After getting an unexpected flat tire today, I needed to find somewhere to get it replaced. I found McCoy Tire on Yelp and wasn't let down. Service was friendly, fast and efficient. (I walked in at 4:50PM and walked out at 5:20PM with no appointment.) I felt comfortable that they were giving me the best deal possible and felt that they genuinely wanted to help me. I went ahead and replaced two of my tires today (I knew they were getting worn and nearing the end of their life span,) and plan to come back in the next couple of months to replace the other two. read more

I was with my running group today getting ready to run next weekends Modesto Marathon. I parked in a parking place with a concrete stop. When I backed off of it I pulled the plastic protective plate off and it was dragging. I stopped at McCoy Tire on 9th street and asked if they could help me. True professionals, great prices, friendly welcoming environment. Went in to get my tires mounted on some rims I had just recently got powder coated, two guys used great teamwork to complete the job. I had a semi flat tire and called them ASAP. I found this out when I was on the freeway driving with my dog. I came in and they checked my tire right away. They patched up the leak properly, filled the rest of my tires and I was on my way. I offered to pay for the inspection and they said it was ok no worries. I was very lucky to be close by. I took my truck to another tire shop first. The only thing they tried to sell me was new brake pads and tires. I took it to McCoy after and they found out I had a bearing out and showed it to me before repairing it. Then they said I did need new brake pads, only on one side. Called to get a quote to change my tires to a new set of wheels and I was quoted $150, I went there two days later and they wanted to charge me $200. I told them that I was quoted $150 over the phone but the person behind the counter refused to give me the $150 price point. I was about to leave when I decided to just have it done for $200 but I wanted them to insured me that they would be responsible if some damage (scratches) was to happened to my wheels during the installation but they refuse to do that, I was told that if they damage my wheels during installation they would not be responsible. Buyer beware, thought I was quoted Michelins got UniRoyals. Get your quote on paper and not over the phone. When calling around for quotes, I was quoted Michelins for a very good price from McCoy Tire on McHenry Ave by Brad the Manager. Made an appt, dropped my car off, went to Marshalls, returned to McCoy Tire, looked at my tires and they had put on UniRoyals. Of course very upset, had a conversation with the guy on duty, that's when I found out that Michelins manufacture Uniroyals. I then received a text from Brad asking if their service met my needs. (Guy on duty, must have mentioned I was very upset). I replied and let him know his service did not meet my needs and a few other choice comments. He then replied to my text telling me he told me on the phone that Uniroyals are considered Michelins and had referred to them as "2nd Label". NEVER DID HE MENTION THE NAME UNIROYALS TO ME OR THAT THEY WERE 2ND LABEL. I took notes when he quoted me the Michelins/UniRoyals, referred to my notes to be sure and nope, never wrote down 2nd Labe or UniRoyalsl. Being a shopper, I would have asked what do you mean "2nd Label". I want to know if I'm buying 2nds. Any way, long story short. Get it on paper. And oh yeah, they are no longer affiliated with the McCoy Tire on 9th St. So they have not been in business for 70 years, only 2-3 years. The 9th street owner sold off the McHenry store. read more
