I come here often since I live close by. The sandwiches and salads are always fresh, they give great portions so you will have leftovers. My favorite is the you pick two for $12. It is a deal you cannot beat. You get a choice of 2, half spud, half salad or sandwich or soup. In this economy this is a great deal I love their chicken salad, their cranberry walnut salad and spicy turkey melt. They have fresh sides and if you are a broccoli fan, theirs is great. It's pretty clean and quiet, and the service is fast. They have giant potatoes, sides, a number of sandwiches to choose from, soups, and salads. Leaving a review for one specific note because the staff and food are just fine otherwise. I ordered a $11.50 BLT and asked to have oil and vinegar on it and was charged $1.49 extra. For OIL AND VINEGAR. And probably what likely amounted to half a teaspoon of each. The nickel and diming of restaurants is way out of hand and I won't be back out of principle. While working in the area stopped off there because you can get a lunch pretty quick. You go up to the cashier and order what you want from the big boards. I ordered the grilled chicken with alvacado with raspberry dressing. It was a good meal and filled me up. Could not eat it all. Should have left out the onions, personal preference. Also ordered large unsweetened tea and cookie. Once you order you go sit down and they bring you your meal. Just display the number they give you at your table. Our go to place when we have no desire to cook ourselves. McAllister offers a wide variety of sandwiches with numerous customizable options-everyone will be able to find something they like. My wife also vouches for the baked potatoes-likewise with many customized choices. And for those who live locally-delivery is typically sooner than the estimation you'll get. Only thing keeping a 5 star is that for whatever reason, delivery often omits an item or gives us something we didn't order. They've forgotten chips, salad, drinks, cookies, etc., other times we've been given random drinks or various sides. I have no experience with McAlister's though we gave it a shot randomly on a weeknight while we were out running errands and really were pleased. The young staff at the front counter were absolutely adorable and pleasant, patient with us as we sorted out all the options in front of us and trying to figure out where to start. I enjoyed a good sandwich and swapped my side for broccoli, my wife enjoyed her sandwich and got the chicken tortilla soup for her side. McAlister's is not Ruth's Chris but is clearly succeeding at what they're aiming to be. I'm sure we'll be back at some point when we find ourselves in a similar situation. read more

Never been to McAlisters, though I've seen them everywhere. I only ordered the Fire Roasted Vegetable soup, so I didn't really explore the menu. However, the veggie soup was absolutely delicious! Loaded with veggies, obviously, and had a thicker consistency. Thicker than the normal veggie soup. Anyway, I loved it. There was a mix up in our order being processed. The young lady who took our order noticed we were sitting, got our order completed, gave us a free meal for our next visit, and sent the manager over to explain the gaffe.... After having a less than average restaurant experience on Thursday night, we decided to cook in on Saturday. And as can happen, time got away from us, and we chose to do takeout. So, I put a McAllister's order in DoorDash and after seeing the fees and they added a 20% tip. I went directly to McAllister's website and put in the same order. So the value of me driving 2 miles to pick up the order was $15. Done. When I arrived at McAllister's, the staff were on their toes, taking orders, delivering food, and dishing out the to go orders. I could quickly see the ability of the staff to handle anything and not being focused on one task. That was a very good approach. of course, McAllister's is known for baked potatoes, and we got a few of them. It never cease to amaze me by how large the spuds are. We also ordered a chicken wrap and broccoli and cheddar soup. They were both made as described in the menu and without any issues. We will definitely be putting McAllister's back in the rotation of restaurants that We frequent when we want a last-minute takeout. read more

Every time I come to McAlister's Deli, my experiences weren't great, Once again, the biggest issue I had with McAlister's was their service. I have waited over an hour for my food; which is definitely not worth it because the grilled chicken caesar wrap sandwich came out dry. The soup was slightly cold and not that great either. The only good thing was the sweet tea. Not too mention, the prices are high compared to others and the portion sizes are relatively small. I felt that things needed a good sweeping because there were food crumbs all over the floor. Probably won't be going back, Panera is a better option. read more

Portions are tiny and I'm a small guy who doesn't eat much. I tried to order dinner for 2 and the price was over $60 dollars. This isn't Texas Roadhouse, it's a fkn sandwich shop. The side options are laughable and half of them are upcharged on top of your $17 sandwich. They don't offer bread or chips and salsa like the other places they're competing with in this price category. This was one of my favorite places when the prices reflected what you were getting, but the prices have doubled and I will never return. On my way to every other site I can find to post this review. This is my second time dining at McAlister's Deli and I was looking forward to a pleasurable experience. The cashier was very kind and informative. She gave us some suggestions on some top sellers and made our mouths watery. Upon getting my French dip sandwich, the first one was cold and the roast beef was a little redder than what I like. I asked if they could cook it for just a few seconds longer. Joint getting the second sandwich, it was beyond burnt. It tasted like a piece of charcoal. It was so burnt that you could break the roast beef apart like a piece of wood. Nothing was done to resolve this dissatisfaction. read more

This was a very disappointing visit. Every time I come to VA to visit my family or anywhere else there happens to be a McAlister's Deli I make it a point to stop in. Ever since I was a kid I would go to McAlister's to get their New Yorker sandwich, broccoli and cheddar soup and sweet tea. I recently started getting their spuds as well. Being in VA for the Thanksgiving holiday, I had to make it over to McAlister's at some point. Today was cold, rainy and a perfect day for soup but unfortunately I never got any. I arrived at McAlisters in the later afternoon and there were a few people dining inside and nobody else in line. I went right up to the counter and prepared to order. From what I could see, there were four employees and I was never acknowledged; not once. I waited at the counter looking around. There was a cook in the back, what I assume was a manager doing some work in a book to the side, one girl walking around cleaning things and getting refills and a guy who was more interested in fixing the Christmas bows lining the counter around me than taking my order. I waited about 5 mins for the girl to come back behind the counter to refill an iced tea thinking for sure she would acknowledge me but she didn't. At that point I turned right around and walked out the door. There is no excuse for poor service and McAlister's Deli dropped the ball this time. For the most part I really enjoy the food at McAlister's. I've been to a few locations and have consistently had good food, and yesterday was no exception when we ate at this location. After spending a lot of time at a home design center in the same shopping center, we decided to come here for what we thought would be a quick lunch. While the line to order was small, we only found one table open to sit. Our cashier warned us that it would take 30 minutes to get our food. For soup and sandwiches this seemed outrageous, but we weren't necessarily in a rush so we went ahead and went along. It was prime time on a Sunday after all. Sure enough it took right around 30 min to get our food. But we found everything really good, other than my spud which was luke warm. Service was really friendly too, and they gave us each a free cookie to apologize for our long wait, which I thought was really sweet. Free refills on drinks and the sweet tea is the best! read more

The food was pretty good . The iced tea was great. You order your food at the counter and the person was nice . They ask for a tip when you pay . I asked her if it was like Panera where they ask for a tip but you do all the work . She said no we bring your food , check on you to see if you need anything, refill drinks etc . You don't do anything . So I gave the largest tip on the credit card machine since she was standing right there . Well they did deliver the food . That's it . I had to go and ask them to refill our drinks . And ask for to go boxes . I wasn't the only one . I told her no one came to the table . She said they were all busy in the back doing something . I don't remember what . I felt it was pretty deceiving to ask for a tip and tell me they do everything like a normal restaurant. Then when I told her no one came to our table it was like oh well we were all in the back ? She said they all shared the tip , probably trying to get me to press that button for the highest amount . This McAlisters was a convenient "meet-in-the-middle" location for a business meeting we had today, located in the Westchester Commons shopping area across from Sweet Frog. Upon walking in, they were not very crowded at all, maybe 3-4 customers in the whole building. The cashier who rang our order up was not very knowledgeable about the menu and didn't appear to be having a very good day with how she interacted with us. Our food came as ordered and was tasty but the side portions weren't very satisfactory. The floor under and around our table was completely covered in potato chips and an employee even came over with a broom and swept near us but they completely missed anything visible to us - not sure what they swept. McAllisters is always a solid lunch spot. Since Panera had decided to vastly increase their prices, change all of their recipes and reduce portions, I've been in the market for a simple fast-casual lunch place. Mcalisters has fit the bill. My favorite is the sweet chipotle chicken sandwich. It has a peach chipotle sauce which is the perfect balance of sweet and heat. They have solid soups and salads and have a menu just of baked potatoes. They don't have a big baked goods assortment but what they do have is delicious. The chocolate chip cookie is perfection. I wanted a sandwich and stopped in yesterday. First things first. The lady who took my order was extremely nice and cheerful. This always makes a difference. Especially when you are like me and just standing there waiting for your food. I ordered the grilled cheese for lunch and a reuben for later. The grilled cheese was pretty good. 3 cheeses all nicely melted in the middle. The reuben which was eaten later was pretty good as well. The downside were the sides. While there was nothing wrong with them specifically; I wanted fries. They did have baked potatoes, but those are problematic to eat in the car. I got some Cheetos and some cole slaw which didn't do it for me. After placing my order I was staring at the sign and saw that they offered better sides for $0.99. While most of the problem was on my end for not seeing the sides listing, I would have definitely have upgraded if they had told me about them when they gave me the side choices. I loved this place and stopped in for a sandwich almost every weekend for the last few years. Recently, however, the restaurant has gone WAY downhill. The dining area smells dirty. Meals take forever to be ready (on a recent visit, we waited 40 minutes for our order; and on another occasion we ordered online and had to wait almost 30 minutes after the scheduled pickup time.) The staff seem confused and overwhelmed. It's no fun to grab a sandwich in a place with a crowd of impatient, angry customers. I'm sad to say we will NOT be returning. (Really, I am sad. A McAlister's Club sandwich and a large sweet tea is my ideal Saturday afternoon lunch, but enough is enough.) read more
