    Cheese curds
    Dan D.

This place is very local. Old crowd comin in and hugging the hostess. The bar stretches throughout the place, the restaurant is very long. We sat at a table looking at our menus, watching the open kitchen cook. We were given a pitcher of water and waiting a very long time for our drinks. What seemed to be the owner was a very nice woman taking all the orders. Very frazzled. We got the Blarney Balls, very good and just what u want, Irish nachos, came out burnt, plastic nacho cheese and some green onions, cheese curds, can't go wrong with cheese curds, and the clams. Oh also a bowl of cheddar broccoli which came out cold and we had to send back to be put into the oven. I say this with every bar I've gone to, get bar food. Cheese curds yes, wings yes, our wings were crispy and had no flavor. We had to ask for extra sauce bc they just tasted like chicken. I'm sure their handhelds would be excellent but I didn't partake so I can't say if they were or not. OMG if I hear another fricken plate get smashed. It seemed as if the chef DIDNT wanna be there. Smashing shit and half assing the food ‍. Come here for the bar scene. Live music and loud talking. 5.4/10. Again. VERY NICE PPL!!! Food not so much.

Good food, service from Robin, excellent it's a tavern located on Main Street in Belmar. It seems cheerful enoug. There appears to be an older crowd so the food must be decent cause older folks tend to return especially during dinner hour. I came here to see the band, NRG. A nice watering hole. 3.5 stars.

    Drunken Clams - very good

So many delicious food options! Whether from their regular menu or specials, you won't be disappointed. Service was great and quick and ambiance was my favorite, just a nice dive bar.

I was very disappointed in this tavern. It was 6:15 pm & only 2 people were sitting at the bar. I went because the menu indicated the Wednesday night special was Fish & Chips. Not seeing it, I asked & was apologized too. The waitress/bartender said that they had dropped many of the specials due to the pandemic & she hadn't gotten around to changing the menu online (in 2 years?). I then asked what IPA's they had. Only one kind. My partner wanted Coors Light. It wasn't on tap. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer but the only sauce to be served was ketchup. My cheeseburger was severely underdone after ordering it medium but not bloody. Even after sending it back, it was still mooing. I ate a small end & took the rest home for the dog as well as my partners steak tips that appeared grey. While the bartender was very pleasant it doesn't make up for the food.

Chill bar, has some pool tables and nice crispy onion rings

If big Tommy McCann is manning the grill then you have to order a steak and the tango shrimp. My favorite "dive" around.

I'm in a mood so I'm gonna go on one today…read more The Grand Tavern is hands down the best restaurant in the area. My husband and I have been going here for years. We don't come as often as we used to because yes it is pricey but I would much rather come here and have a special night with incredible service, food, and drinks than still spend over $100 at another restaurant and get average food. The Grand Tavern is unpretentious, welcoming, entrees offer sizable portions. I have NEVER left hungry. Main complaints I see are price - again, yes it's expensive but it's worth it. Also you can see the menu before you go, how do you not know what you're walking into?? Complaints about the burger. First of all the menu changes seasonally. There's no way their patty is frozen. Everything is FRESH AF. And yeah, American cheese is king on a burger. Again, it's on the menu what did you expect? This is a restaurant that has literally never disappointed. I will always save my pennies for a great night out here. Everyone's entitled to their opinion obviously but entitlement is a hell of a drug. Check out the menu and have a great night.

The other 5 in my group enjoyed their drinks. Our server took our orders verbally, and all apps and mains came out without a hitch. No menus handed (they ask you to look at their website to choose!) and the menu is small, with specials limited to cocktails. It is dark and quite noisy (they did dial back the loudness after we asked) so keep that in mind.)

After extending our stay to enjoy the view, with one more drink each, I wanted to check this place out. The not so friendly female bartender advised me there was a private party on the first floor and to go upstairs by stairs or elevator. Okay. So, anyway, I notice in the elevator there's a 3rd floor (roof top) and wanting to prolong our day out, I say, hold the elevator while I take peek on the rooftop venue. Very inviting, so we go to the rooftop, not crowded, and the bartender was fairly quick to take my beer order. I like IPA's and had a hazy, which she suggested. We sit across from a couple on the couch. I decide on lobster roll sliders. I have a feeling it'll take forever for a server to approach, so I order at the bar and point to where we're sitting and pay in advance. The food comes quickly and I have my cash tip ready and the server very sweetly accepted it. The bread was delicious. Not so much lobster, but the bread and combo made it very tasty. $20 for 6. I wouldn't buy if hungry, but it was a decent appetizer, if a bit pricey, during these crazy times and crazy prices we're all experiencing now Our companions (we were sitting in one of the couch area conversational pits) mentioned his partner was unaware he was paying $17 a pop for a glass of white wine, and had just plunked down $34 for two barely half glasses of wine. Um, no. My beer was the usual expected price. The lobster sliders were on soft, tender, fresh mini rolls that were slightly sweet, like "Hawaiian" bread. Decently priced beer. Enjoyable views. And I took special notice that the barriers were slightly above waist high (I'm 5'6") with plenty of space between the barriers and the ground below - just in case your drunk a* decides you can fly. Lol! Good choice! Nice views. Bathroom was clean, but I can imagine the nightmare when packed, as there were only two unisex bathrooms. The Xtra levels would, hopefully take up any slack. A lot of beer houses do not serve food in NJ, so that's a plus. I would definitely check this place out again or go the first time, especially with a date!

Visited Cave Bistro off the recommendation of a friend, and also DDD (iykyk)…read more I've frequented many DDD Restaurant's in the past, and they always seem to be very crowded. So just to be safe, I did make a reservation right when the restaurant opened. Seems to say I played it a bit too safe, I was the only one i there for the first 20-min.! In any case, then dining area was very bright and open, and I was seated near the window, which I enjoyed. I tried three foods, appetizer-entree-dessert, here's the breakdown: 1) Appetizer: Pan Roasted Achiote Octopus ($22) which has Shaved Pickled Carrots & Onions, Chermoula. For 1 person, this was quite substantial and a delicious start to the meal. The octopus wasn't tough, it was cooked perfectly, with a nice char-grilled flavour. Paired up with the accoutrements, it was a 10/10 way to begin my meal! 2) Entree: Grass-Fed Beef-Roasted Marrow Burger ($26) which has Raclette Cheese, Caramelized Onion-Tomato Jam, Fresh Baked Gluten Free Brioche Bun, & Beef Tallow Fries. Why 4-stars? Because of this item. The day I arrived the restaurant was trying their new "Baked Gluten-Free Brioche" on me, apparently I was one of the first --- the bread was dry AF, lol! I loved the burger --- the marrow taste, the raclette cheese --- I sing their praises, but wrong day to test out the "test bread"! It ended up on a Yelp Review. Hopefully the bread-recipe has been improved on after this review. PS: The onion-tomato jam perfectly pairs with the richness of the marrow burger. 3) Lastly, I ordered for dessert the bread pudding. They don't put their desserts on the menu, but if you ask the server they will let you know what the restaurant has for the day. I believe it's seasonal as well. It was average at best, good ---- but didn't stand-out. Overall, I'd totally recommend a stop-by if you're in the area! It's always awesome visiting these sites features on DDD, and tasting for yourself the hype behind their food!
