My wife and I were taking a mini trip to Yosemite. We left at night and was a little worried when our tire pressure light came on. We stopped by a gas station and found a tire that had less air than the others. After we filled it with air, we made it to Modesto to stay the night. Immediately, I went on Yelp to find a tire place to bring the car in the morning. McCoy Tire had great reviews and was close to our hotel. Once again, Yelp did not disappoint. I drove the car to McCoy in the morning and was immediately greeted. I explained what happened and he told me to take a seat in the lobby as he got a serviceman to look at the vehicles. They took out the tire, searched for the source of the leak, and even used the water bath. They found nothing wrong. They readjusted the tire pressure on all four tires and even took the time to reset the computer in the car so that the warning light won't come on. From the time I arrive to the time I left was less than half an hour. The best part, they did this all for FREE. I asked how I can pay them and they said it is their way of taking care of the community. I love the fact that they did not try to sell me something I did not need or charge me a crazy amount for a relatively simple task. I wish more of these types of businesses around. So I hit a pothole, huge dent in my rim, called McCoy and they came and put my spare on, I asked them if I could pay them for that and they said no. My family loves McCoy but my experience was sub-par, I had my front brakes replaced. They squeaked from the day they were installed. I went back and told them I was having problems. I was told they did not have time for me because they had too many "BIG" customers. I have not returned and I am stuck with embarrassing squeaking brakes or spending another $250 to $300 to have the brakes replaced again. Can not recommend. read more

This place is super friendly and very knowledgeable. I just bought a set of new tires, and the guy who help me explained all the options, then asked about my driving and how much I drive. He then recommend the tires that where the most suitable for my needs. I'm saying this because he did not try and put the most expensive tires, or any other products and services. This is how they keep customers around. If you've been in business for over 65 years, there has to be something that is working. After a tire blowout this past weekend, I drove me and my donut sporting Jeep Patriot over to McCoy to see if I needed to replace just two, or all four tires. Anyone who's owned a Patriot long enough to need new tires, knows that Patriot tires are "rare" and REALLY, REALLY expensive. Being I could not afford to purchase the tires until the end of the week, but needed them NOW, I was able to apply for a Firestone credit card directly through the McCoy website, and instantly approved. I first emailed McCoy to ask a quote of four tires, thinking that's what I'd end up having to buy. The owner (I think), Randy, got back to me within a half hour with a quote. When I had another question, I called him and he was very friendly and helpful. Turns out the shop is just two blocks from my office; VERY convenient! He told me to bring my Jeep in that afternoon and he'd let me know if I needed 4 or just 2 tires, as it's been a while since I replaced the other as well. When I got there and parked, Randy was already walking across the parking lot to meet me and take my keys to pull the Jeep up to be looked at. He directed his crew on what I needed, and they got to work on it within a minute of me showing up. Talk about speedy service! A few minutes later, Randy assured me that my rear tires were still in great condition, and I only needed to replace the front ones. He also said I needed an alignment. I agreed with him, since the Patriot seems to be possessed by a demon wanting it to veer left at all times. Randy put the order in for my tires, and called me the next afternoon when they were in. I dropped it off around 1:25 p.m., hoofed it the short walk back to my office, and they called me around 3:45 p.m. to let me know it was ready. When I picked it up, the friendly woman behind the counter ran my brand spanking new line of credit and I was on my way within 10 minutes. Also, all four of my tires were sparkly and new looking because they took the time to wipe them down with some shiny stuff. And it drives like the day I bought it after the alignment. GREAT call, Randy! Being a woman who has had creepy "car salesmen" type service before when servicing my car, I appreciated Randy's honesty, excellent customer service, and seemingly caring helpfulness. He could have easily persuaded me to spend big money on four tires, but didn't. I will absolutely be going to this McCoy location for tire service from now on. read more

I have recently had to outfit two vehicles with new tires and each experience was extremely Pleasant. The first was for a trailer which needed for new tires. They have them in stock and was able to swap them out while I waited. It took less than an hour. I was very happy because I was not looking forward to dropping off a trailer and having to come back and reconnect it. It's not that big of a hassle, but they just had me back into a bay, and they got started. The next was for my truck. The dealership had offered me a special for tires but I did not feel very informed as to any of the details regarding the tires that were being offered to me. McCoy went out of their way to explain to me what I was getting, the expected life span, and the warranty. The price may have been a little bit higher at McCoy then the two other places that I had called, but the customer service I received from McCoy tires was unmatched. That matters. I have another vehicle that will need tires in the next couple of months and I will be returning. read more

I have to start by saying I don't normally go to McCoy tire. I go to a different tire company for all my tire needs (my family has gone to this company for 40+ years). But this morning I found myself in a bind my tire shop is closed and my low pressure light was on for my tire. I was at a loss at what to do. I can't say enough about the service at McCoy, it was fantastic! I had picked up a bolt in my tire on my way to work and hadn't realized it till I went to leave work at 5pm to a completely flat tire. I was freaking out as I called McCoys, I had no clue how I was going to get my car to them by closing, my tire was completely flat. Randy the owner calmed me down and let me know they were sending out one of their guys to fill up my tire so I could drive over to get it fixed. He got there really quickly and filled up my tire and lead me to the shop. Once we got there they quickly got it fixed and on my way all before closing. Several times I have had another mechanic try and sell me on something, or miss something (like shot wheel bearings!), then brought the car to Randy and the boys and gotten an actual, truthful appraisal and correction. AWESOME!! We hit a big pot hole the night before a long road trip. The tire that took the brunt of it seemed OK in the driveway at home, but in the morning was flat. I used our spare to get us to Modesto. I found McCoy on Google and we just trusted the 5 stars. They discovered our rim was bent, but the tire was OK. They straighten out the wheel put the tire back on, re-inflated the spare. But here comes the best part....THEY DIDN'T CHARGE US. I was stunned. We thanked them profusely and are back on the road as I write this (I'm not driving). We don't live near Modesto, but if you live anywhere near it, I would highly recommend McCoy Passenger Tire. They were so kind to fix our problem, no charge. We're not even regular customers, but they just made me one. read more

Today was my second purchase at McCoy tires. Randy took my order both times. Last year, Randy came out and said, "Good news, those tires were on recall. I got you a rebate for both." That was great, especially since one of them had bubbled and split. (They came on the truck when I bought it used... from Sacramento). This year, I had the same great experience. Randy was energetic and clear. I forgot my online coupon. But, the cashier found the coupon and printed it out for me. Saved me $20! I researched carefully for quotes, McCoy had the best price. They removed all 4 tires, rotated them, and even replaced my spare to the underbelly of my truck (I'd been hauling it around in the bed). 5 stars across the board for McCoy tires on 9th street. read more

Made an appointment for an alignment. Was helped right away. I was asked by the mechanic for basic info such my name, year/make/model and telephone number. Then I asked if there was a waiting room. He said yes and I could waitre near the car or the waiting room..... No problem. Then after the mechanic test drove and checked alignment with the machine. He gave me 3 options: 1. To have a proper alignment He stated that I needed an adjustable camber arm. And with labor, the part, and alignment it would be $310. 2. Do an alignment without the camber arm and as long as my previous tires didn't have uneven wear. I'm uncertain of the previous tire wear since I installed brand new tires. 3. Or leave with no alignment done and be charged ~$45 I stated that I would not pay because this was not Mentioned before the alignment check was done. So he went and got a guy named Tony to talk to me to say the same thing. And again I choose no alignment and that I would not pay because I was not told beforehand about alignment check fees. He said fine. To take my car and never come back. read more

I needed an alignment and struts replaced spoke to Joe....during the time the work was being done he noticed the strut mounts were cracked so I had them replaced as well. Overall I felt very comfortable with my experience there the staff was all very professional and above all honest. So next time I need tires I'm coming here! Just had my front breaks replaced. They got me in without an appointment and they were done in an hour. The price was exactly what they quoted me and they let me know about my struts and shocks needing to be replaced soon. I had just got my tires replaced at a different place a few days before and those guys had also mentioned our tires were wearing differently and that we needed to get our struts/ shocks looked at. So it's nice to know the people at McCoy were being honest about my car needing new struts and shocks. They weren't pushy at all, very friendly. Decent prices. Quick service! read more
