We used McCoy Boys to install mini-splits in both of our rentals. Their professionalism was great up front and quotes were competitive. But boy in the end, do I wish we had gone with a different company! All units worked okay for about a month or so. Then we started running into issues with the units. Initially they were quite responsive to fit us in to come check on the units and make "quick fixes." I was always told something different was wrong, and I was never given a full explanation of what they had to do to fix the problems. I started pushing back and letting them know that I was concerned with how often they had to come to fix problems with the units. The second summer using the AC mini splits, we again started having problems, dripping inside, large sounds coming from the units, units not pushing out cool air, etc. long story short, we were told that their labor warranty was only for one year, so they would not come to fix anything. we had other HVAC experts inspect the units, and we came to find out that all of the units were installed very poorly and had to be completely redone in order to function properly. Our large unit had a leak in the piping and had leaked $500 worth of Freon in only 1.5 years! (which is unheard of). I let the owner, Steve know about this, as well as challenging him that they have a one year labor warranty. Nowhere on the contract I signed does it say this, and I sent him emails with photos as proof and got no response from him. This is the start of our third summer, and we had to have another hvac company come out to repair the units, since Steve and James now completely ignore my calls and emails. In my opinion, they owe us thousands of dollars at this point. So disgusting and disappointing. Do NOT use this company for anything!! read more

Just told my wife she needed a new 70,000 BTU furnace, new water pan and condensate pump for $4800 + $1000 to run new power and ground. Update new R4 and AC for $4000. Steve told me he will be at my place at a certain time. I shifted all my meetings and arranged my days to accommodate our meeting as we agreed. No one showed up, or reached out to say anything (or take any responsibility). I tried reaching out to him the next day, got no response. This is not how it works, people are adjusting themselves and when someone schedules an appointment with me, I make it 5 minutes before. If I can`t make it - I`ll make sure they know. Maybe they do a good job, but Integrity comes first - you can`t make it? fine, just let the client know. You guys suck. read more

The technicians who came to do the installation were punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. It took them about 4-5 hours and I'm thrilled with the upgrades they did. Our AC went out in July :( After having one company come out and try to sell us a 13 SEER AC for over $7k, another company fail to come out and provide a quote, the James of the McCoy Boys came out the day we called, provided us a full range of quotes and went over every option in great detail discussing the pros and cons of each option. All 6 quotes were more than $2k lower than first company. When we decided on which unit we wanted to purchase, the McCoy Boys were able to come out within 2 days and replaced our unit and coil. In less than 4 hours of showing up we had cool air blowing though out house. They were great. read more

That was several years ago (pre-yelp). In the meantime, I've called Steve twice for various service jobs and he is always very prompt, friendly, and extremely fair on price. If there was an option for zero stars that's what I would give this company. Let me start off by saying I have a toddler and I'm 6 months pregnant. That being said our air conditioner went out on Saturday. My husband googled a company that was near us and Mccoy Boys came up. They were able to come over that day. They went from the outside unit and downstairs several times never opening the panel of unit in basement. They then told my husband that we were extremely low on freon. They concluded we had a leak in the coil. They stated they would fill the freon and that could possibly help us for 1-5 years. They put in a tiny bit (1/2 to 1 lb)and said they ran out of freon and would need to call their dad and come back. Mind you our house was 89 degrees. They never came back or called. We contacted NOW heating and air and a fabulous technician Paul came out. We found out that we have no leak and our freon level was fine. Also, the McCoy boys wouldn't know how much freon to add without a scale and they had no scale. Paul took our panel off and saw that our system was frozen. This was due to the coil being clogged with pet hair. Long story short we had to defrost overnight and Paul returned and cleaned the coils. We now have a working AC. The McCoy boys are unreliable, clueless scam artists who have no compassion for a family that was melting in the heat. I do not recommend this company and highly suggest you do not do business with them. read more

We had trouble with our humidifier and they came to fix it. It took them most of the day going back and forth to get parts. Breaking one of the water lines in the process. Never worked right again. Called them to come back and they replaced the same part (celanoid) for the second time. Charged us again for a service call. Called again several times left messages that it still wasn't working right. No call back. When I finally got to talk to Steve was told over the phone that a new one would be $800-$900. No guarantee that a third service call would be included or what was the problem. These guys are bad news. Stay away. read more

Do NOT use McCoy Boys HVAC. I called Steve on a Thursday afternoon asking for a general quote on a job. He told me he could not give me a quote without looking at the job first and agreed to come out at 3pm the next day. By 3:30pm the next day he had not shown up so I called him. He offered no explanation or apology for not showing up to our appointment, but just said he actually didn't need to look at the job and gave me a quote over the phone. He then agreed to come out the next Monday at 4:30pm (unless an emergency call came in) to make the repairs. I called him at 4:45 on Monday and he said I had told him he didn't need to come that day specifically. When I told him my recollection of the conversation he again offered no explanation or apology, just said he wasn't going to be there. After leaving work early TWICE to meet this rude, irresponsible contractor I have chosen to take my business elsewhere. Save yourself so time and stress...do NOT use McCoy Boys! read more
