I had a great sales experience at McCombs Ford West, which I wasn't sure was even possible these days. I had to replace a car that was totaled, and I live out in the sticks. I had a specific vehicle in mind, and my online searches said that there were two of them on dealer lots in San Antonio. I took a day off of work to drive down there and take a look. I went to the first one that was closer, and when I got there, I found that while the dealership was open, all of the sales staff was off that day. It was December 23rd, the day before Christmas Eve, and I guess that wasn't unreasonable, though it was inconvenient to me after driving 100 miles. I didn't think to call to see if a dealership was open on a Friday. I called the second dealership, McCombs, and talked to George. He told me that they were indeed selling cars that day, and when I told him which car I was looking for, he said they they would have it ready and gave me detailed directions on how to get there from where I was, not being very familiar with the city. I used GPS, but it was a nice touch. When I got there, George met me at the door and introduced me to Sam Jabal, who would be taking care of the sale. The car was all ready, sitting at the door ready for the test drive. We drove it around a bit, and my wife loved it. We decided to make the purchase. This was the fastest, smoothest new car purchase that I've ever made. I already had financing arranged with my long-time credit union, so I'm sure that made things easier, but I do that every time I buy a car. I was in-and-out in very little time, maybe only two hours from walking in and driving out. Sam didn't have a tough job, since I came in to buy a specific car. There wasn't any haggling. I'd been researching the car for a couple of weeks while I was waiting for my insurance, and I had been seeing that this particular model often had dealer markups and long waits because there aren't very many of them. Getting the car at MSRP was a good enough deal for me, so I was happy at not starting out above MSRP to begin with. I wanted to add an accessory, but Sam pointed out that I would be getting Ford points for the purchase, so it might be better to wait for them to post and use that to help pay for the upgrade. After we took care of all of the paperwork, Sam took us out to the car and showed my wife how everything worked, then paired her phone to the car so she could use it while driving home. A few days after the sale, Sam called me to ask how everything was going. We love the car, and we're very happy with the purchase. From my experience, I have nothing but good things to say about McCombs. The entire purchase process was very quick and efficient, and it was the first new car purchase that I've ever made that let me leave the dealership in a good mood. read more

This is the most unprofessional Ford dealership service department. This is the last time I will be buying a Ford. You have to make an appointment to leave your car there for almost 3 weeks for warranty work that is very basic in nature. I'm just tired of it every single time they do the same thing and then try to give you free work to compensate for how terrible they have been as a service department. Today I tried to buy an extended warranty to make sure my car continues to be covered as I have been in the service shop so many times. My wife dropped her 2021 Ford off for a scheduled warranty oil change at 9:45 am. I picked her up from the dealer at 10:30am and she was told the truck would be ready in four hours. Our daughter took her back to pick the vehicle up at 3pm and was told, at that point, that it wasn't ready and that they had been "backed up" all day. As she arrived home at 3:30pm she received a phone call from this dealer saying the truck was being pulled into a bay at that moment. What is unacceptable is that they never notified her of the backup issue, not when she dropped the truck off, and not even when the four hour (for an oil change?) time frame had come and gone. No courtesy call at all? Honestly it seems EVERYONE else must have been prioritized ahead of her, until she walked in and asked for her vehicle. Only after that point did they jump on her vehicle. Unacceptable! Whatever practice was used to prioritize customers during this "backup" needs to be revisited. My wife has been without a vehicle all day because of something jiffy lube or quick five can do in 5 minutes. We will be making arrangements at another dealer for our warranty and scheduled maintenance. We do not feel this place valued us as customers. This is our experience. We hope yours was/is better. read more

Extremely negative experience with the service staff. Brought my 2022 Bronco Sport (that I purchased new at this location) in for diagnostic after a battery fail and replacement. Also requested service for a safety recall possibly related. I was told they couldn't find my appointment. After multiple attempts they found my appointment but said I would have to leave my vehicle for 4 weeks just for the diagnostic check. Wouldn't include the recall because it wasn't a true safety issue. Was aggressively argumentative with no desire to provide any type of positive customer experience. I will not do business with this dealership ever again and will share this experience with those with my circle of influence. After my vehicle is paid off, I will never deal with McCombs Ford West or a Ford vehicle. It's a disappointment when you take your vehicle in for one issue only to find many more issues. The mechanics do not take pride in their work. I can list 10 items that were neglected or been man handled on my transmission/engine. Customer service is just as bad. It took 3 days to get a response by email after calling, leaving voicemail and emails. I can't speak for all Ford dealerships, but if you get your vehicle serviced here, I recommend you have a second person to review your vehicle for any missing screws, parts, misplaced pipes, etc. read more

Aug 20, 2021 bought a new $72,000 Hybrid Ford F-150 pickup truck. Within a week I started receiving an error Telling me that the fuel door was open. In addition the check engine light stay down all the time. So every time I get into the truck, I have to press the OK button to turn off the fuel door open light. Very frustrating and I don't know what future damage could be done to the engine of this truck. The issue I have is that the McCombs Ford West dealership will not even talk to me about the issue. I went there today, 16 September at around 9:30 AM and talk to your parts department, they were very helpful and identified the part that I needed. They told me for it to be covered under warranty I would need service department to sign it off. I spoke to your senior service advisor, Mr Wright, who simply told me to make an appointment and wait. I told him I had an appointment for two months out but I knew the part that I needed I want to get it ordered under warranty. He told me it's not his problem. I told him I shouldn't have to pay for a part covered under warranty. He just walked away into the back. This is why I don't buy anymore vehicles from McCombs Ford West (I've bought three vehicles in the past for about $200,000). Their professionalism, caring attitude and desire to help it's completely gone. It was obvious Mr Wright just doesn't want to help anyone. Avoid the customer and maybe they will go away. It would've taken Mr Wright 2 to 3 minutes to validate my request and tell the parts department to order it under warranty. So I just paid $182 out of pocket because this guy is so lazy and cares nothing for the customers. read more

My salesman, Samuel, was fantastic. Our test drive in 2 vehicles amounted to a masterclass in how to work everything on a PHEV. I loved the experience and went home in the car of my dreams. The credit guy did try to sell me extended warranties but actually heard me say no, thank you. I had not brought the title or extra hardware with me as I was just doing research that day, but when they offered interest free financing, I had to say yes. Samuel drove an hour and a half to my house to pick up the title and whatnot for my Subaru the next morning. I'm not sure I could bet better service than that. read more

We bought a truck here in 2021 and that experience was 2-star based off us being sold a different truck of what was on paper vs what was delivered. The Sales team did add features to the truck to "make it right" (tires, side step and tint), but acted as if they were doing us a favor. Fast forward almost a year later and multiple visits to the Service dept and it has only gotten worse. They have kept our truck for several days and it's just parked with no activity (we can monitor on the Ford app). Why give the customer an appointment day and time if you're not going to work on the vehicle? The Service Advisor responded with "I don't know" and her manager, Director - Jesse, doesn't respond to phone calls or emails. I wouldn't recommend to buy a truck here nor get it serviced. read more

The salespeople are nice enough, and the Quick Lane staff is really cool. The Service Dept process is what gets a negative review: their "appointment" system is trash. I go to the dealer because I have an issue. Car is still under warranty. An advisor tells me that I can either leave my car with them - which may not get looked at for 4-5 days - or I can make an appointment. Cool. An appointment means APPOINTMENT, right? Wait the days/weeks for the appointment time, then find out - No. "Appointment" to these people means "a coordinated dropoff", and that my vehicle may not be LOOKED AT for 3-5 days still, due to availability of techs. So you might be asking yourself,"Well... then what the hell is the point of making an appointment then??" I have no idea... NO OTHER appointment system, walk-in, etc. works like this... because this is borderline disgusting-level dumb. I'm forced to believe this is intentional - to frustrate customers into going elsewhere and paying for repairs (non-reimbursable) rather than waiting additional weeks for warranty work. Loaner vehicles for customers during these ridiculous situations - even for ones who purchased their vehicle here? Nah... Terrible. read more

We own several Fords and have bought from different dealers thru out Texas with little difficulty. Ordered vehicle a year ago and I understand Fords delivery not dealers fault but wait a year and then have dealer tell you price is higher for both truck and supercharger than original agreement even though sticker remains the same....WOW. Raised supercharger that was agreed on by 2K. This whole time I passed on a few good deals because McCombs comments were "don't worry we will make it worth your wait" sure did...not. Had to deal with multiple persons none of which told me the same thing. Really...increase price on vehicle that is now considered last year's model. Red Mccombs is completely dishonest in my opinion and made what should have been a good event into a miserable experience. My advise is look elsewhere. read more

So if you want an honest dealership avoid this place . Where do I begin . Went in Friday , did all the financing stuff , was told to wait till the next day by John Gatewood , who btw is a total POS. Got called Saturday and was told that everything was good , we can get a deal done. ATTN: MILITARY - AVOID THIS PLACE. Dropped our Ford Escape off at McCombs Ford West on the 7th of Oct since our lease period was up. Signed an inspection and was told we were good to go and everything else would be handled. Here we are mid December now and they still have not filed the correct paperwork. In fact, they tried to file paperwork with false information on it to avoid any repercussion from their failure to file in Oct. I was working with an Alex who was extremely unhelpful and Zach from finance, the one person who can help, is unreachable and has not returned any left messages. Everyone I talk to is great and helpful which is a shame because the one person I need to talk to is never available. Meanwhile, I'm not paying for a car I don't have so credit scores for my wife and have dropped over a hundred points until this mess gets resolved. But the dealership has refused to backdate the paperwork which will resolve all the issues. If they ever pick up or return my calls. No apology for the inconvenience. He is still trying to sell a car. For next couple of days, I kept receiving sales phone calls from several numbers and I had to block them. I dealt with the sales person named Fabian Amaro. I showed up to the dealership and told him exactly what I wanted. He informed me that there was a Ranger that was specked out to exactly what I wanted but that it was in transport to the dealership. It was not on site. He assured me that it would have everything that I wanted. We wasted no time and getting the paperwork done. In less than one weeks time, I was there picking up my brand new 2022 Ford ranger XLT. I have been nothing but happy with this truck. I will definitely return to this dealership and will request to work with Fabian again when the time comes. read more
