult for this McAlister's location. I feel in love with the chopped salad after traveling out of state last week, ordered honey mustard to go with, delivered...was a spring mix type salad, not chopped and a vinagerette dressing, not honey mustard. Oh, and now my husband informed me again... he has something missing from his order... this is the second time within a few weeks....such a shame that this location can't seem to get it right, ever! I usually come to Irving a lot for work. This place is quick and has decent vegetarian options. I love soups but can't have them at most places. This places has multiple vegetarian options. They also have a leaf next to the vegetarian options so I don't have to ask a ton of questions or recreate the menu to find something to eat. I ordered the fire roasted vegetable soup and the vegetarian half sandwich. The sandwich was good. The soup tasted a little watered down. Food = basic nothing out of the ordinary. After a year of going to Addison and a couple of stops at NW Highway, this one opened up literally across the street from my office. Maybe a half a block too far to walk, but perhaps when it warms up a bit. Had my standard turkey on croissant, spicy mustard, lettuce and Sun Chips. Another good experience. This is one of those locations where it's tough to lose unless something terrible happens. Good store, great food, tasty food and convenient if you're coming from the north or south.
