When we noticed a spring of water bubbling up in our front yard and the city water company confirmed that it was on our side of the line, we called our warranty company, Columbia Service Partners (a subsidiary of Home Serve) and they got us in touch with McAtee. Because of a holiday they could not come out for several days (that is the one problem I can mention about using a home warranty, but in the end, it was worth it). They came out and started digging and within 15 minutes, ruptured a gas line that was marked incorrectly by the city company, Utiliquest. (The inspector from Utiliquest admitted to me personally that their company was at fault, not the plumbers). This led to an all day repair by the gas company and a day without gas or water. By the time it got dark, the poor McAtee crew, Kyle and Ben, who had had to wait all day for the gas company to finish their work, had to leave, but first hooked us up with our kind neighbor's water supply. On Monday they came back and discovered that the water line could not be repaired. It would have to be replaced. They had to come back another day and work very, non-stop hard all day. It was tough work since over the eighty years that the old line was underground, a huge tree had grown over it. Lots of huge roots. They really worked hard and finally got us connected with a brand new water line. All the while, they were friendly, diligent, and considerate of our needs. They found a way to overcome every obstacle they met (and they met several!) I cannot praise them highly enough. In the end, we were very happy that we had the warranty that we did and for the service we received from McAttee Plumbing through Kyle and Ben. read more

We had a major interior flood building up as water overflowed one toilet and started filling the shower and tub in our master bath. We placed an emergency call to our home warranty company, HomeServe, and they called McAtee. McAtee responded and were on the scene 35 minutes after the initial call. This would've been impressive anytime, but consider it was nearly 5 PM on CHRISTMAS EVE! Dalton representing McAtee in Aiken, SC spent about three hours diagnosing the problem and developing a solution to overcome the builder's inadequate design that omitted cleanouts. Various attempts with two types of tools were unsuccessful. Eventually, he had to dig and open the pipe. He stayed until the clog was gone and put everything back that had to be disturbed to find it. The clog was under our large ranch house's slab about 20' in front of the freshly dug opening. He broke it up and the water flowed again in time for our guests to arrive on Christmas morning. After three days, it's still flowing. I've read the bad reviews and our experience was nothing like theirs. It seems McAtee is either hot or cold - great or awful. I expect we are dealing with one of their subcontractors, but he's really, really good. I've never used McAtee before and I'm not being compensated for this review. read more

Randy contacted me when he was on the way. He arrived in the early part of the window that I was given. He looked at my pictures of the problem area that I had seen under the house. From there, he just took off. He showed great problem-solving ability. He had to go to multiple areas and use different equipment to fix the problem and explained the procedure and reason at each location. His methods worked as we saw what came out of the lines. He gave me detailed information on what I should do to prevent this problem from occurring again. I went straight to Lowe's and followed his instructions before trying things out. The commodes, shower, dishwasher, and sinks all worked perfectly with no backup. As equipment was being put away, Randy and my wife compared NFL teams. He is DieHard Steelers and she is DieHard Cowboys. I hope not to but if we ever had a problem again, we would definitely want Randy back! read more

McAtee has been great. I moved into my new house and needed some quick plumbing fixes like a garbage disposal and a water line to our new fridge. When they arrived the technician worked quickly and did a great job. He went above and beyond helping with things we didn't know were even wrong yet, like the pipes under the sink in suspect condition when we took a closer look. He even put a seal around our sink which we didn't realize was completely unattached to the counter. Then when our furnace went out they came by promptly when called and were very reasonable considering it was after hours. When it came time to do the actual fix the work was done within minutes and the service was great. Very affordable as well. I really can't say enough about how great McAtee has been! read more

The quality of Steven's service was excellent. He went over and beyond to get me hot water. My problem was with dispatch and company itself. Steven had to make 2 trips to get job done.I placed order on Thursday and was told would be Sunday before they could come. Was then told someone would be back Monday to attach gas, I waited til 1200pm Monday and called. No one can ever answer phone. Always had to leave a message and hours before they call back.Finally was told it would be Wednesday. Now I took day off from work Monday. After I expressed my frustrated side, they set up for Tuesday and Steven was able to return. And I paid with debit card and was told I would have receipt in email. We were having a problem with our hot water heater so a service request was put into HomeServe by our power provider Dominion Energy and we got an appointment for the very next day. They gave us a time between 10am and 2pm but he arrived about 10:25 ( I received an email in route and was able to track). He got right on it, he asked questions and answered all my questions and kept me informed about everything he was doing and he took care of the problem. I am very impressed by Robby and would request him for any future service that we might need, he was very professional and during this time of the Covid-19 he came prepared with mask and gloves on and maintain a safe distance. McAtee tech came and resolved my problem quickly and with respect. In this time of pandemic I was grateful Rich was wearing a mask. He put down drop clothes to keep my house clean from the big machine to snake out my drain. Also McAtee worked really diligently with me to schedule and reschedule several times because I lost power the day before my scheduled appointment. They went above and beyond rescheduling 4 times before my pier came back on and we were able to get it resolved. This is my second call with McAtee Plumbing out of Columbia, SC. Each call was for a different issue. Both times I was treated very kindly and professionally. Robby is skillful and an exceptional solution provider. I had leak near the main water pipe and Homeserve reached out to McAtee to help me. As it turns out the irrigation fitting ended up giving leaks underground due to overgrowing tree roots which wasn't covered by HomeServ. I asked Robby to help me fix the fitting and he did such a great job and cost me less than steak dinner for two to fix my problem. I am very grateful Robby did all the diagnosis, digging, root cutting, the fixing - the whole enchilada . Robby is honest and awesome guy to work with. I will use McAtee and Robby again! read more

On yesterday June 17, 2020, we notice a puddle of water standing in the side walkway of my house. On yesterday I called the HomeServe company and requested a service to see if we had a leak in the yard. The department scheduled a service call for the next day, June 18, 2020 to repair the pipe which was leaking. Mike was the service person and they repaired my leak in less than 1 hour. Sudden leak on the kitchen sink cold water line just above floor level forced us to shut off water and find a plumber ASAP through HomeServe. McAtee worked us in the next day and dispatched Andrew. While he did not make the original timeframe, this is still a credit to him because he had 4 other calls before us including a water heater replacement. Andrew was fantastic and even after a brutal day before our call he worked his butt off to repair our pipe and save our floor. We will be asking for him by name if we need service again. They were hired by my home warranty company to replace my 80 year old water service line. Old steel line that runs the entire length under my driveway. Coming at 8am. Took off work to be there. After calls to the office and saying they were on the way, 7 pm nobody shows. The office promised me they were coming the next day. Take another day off. The good news, they did come on time, checked it out, and gave me information on who to contact to get fixed. The man that came was, very nice, professional, and helpful. Also gave me number to call to find the leak. Under our warranty, being not the main water line, it is not fixed under warranty. The guy that came out was great. Just doing his job. Our hot water heater was overflowing. McAtee came out and immediately diagnosed the problem. Technician was very kind and knowledgeable. Arrived early and patiently waited for me to return home. He carefully explained the problem that the heater, repaired, showed me the worn out part and explained how it could cause problems. We needed help, no hot water, called our HomeServe Warranty we had through Dominion Energy. They connected us with McAtee and they came in two days. I had a water leak in the front yard. Called in and got a response in less than 24 hours and the repair person - Shane was here on time as scheduled and quickly found the leak and repaired it. But then he went a bit further and checked all the lines to make sure he had completely addressed the problem. Earlier this week I noticed a four inch round damp circle about two feet above our power room toilet. I suspected a pinhole leak somewhere behind the wall.
