I bought a bike here a while back and it was made with faulty rims. So when I called about having it fixed they were aware of the problem but would not help me because they said they are no longer a Schwinn dealer. They gave me the phone # for Schwinn and told me to call them. Well when I called Schwinn they told me it would be no problem to send out the rims for free but I needed a bike shop to order them through. Since I originally purchased the bike from Mccully Bike shop I thought it would be appropriate for them to order the rims from Schwinn, at first they refused to do it and after a couple of calls from me to Schwinn and to Mccully Bike shop, they agreed to order the rims. Mccully Bike shop called me back and said they had ordered the rims from Schwinn and they would be at the store in about a week. Well after two weeks, I had not heard from Mccully Bike shop so I called to check with them to see if they had got the rims in and the person I spoke with (in the bike department) had no idea what I was talking about. So I then decided to call Schwinn to check with them to see if they had shipped the rims to the bike shop yet. Well Schwinn had never received an order from Mccully bike shop. Since I had such a hard time with Mccully Bike shop, Schwinn made an exception and sent the rims to me direct and one week later my rims arrived at my door with absolutely no help from Mccully Bike shop. read more

since buying my bike at mccully bike shop, i've had it serviced twice at their repair shop (not on-site, on hausten road just south of king). they did an excellent job both times and when the repair was fairly minor, they didn't even charge me. they do tune ups for $25 (when other shops in the area charge $75) and they can usually look at your bike right away and fix it while you wait. This place is light years better than Bikefactory. Cheaper prices (got a similiar chain for HALF the price, almost the same as online stores) and you can actually return something, instead of getting a stupid credit like at Bikefactory with their secret no returns policy. read more

I went in to the shop to browse bicycles just to see what was available in my price range. One of the employees showed me a bike that matched my needs, but it was priced higher than I could afford. The bike was used-someone bought it from McCully and returned it. The frame had several pretty deep scratches, so the employee said he could give me a pretty good deal, and quoted me a price. As the quoted price was within my budget, I spent about an hour trying the bike out, comparing it to others. I decided that the used bike would make a good match and the quoted price offered was in my budget. I asked one of the employees if they would possibly consider going down $20 since the bike was pretty badly scratched up. The employee went to talk to the manager, and he came back saying that the manager would offer the bike for no less than a higher price than was originally quoted to me, a price that was not in my budget. I was so disappointed that I spent all that time looking at the bike and thinking that buying it was a real possibility. It is extremely unprofessional for employees to be quoting prices for items that are not going to be honored. They got my hopes up and wasted my time. read more

Ok, from a cyclist point of view, they have a pretty good selection of bikes, as in they actually carry different sizes and brands unlike the Bike Shop. But it seems like they don't restock their bike gear too much. If something is there and you want it, (like a saddle or certain pedals) you better buy it then and there or you may never see them carry it again. Their mechanics on Hausten St. are a great help and their services cost from little to nothing. read more

I went in to do a bit of handlebar customizing (I don't need this hot rod and am making it a 'cruzer). They gave me a great suggestion, had me bring my bike indoors so I could install and gave me the hex wrench so I could tune it on the "drive" home (which I needed). Can't ask for better service. This review is for the bike repair shop on Hausten. THEY ARE THE BEST! We drop off our bikes here once a year to get a good tune up because the uncles here are awesome! I dropped of our bikes on Thursday before the Memorial Day weekend...they helped me get both bikes out of the car, which was so nice because I don't have the strength to do it by myself. I went back the Tuesday after the long weekend to pick them up, but one of our bikes weren't ready...they said they could have it ready to us in half an hour. So we went food shopping to bide the time and came back in about 45 minutes and it was done! I rode my bike in this morning and it's like a brand new bike! They cleaned the chain, put in a new brake cable so I just have to touch the brake and it stops on a dime (will have to get used to that since I used to have to push down REALLY HARD to get it to stop!) We love the service there! We feel that the uncles just really love what they do--fixing bikes--and the quality and love that they put into the bikes shows in the end! I don't write a lot of reviews but I simply had to come on here and sing McCully Bicycle's praises. I bought my first bike in around 13 years from them- a Giant Revel 1 2013- a lovely bike and I got it for about $75 below list price, not bad. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Here's what impressed me. I've been riding the bike for nearly a month and just recently had to take the front and rear wheels off so I could drive my bike to a location. Well, I ended up messing up the shifters in the process since I didn't know what I was doing. I ended up attempting to fix the problem on my own this afternoon (sunday)- by following youtube instructions. Well long story short I ended up making things worse and further miss-aligning my de-railers. I looked up the Repair center hours and discovered they were closing in just under an hour. I called and asked if they thought they could do anything before close and they said they'd take a look at it. I arrived at about 4:30 with my rear tire in hand since I'm so bad at putting it back on. The repair guys there took it all in stride and immediately started working on the bike. Within about 15 minutes they'd re-aligned and adjusted my shifters. In fact the repairman patiently showed me some tips on how to avoid this problem in the future. Especially considering that I showed up last minute on a Sunday with a partially disassembled bike I was amazed at the service I received. On top of this already great service, since I'd just purchased a bike from them, he wouldn't take any money for his work. Simply amazing. I'm glad I supported this local business in purchasing my bike from them- I know where I'll be going if I need any further repairs not to mention any accessories. read more

I'm new to the whole riding bike thing, I bought a bike that needed work because I'm really interested in tinkering and fixing things. Zib (I'm sorry if I got it wrong) was super helpful. I was looking for a lock, and I needed a really good one because I really can not afford to have someone take my bike. I ended up buying a Kryptonite lock,and I'd have to say, I'm so thankful I did. I feel like my bike is going to be safe! I came back about two hours later to get new cables for the bike, and they were super affordable! I was surprised that they were under 5 bucks because bike parts are pretty expensive, or so it seems so to me.The cashier and other employees were really friendly. They sent me over to the warehouse and they were super nice to me there has well! I only wanted one side done, but the guy that was fixing my bike ended up fixing the other side as well in less then 10 minutes! It was a really nice gesture! I feel safe when I'm riding my bike now, thanks to the lovely people there! I'm definitively coming back here when I get more money to fix up my bike! read more

Great selection and most affordable in town especially when they have sales on bikes and accessories. I always find my gels, supplements and sports drinks here when other stores run out, especially right before a race weekend. Most staff are friendly, though there are others that look quite young and too shy to say hi to customers --- but they turn out to be very helpful and friendly once you approach them for help. I just visited here this morning, and they were very helpful! I was looking for a specific lanyard and they only had one of the type that I was looking for. The cashier called multiple sporting goods stores for me, and found out that they also don't have them. The cashier then suggested other stores that I could visit to look for the lanyard (and turns out one of the stores had it!). She was very friendly and helpful. I saw other customers trying out bikes within and outside of the store, and the other cashier seemed very friendly too. Boom! I was blown away with the level of customer service this place offered when purchasing a new bike. Wren walked me through each model for commuter bikes and let me ride them outside and on the roof. They have an excellent selection of bikes and accessories. I ended up purchasing a commuter bike and they installed all the accessories. They offer a 10% military discount, and they gave me a little more discount because I purchased quite a bit. Now I have a great bike I can ride around the Honolulu area. I am beyond satisfied with my new purchase. I love riding my bike around the area, and it's so my easier than driving in the traffic. I'm also impressed with how much more you can do in the area with a bike. I've discovered a lot of things I would have never seen walking or driving. These guys are real pros. Largest and best selection on Oahu. The only shop I have found on the island that sells bikes and gear less than MSRP without having to haggle. I brought a friend of mine in to the service department to have his fork replaced, and they not only had the fork he actually needed on hand, but they bought the fork he brought but didn't fit. They hooked him up with a nice headset, charged him less than he expected, and had it finished same day. Their sales people are exactly right - not pushy but easy to get help from when you're ready. They have a military discount. I do not hesitate when I tell my friends about this bike shop. The only gripe I have is the parking is in the back and you have to walk clear around the store to get to the door, but that's small beans compared to the super good everything else. read more

Simply put, these guys are the best. After having repairs done at other bicycle shops throughout the island I can attest that they are the best deal on island. With the price, quality, and turn around time they simply come out on top. I've been able to drop a bicycle off that had a problem that would normally take other bicycle shops several days to do but it only takes them about half a day. Stayed in Waikiki on vacation and a friend loaned us a bicycle for the week we were here. Unfortunately, hubby got a flat tire the first day, which was a Sunday. The hotel concierge was not able to find us a bike repair shop on Sunday, but I did a goggle search and found them. Fortunately we had a car and they fixed the bike quickly and reasonably. my son's bike had sat for the better part of a year. rust had formed in numerous places. the gears weren't aligned,.and worse, the part of the frame where the derailleuer was mounted was bent and the chain was rubbing against the rear spokes. these guys at McCully repaired it all and had the bike performing in good working order. and all that they charged me was $10. they even lubricated the chain. the bike purrs and shifts between gears smoothly and quietly. McCully Bike Repair needs to show up on the "Best of Honolulu" lists that get published. read more

I came out from California for a week biking on Oahu, then a flight to New Zealand and beyond for more bike touring. I bought a hybrid and accessories from them and they went out of their way to help me, even installing a rack that I had not bought at their store. When I came time to fly on to New Zealand, they didn't just let me have a shipping box, but the owner himself carefully broke the bike down and packed it. I had three hours until my airport shuttle picked me up so they stored my panniers and backpack, which allowed me to wander the neighborhood and find a great shave-ice place. I crashed my bicycle and destroyed the handle bars and front wheel. I took it to the Hausten Street Repair Shop. They repaired it in less than a week, fixed the front wheel, plus added a new rear tire, and gave it a tune up, all for less than $100. They seemed very concerned about saving me money and doing a quality job. It's also my first ever bike tune up and it runs better and faster than the day I bought it. I went to this shop today for the first time in search of a good bicycle that was reasonably priced. I was so pleasantly surprised and delighted with both the selection of bicycles and accessories as well as the wonderful, friendly, helpful service. Wow. Nina greeted me and asked me how she could help me and then she guided me to where I could find the bicycles (the store is full of a nice selection of other sporting goods also). I browsed for a few minutes....surprised at the reasonable prices!.....and then Harris came over to assist me. I had a lot of questions for him and he patiently and knowledgeably answered every single one of them. He offered to allow me to take the bike for a test ride, which I did, and then I bought it....a light-weight, beautiful, 7-speed Giant for just $299....all-in with registration and accessories (basket, bell, lights, which he put on for me) $401. First tune-up included. There is a pump near the front of the store that I can stop in and use any time. I highly recommend this bike shop!!!! I drove all the way from kapolei to look at Hoka one shoes because they weren't in stock at Runners HI. I love Hokas and have owned a few pairs in the past. As my friend and I were standing by the walk way discussing which shoe to buy, this Asian man comes up to us and rudely asks us if a body board needs to be laying in the aisle. We told him we don't know why it was there and weren't looking at body boards. He picks it up and walks away with no apology. That solidified my decision of whether to buy the $160 hoka shoes and we left the store without purchasing the shoes. We saw the man leave the store and jump into an illegally parked car in front of the store. I'm not sure if he was a manager or owner. I later went to Runners HI who was initially out of the shoe but got it in stock. Runners HI is always friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about their inventory. With competition like that I will never shop at Mcully bike shop again. read more
