Northland responded to my questions and request very promptly and professionally. I had also contacted another heating and cooling place that took a week and a half just to return my call. Northland returned my call within a day, and when we made a decision to have them install our new HVAC system they had it done the next day in about four hours. The installation guys, Caleb and Jake were professional polite and neat. The furnace looks great. They cleaned up after themselves. They took away all the trash. David D. and Paul F.'s reviews are what got me to check out Protech Northland Heating & Cooling when my AC went out last week. I called Friday and got a Monday appointment as I didn't want to pay time and a half for a weekend service call. The tech just left a few minutes ago and I had cool air coming out of the vents again! Just in time as it was getting hot outside. He was here about 45 minutes and got my AC unit up and running. Cost? $75 for service call. This lasted about 40-45 minutes and then it stopped working again. I called their number and talked to Maggie. She called the tech and then called me back about an hour later to say they will need to replace parts and that they are waiting on a quote. Quote for parts and labour (motor and capacitor $454.04). They said it would be probably Wednesday when they would call me. They didn't. I called them Thursday morning, said would be picking up parts today and would call back to schedule a time. They got back to me and had the tech back at Friday afternoon about 1:00pm. Took him about an hour and a half. The tech was pleasant and seemed to know what he was doing. The dispatcher was always very pleasant. The only thing I'm not too sure of is that being a HVAC company is why they wouldn't have motors and parts on hand to be able to fix the units without having to order them and keep a customer waiting for days during 90+ degree weather. If they'd been able to fix my AC in a timely manner, I'd have given them a 5 star. read more

Our HVAC unit stopped pumping out cold air overnight, and Northland Heating and Cooling was the magnet on the unit in the basement. We bought the house 5 years ago and are still a novice to the home ownership thing. I called Northland at about 3:30am when I woke up to an 85 degree house. My husband and I both have asthma and it is important we have A/C. They sent Caleb out a few hours later and he was so kind and knowledgeable. He did a great job and didn't overcharge us. He had to go back and get a replacement part and was quick and helpful, and explained everything he was doing. Was done in a very timely manner. THE SETUP*** ATLAS BUTLER did a service check on my 15 year old furnace...11/25/13 in the early afternoon! The agent looked at my furnace...took my thermostat apart.. The wiring to the furnace/heat pump and then turned off my power to the heat pump outside leaving me with FIREPLACE HEAT ONLY!! He then advised that my furnace was spitting out 4 parts per million carbon monoxide! He said that my furnace will be condemned and I needed a new one and a new heat pump...! He then called the office and said they would be sending out another person and left...without putting MY STUFF back together!!! 8:30pm-9pm the other agent arrives and was amazed at the travesty the first agent left behind... Apologized for the mess..and instructed that he would have to get in touch with the office and have another AB Contractor come out in the morning of 11/26/13 to go over in detail what I MAY NEED! The CATCH*** The rep advised that he's been doing this almost all his life (35-40 years) and he would ONLY put in my house what's needed and he would really take care of my homes needs! After detailed deliberations with himself...because I was totally clueless he came up with this... THE PUNCH TO THE THROAT and BELLY** Totaling ...wait.. WAIT FOR IT ...Hold up... $9900!!! Shut YOUR MOMMAS FRONT DOOR!! The TRUTH*** NORTHLAND Heating and Cooling were called... 11/27/13 They sent an agent out within 15 minutes.. Did their service checks.. Carbon monoxide well being check....and had no readings PERIOD! The agent stood right next to the closest vent/register!! Services to my inspection came up to $120...and I FORCIBLY chipped in $20 more for the agents lunch with a happy God sent smile! THANKS for being right on Northland H/C and doing the job!! No cracks in the heat exchanger that AB advised that I had...! REALLY!! LUCY ...AB....YOU GOT SOME EXPLAINING TO DO....! C'MON MAN! We have a PTAC unit that decided to blow a condenser fan belt the day before Thanksgiving. Jamie and Josh came today and were awesome! They replaced the blades and the unit is working perfectly all within an hour! They were very professional, explained processes as they worked, and did not waste any time. I highly recommend them!!! Keep your distance from this company. They are quick to sell you a system, but will argue and delay with you the service and repair of the system. They also seem to have no spare parts on hand at all and always make you wait for delivery from the factory. Additionally, they never call you back when they say they will and you always have to pester them to make sure they do what they promised. The technicians seem knowledgeable, but they do not have adequate support from their management and admin staff. read more

The bad reviews this business has gotten are BS. Really? You didn't like the secretary? A tech didn't show up? Let me tell you two stories. Six years ago we moved into a house owned by a family member. It had sat 2 years with no heat or A/C. The furnace, already old and bad when the home was occupies, was now rusted out and unsafe. I called Northland and the owner, Bill, came out and worked with myself and the owner to get a VERY fair price that we could afford. The new furnace was installed the next day, even though I know how busy they were during a very cold March. Six years later, not a single problem. Last year, the old central A/C unit emitted a huge BANG and quit. I called Northland and a tech came out 2 days later. I wish I knew his name. He charged an $80 service call (I knew that) to tell me that the A/C unit had blown a condenser, could not be fixed, and would cost $7,000 to replace! I had a private individual come out, replace the condenser and clean the unit, for $80. I immediately called owner Bill. He said A) condensors CAN be replaced, B) he would talk to and retrain or dismiss that tech, C) a new A/C for this house (2,400 sqft) would not cost over (I forget the amount, I'm thinking $1200?) and D) he was refunding all my money. I told him to send me half back since I knew it cost the company to send a tech out. He didn't . He sent me the full amount. Northland Heating and Cooling is the company I trust! read more

I needed Northland Heating to come out again, this time to fix something wrong with my furnace. Since I still had some heat, they scheduled it for today (from Monday when I called them). I'm not quite sure what the serviceman did but he was here about an hour and my problem is solved. And the price, was $0.00. That's right, no charge. You can bet that the next time I need service Northland will get the call and I won't bitch about the price no matter how high it is! read more

Have not been a fan of this company, so far. We called on Thursday regarding our broken (installed incorrectly) AC that is under warranty. We were never called back, and when we finally got ahold of the emergency line, we were told they "didn't believe us" and to call during regular hours. Furnace was acting funny- ran but would not run long- used this company some years ago- they were Good then. This time tech came out and after spending hundreds of dollars with them furnace was not fixed. Tech had no idea what he was doing. Called another company and diagnosed blocked moisture flow line, cleaned it out and furnace was fine. In the mean time and hundreds of dollars down the drain and 2 days of barely any heat, I got the shaft from this outfit! There inside scheduler is dumb! I called this company for a quote on an installation.. Mark my words..they will not show up!!! This is the proverbial " no call no show". Please beware of this company. There is someone there called FRED. Didn't even bother to call to say they can't make it!. Read some other reviews and I wish I had looked at this before I even bothered to call. Here is the story: I had new AC equipment to instal for the hot summer months ahead. Thought i could save a lot of money this way. The challenge was to find a company willing to install the equipment. I was not prepared for the hang ups, no call, no shows i got from seemingly reputable companies such as this one. The owner acted as though he was doing me a favor by installing my own equipment! I don't need favors! Just an install. He declined of course. Luckily, my neigbor gave me an awesome referral for a hvac company who could do the install!!! Total cost $1500. This company pro tech wanted $2600. Total customer savings $1100 in my pocket. Don't worry. The warranty is on the other company i bought the equipment from. read more

northland installed the ac unit in my condo 7yrs ago, Tech came on time - spend 5-10mins to check filter and listen to a/c compressor and says no freon- unit cannot be recharged, but i was charged $120 for it. There were 2 other HVAC that came before northland. they did check MORE thorougly and suggested to contact northland since they did the install - I wasn't billed for the appointment with the other companies since they cannot access the freon recharge port. read more

Can't say enough good about this company. We knew this was a huge purchase (furnace and air conditioning plus water heater) so we received 8 quotes (yes 8 total!) from reputable companies before making our decision. We decided upon 2 high efficiency units for the heating and air so that we could truly compare "apples to apples". One of the biggest names right now (let's just say they have a radio ad that emphasizes how honest and ethical they are compared to others that "create" expensive issues to "fix") came in roughly 2k HIGHER than Northland. The owner, Bill, was straightforward and shared with us a wealth of knowledge about short/long term costs, installation etc. Hands down, BEST PRICE and so far, BEST SERVICE I've had from any vendor in a long long time. read more
