You have your choice of yeast roll or cornbread

Today we went out to lunch with friends who had read about Wade's, and it was every bit as good as we remember. I had the fried chicken, sweet potato casserole, and peas. The chicken was tender, juicy, and piping hot, and I could have eaten a giant bowl of the sweet potato casserole, It is so decadent! My husband had the meatloaf which he declared "delicious" and his sides were cabbage and collard greens. For dessert the four of us shared a slice of the peanut butter pie drizzled with chocolate, oh my so good! The place was packed when we got there before noon, but they were moving people in and out quickly, and there was a very short wait. Wade's can be highly recommended for outstanding southern food.

We ordered plates to go. People actually think this food is good? Comfort food? Really? The other plates were tossed in the trash before we snapped photos of the other crappy food. The actual cooks need to expose this place for cutting corners on ingredients and adding fillers. A teaspoon of gravy on tasteless dressing and the broccoli casserole should be called "Broccoli Stalk Casserole" because there were no broccoli florets in it, just stalks.

Worth the drive and wait! Each dish was excellent in quality and taste. The fried chicken was crispy AND juicy inside. Buttered carrots, fried okra and stewed tomatoes all had a fresh taste. My mother said the turnip greens were the best she had tasted in years. The yeast rolls are to die for and the sweet tea is perfect! Our waitress was attentive and yet not hovering (perfect!)!

The food was so-so. The fried chicken, and turnip greens didn't have much taste, the Mac & cheese was dry and the dinner roll was very salty. I did like the sweet potato casserole, it was perfect! The service was ok, not rude but not overly friendly either. The rest of the employees that we ran across were very friendly and that's why I'll go back one more time. I'm sure running a restaurant is harder than I can imagine and I'll give them grace. The ambience was pretty good, down home kinda vibe and the prices are great!

Great server. Lots of lunch worker crowd. A long line but it moved FAST. Food was as expected. Great steamed cabbage with the meatloaf.

Our drink orders were taken promptly, and when the drinks arrived, they also took our food order -- smooth and attentive service from start to finish. We started with the buffalo chicken dip with pimento cheese and pita bread, which was outstanding. The pita was perfectly toasted on the outside while staying warm and soft on the inside -- absolutely delicious. For our meals, I ordered the Down South Chicken Sandwich, and my girlfriend chose the Korean BBQ Chicken Sandwich. Both were excellent. We cut them in half so we could try each other's, and honestly, I loved both. The flavors, freshness, and quality really stood out. I live in Greenville, and I would gladly make the 50-minute drive just to eat here again. Amazing food, friendly service, and a great overall experience. Highly recommend -- I'll definitely be back soon!

You'd be better off grabbing a box of Spinx chicken and a tall boy. As for the atmosphere--just a few neon lights trying (and failing) to distract from the fact that what they call "hot" is barely lukewarm. Update for the owners response: We ordered the Flocking Hot sauce on our sandwich. What we received was essentially the no-heat sauce with a few pepper flakes sprinkled in. We even asked for extra sauce, assuming there had been a mistake in reading the ticket--but the ramekin was the same: no heat, just pepper flakes. It was mild enough that my children dipped their nuggets in it. Rather than becoming defensive, it may be more productive to address and rectify the consistency and accuracy issues being pointed out.

But then the owner and chef came out. This healthy, slim, young man of God greeted us with a smile that was genuinely filled with the Spirit of the Lord. From that moment on, the atmosphere shifted. This is a family-oriented business that makes you feel like you've known these people your whole life. That kind of warmth and connection is a lost art, and it was refreshing to experience it again. I truly wish I could show you the presentation of the food because it was soooo unbelievably good. Actually, I will, because today I'm taking my whole family back for Sunday dinner, and I got y'all, internet . This place is tucked away, but let me tell you, just on quality and quantity alone, it can put a lot of restaurants out of business. Wade's is literally down the street, and don't get me wrong, Wade's food is good. But when you find out the food you're eating is actually blessed, it hits different. We later found out the owner is a pastor, which makes perfect sense, especially when you taste the food. My meal was the Pastor P Party Wings, collard greens, baked mac and cheese, and potato salad. And when I say "out of this world," I mean exactly that. The flavors had my palate going crazy. Everything was perfectly balanced, seasoned just right, not overly salty, which is so easy to mess up with this type of food, but that was absolutely not the case here. This isn't just food, it's an experience. You really have to go for yourself to understand it. When you go, come back here and tell me about it because I want to hear everything. I'm all ears. May you be blessed, and may God keep you safe until next time.

Visited: Friday, June 13th, 2025…read more We decided to check this place out, and overall, it was a solid experience with a lot of potential! Here's the full scoop Ambiance: There's a nice amount of outdoor seating with a chill vibe. Inside, the space is cozy and clean--nothing fancy, but definitely inviting. I loved that the buffet is behind glass and served by staff --much more hygienic than your typical buffet setup. Pricing: Shoutout to them for offering a senior buffet price of $9.99, compared to the regular $16.99. That's super appreciated when you're dining out with parents or older relatives . Drinks: We ordered jugo de maracuyá (passionfruit juice). The flavor was there, but the pulp kept floating to the top, so the texture was a little odd. Still refreshing though! Food Experience: My mom started with the buffet and felt the food was lukewarm--not cold, but definitely not hot either . No heat lamps or lids on the trays might be the reason. Thankfully, the manager, Jesús, was amazing and open to feedback. He told us the place is under new ownership (just a few months in), so I'm hopeful improvements are coming. My husband also had the buffet and really enjoyed the rice and beans --well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. I ordered the Mar y Tierra mofongo platter , which came with: Garlic shrimp, Steak, Arroz con gandules, Fresh salad, And oddly... beans, even though the rice already had pigeon peas? The mofongo was great, and the salad was fresh and crisp. The steak and garlic sauce were both flavorful but unfortunately super salty--I couldn't finish it. The dish itself could definitely feed two people though! Dessert Letdown: I asked for tres leches cake, and I'm so glad I've learned to smell it before digging in. The milk had definitely gone bad . It's tricky with that kind of dessert since it spoils quickly if not stored right, since it consists of three different milks. Service: Top-notch. Jesús (manager) was kind, professional, and genuinely cared about our experience. Cris, our waitress, was sweet and attentive--she kept our table spotless and always checked if we needed refills or anything else. 10/10 for service --- Final Verdict: Great service Clean and comfortable setting Good flavors (but watch the salt) Affordable for seniors Just needs better temperature control and fresher desserts Would I come back? Yes. Especially to see how it improves over time with the new owners.

The one server, who seemed very pleasant, spoke no English so the ordering was very difficult. We couldn't even make one ounce of headway with the language barrier. Luckily a customer come to our rescue. . I ended up just saying we want what he has. and with his help, we got our order in. The food was very good. We enjoyed the flavors of the food. The Leche cake was very good. The biggest thing was there wasn't any prices anywhere. We had no idea how much things cost. There is just a chalk board with the food selections. So 1 entree, 1 dessert cake, 2 waters cost $26 without tip. I'm not sure if we will return.
