Washington State Zeppepin was the perfect amount of savory and refreshing flavors with the diced beets and champagne vinaigrette. After a long week of bbq and fried chicken, Bread Zeppelin was the greens we really needed but still full of flavor. It was my first time here and the zeppelin concept was interesting and a useful way to hold everything in. Service is also quick and friendly. The bread here is amazing! I was a little underwhelmed with the salad though, especially after shelling out $17 for it. I ordered the Pacific Beach salad and added some bleu cheese and bacon. The avocado was missing and the shrimp were the size of my thumbnail. Some of the bits of bacon were very hard too and had to be picked out of my bowl. So overall, not super impressed by my first experience BUT I definitely plan to give them another chance and try some of the other things on the menu. read more

The Metropolitan Cobb with Carrots sounded really good. The order was on time and well packaged. I'm an old school salad type and like to use a knife and fork plus add and mix the dressing to my salad. Bread Zeppelin takes that away and does it for you. One could have eaten this salad with a spoon. It did have great flavor, and it was a somewhat healthier option than I might pick elsewhere. Easy, simple and for a decent price. read more

This was my first time going here, and I came because I wanted to try something new. The server was great ... he nicely explained everything to me. I had the turkey in the Bread Zeppelin (I'm not usually much of a bread eater because of the calories, but "when in France...") The food was served quickly, and the sandwich quite delicious. To be completely honest here I went here because of the name... I just think it's totally cool and deserves a chance. To sum it up here is how it goes: you get in line and chose either a "Zeppelin" or a Bowl. Zeppelins are hollowed our sub sandwich rolls that they stuff your chosen salad into. The cool thing is you can drive and eat with very little spillage just like a burrito but even less spillage. The bread is good to very good and just my opinion, but would be GREAT if they offered the same hollowed out rolls toasted with butter inside.. Erm, I shall stop salivating over that and make my review all about my latest meal only (to keep it honest). I ordered a bowl of their "Atlantis" salad, which came with lettuce above peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and feta (Ayy, it's a Greek salad, gotta have them Mediterranean ingredients) and chicken for protein. And Kalamata olives, which are my favorite olives in the world. No pits. It's a good sized portion for a lunch, and it came with Greek vinaigrette on the side, which I chose for a dressing. Each salad gets stuffed into a hollowed out loaf of bread. Bread is fresh and tasty, even at closing. Broccoli cheddar soup paired well with fresh bread. The zeppelin in a crispy yet chewy French bread. It held everything in till the last bite. I didn't care for the romulade. The sandwich reminded me of a tuna sandwich...when it was shrimp. Surprised to see the low ratings, I really like Bread Zeppelin! In fact I've turned a couple people onto this place and it's now their go to salad place. It's kind of chipotle style, in that you start at the back and can tell them what ingredients you want in your salad as you go down the line; or select one from their menu. I always get the kale-ifornia one, pretty tasty and not too bad calorie wise. The guy with the weird earlobes that was preparing my order took a loooooong time to prepare a zeppelin and a salad because every few seconds he would go say something to the other employee, and he was pretty rude to another customer who asked a couple of questions about the ingredients. Seems like the portions have become smaller and the quality of the ingredients is not as good as it used to be. A zeppelin with steak is $13, with a minimal amount of avocado and tough, cold steak. For the same amount, I can get the chimichurri steak salad at Snappy Salads, which has a lot more meat (and way more tender and tastier), half an avocado and fresher ingredients. The most uninspiring Cobb salad I've ever had. $16 and extremely hard bacon and barely any chicken. Pro tip, go to a Super Target and buy a Cobb salad for $5, take it out of the container and we'll distribute the dressing and you will wonder why you ever paid over $10 for any salad. read more

I was surprised and a little disappointed that I was told they no longer chop their salads...That the food is now pre-chopped (don't know if this is for all locations, but that was part of the appeal for me). Basically the premise is a custom made or menu salad prepared right in front of you, dressed in kind, and finally stuffed into a hollowed out locally sourced Empire Baking Company baguette. You can also opt for the same salad, but in a larger portion size without the bread if you are so inclined. The toppings to choose from are bountiful, as well as the dressings. The protein selection isn't nearly as vast, but still includes steak, shrimp (rather small rock type shrimp), chicken, breaded chicken, turkey, tofu, or avocado. I wouldn't mind seeing something like a fried avocado here, but that might be a Snappy Salads specialty. Also I think smoked salmon would make a fine addition, however it can be cost prohibitive. The best part of the ordering experience is watching a crew member wielding a mezzaluna chopping your salad, though I do typically instruct them to leave it "chunky" as I don't want a predigested salad. Also I would always recommend adding seasonings, that's something most home cooks forget to do with salads, but don't overdo it. If you work, live, or do business in the area, make sure to take note of Bread Zeppelin, especially if you are health consensus or just enjoy well made salads. Also something else I've learned over my many trips here is to order the bread on the side, as you get to retain the inside of the baguette, and possibly prevent any sogginess if it needs to travel some distance. read more
