We had a last minute tip on openings for Memorial Day weekend. We really needed to get out for our…read moremental health and get some exercise. The location is ideal. Middle of nowhere, across the street from the riverside kayak dock. Not too far from home but far enough it feels like we got away. We arrived Friday evening. Full park. Full hookup site with a patio area, and fire pit. Our site was the second space across from the clubhouse, store, and pool. Thankfully the pool was closed or it would have been a very annoying visit to hear yelling and splashing kids all day. The site was fine. Backed in our 35' 5-er just fine because we beat a few people across the road. It would have been very tight otherwise. We are fully self contained, so with the exception of check-in we kept away from everyone else. It was surprisingly easy. Their store has a lot of necessary items but mostly treats to make your stay a bit campier. We biked 10 miles to town and back. Dropped in for some kayaking too. Read the signs. There are red runs for advanced kayakers on the river. Logjams, and very high water really made for exceptional conditions. We got to a point we had to turn back and paddle upstream to the launch site at riverside. River was too obstructed. Also note, there is no getting off the river between riverside and the 10.5 miles into town. I don't recommend it. The 2.5 mile run from Bundy rd is quick and easy. Check river conditions before attempting any run. The high waters change river landscapes. I hope you have your own equipment because the rental places either aren't open or they blow you off. Back to the campsite. With all of that, the KOA was central to all the activity. Easy to maintain distance and still get out and be active. Great activities for kids with the jump pad and pond to catch frogs. The facility offers a perk of charging your store purchases to your site, so you don't always have to have money on you. They deliver pizza, Fire wood and ice. They also pickup trash daily between 8am-6pm. Staff is very friendly and quick with a smile and well-wishes. We'd surely go again but would get the deluxe patio site on the concrete. The rain storm Sunday night flooded a lot of sites.

We have done many farms/orchards and this one was bottom of the list unfortunately. We dropped by the winery and it felt like you were transported to a 2004 club with the tacky lights mixed with a clammy dungeon feel. Although it was $10 for 5 tastings, the ambiance negated the price. (The only decently priced feature.) If you have kids, they will for sure be stimulated and you're good to go. But otherwise for adults that want delicious cider, donuts and a calm u-pick experience, check out Famhaus Farms for a cleaner and more serene experience.

Robinette's featured a small kids play area, apple picking, hard cider/wine in the bottom of the barn (note that alcohol cannot leave this space), a farm store, apple cider pressing on site (loved seeing this firsthand!) and a bakery with classic items like apple fritters and donuts. We grabbed an apple cider slushy and enjoyed some time in the playscape as well as a walk through the orchard. It was quite busy during our visit. Too bad you can't bring the alcoholic beverages out of the space. They also had a handful of farm animals in a petting area which was great for the kiddos.

Just flew through Omaha again and it reminded me why we actually enjoy using this airport. While…read morethere is currently some construction going on, it still manages to feel small, efficient, and easy to navigate compared to many larger airports. Getting in and out is straightforward, parking is convenient, and the shuttle service to the terminal is quick and painless. We never feel like we need to arrive ridiculously early just to survive the experience. Inside the terminal there are enough food and drink options to grab a snack, relax for a bit, or enjoy the obligatory pre-flight cocktail before boarding. Seating areas are comfortable and the overall atmosphere feels much less chaotic than many major hubs. TSA has consistently been friendly during our trips, and security lines move surprisingly fast, which definitely helps take some of the stress out of traveling. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly because the airport is showing its age in certain areas and the ongoing construction can make parts of the experience feel a little less polished right now. That said, the convenience factor is hard to beat. For travelers in the Omaha area, this is one of those airports that simply gets the job done without turning travel day into a headache. We fly through here often and will gladly continue to do so.
