Whenever I'm in the mood for a good deli sandwich, soup and salad McAllister's is my go to favorite.. I only wish the bacon was a better quality and crispy.

Burnt bread on a cold sandwich? Interesting

Entered your store 1 hour and 15 minutes before close. I verified with your staff that you did indeed close in an hour and a half. I ordered half a sandwich and a bowl of soup. I clearly heard your kitchen crew state, "I have to make a damn sandwich". It is very rude and unprofessional to act like that when your business is open for more than another hour. I receive my sandwich; which is supposed to be cold, with burnt bread?

McAlister's is the best thing since sliced bread. Fortunately they have lots of that; Rye, whole grain, ciabatta. Whatever you need. You want your carbs? They got you covered. Or you could go with a salad! I mean I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a health nut and all. But if you want to live dangerously try one of their awesome brownies!

Ok I hate doing this because I have really enjoyed eating at various McAlister's Deli since first being introduced to the franchise however today's experience warranted this review. Hubby & I came for lunch we arrived after 1pm on a Saturday. It was not overly busy. We ordered a 12 inch French Dip (no cheese no butter.. dairy allergy) with a side potato salad & a Club wrap with a cucumber/tomato salad & 2 large unsweetened iced teas. Total came to $28.71. When our order came out we only received a 6 inch French Dip & when we questioned this the server that's what we ordered. Apparently the front staff today were having a "Bad" day as both female employees we had interaction with were rude & salty in the speech & attitude. Hubby did eventually get the other half of his sandwich so that was good. My wrap was less than desirable, the wrap was completely falling apart before I even had a bite it was tough & not good. The cucumber/tomato salad was missing any dressing (I've ordered it before & it normally has an Italian type dressing) before you ask did I complain no I did not especially after the attitude already experienced with the 2 front employees. Sadly, this was not a good experience at this location.

Always friendly. Tea is always perfect. And the fact that you can buy a big sweet tea for $1 flat, is awesome, change is messy.

    J. Parrino's Queen City Deli -- "More Than What Meats the Eye"…read more It's no wonder why J. Parrino's Queen City Deli is more than what meats the eye. The name behind it, Joe Parrino, is a renowned St. Louis restaurateur known for blending Italian tradition with classic St. Louis-style soups, sandwiches, and pastas -- and that mix absolutely shines here in Springfield. From the outside, you might not think much of it. But as they say, IYKYK. This is definitely not a book to judge by its cover. Tucked on the east side of Sunshine, it's the kind of local gem you'll want to keep in your lunch rotation. I started with the Milo Salad, and wow -- thick cuts of salami and pepperoni, fresh cheese, crisp lettuce, crunchy homemade croutons, and a perfectly sliced hard-boiled egg. The dressing took it to another level -- creamy like Caesar but with a tangy vinaigrette twist. Honestly, I almost forgot to take a photo because I couldn't stop eating. And that garlic breadstick? Fresh, soft, and buttery perfection. Next up was the Parrino Special, their house sandwich -- prosciutto, salami, and incredibly tender roast beef stacked between garlic bread buns and topped with a house salad. Every bite was a dream: the crunch of the bread and salad with the tenderness of the meats created layers of flavor and texture that just worked. Pure happiness between garlic bread. The team here is friendly, fast, and full of good recommendations -- you can tell they care about what they're serving. If you're looking for a local spot that nails the trifecta of soups, salads, sandwiches, and pasta, Queen City Deli might just become your new favorite lunch stop.

But the portions are small, and I felt like a needed a meal less than an hour after eating there, so... Not worth the money. But it was a good little sandwich if you're ever not hungry at all but feel the need to eat something. But if you're hungry, or even have a normal person-sized appetite, best to go somewhere else. Also, service is slow -- kind, but slow -- and you won't be getting your tiny deli sandwich in a hurry. So if you thought, "oh, a deli, I'll save some time and get a quick bite." No. No you will not. Nothing personal, but this is a confused business model yielding low ROI for the customer in terms of portion and quality per price. If you have the time and want to pay this much for a sit down restaurant, go get full at literally any table service restaurant in town and avoid this place. But, if you like overpaying for tiny sandwiches that take forever to be served, then this is the spot for you. I just don't see how I could ever be compelled to return here. This makes no sense as a restaurant. It was good--but it was just a little sandwich snack that took well over an hour to walk in, sit down, order, receive, and then eat. The eating part took almost no time, however, because, as I said, the portions are tiny. It did taste good, though, so you get a second star.
