While I appreciate that this McD's hires people who are clearly disabled, I disagree with them hiring people who cannot read to take orders. There are plenty of jobs for the intellectually disabled there, taking orders isn't one of them. The most basic orders are always screwed up. If you want sweet tea, they can't read the order so you're getting unsweetened. Don't want lettuce? They couldn't care less, they're going to put double on there. The service is crap, the manager acts like customers are her enemy and her employees go wild in there, can't be bothered to actually do any real work. They apparently hire just anyone. So if you have no qualifications, no high school diploma and are intellectually disabled, you can absolutely get a job there. read more

Haven't eaten inside Cal. City's McDonalds fast food restaurant in a long time. Had to ask about when we would get serviced after 22 minutes. It came out quickly at 25 minutes. I was informed by the unfeeling manager pointing to their small sign that they no longer allow refills but served over half filled ice cups so you only get about a 1/3 of your liquid drink. After paying $1.00 for a Meal Deal upgrade only allowed a small soda. I received 8 ketchups which I only ordered 2 after labor intensive menu to adjustments on the kiosk. From this point forward I will drive to Tehachapi's family friendly McDonalds restaurant and feel welcome and not rush to meet the California Ciy's 30 minute loitering time limit posted big so you don't miss it. This is one of the only fast food places in the city and the only chain. Service is always slow and orders are frequently wrong. Unlike most McDonald's this one doesn't offer refills on your drinks. I went in expecting a quick, halfway decent meal, and instead I walked into a filthy, depressing hellhole that looked like no one's cleaned it since the Queen died. Sticky floors, trays left on every table, bins overflowing, and staff standing around like clueless zombies. You could film a horror movie in there and not need props. Now onto the food -- and I'm using that term loosely. Cold, limp fries. A burger that looked like someone sat on it, then dragged it across the floor. The bun was stale, the meat dry as fuck, and whatever sauce was slapped on like a blindfolded toddler had a go. And my drink? Flat, warm piss water. This isn't fast food -- this is fast fucking food poisoning. I'm not expecting fine dining from McDonald's, but I do expect it not to make me gag. You're a global brand. You charge enough. Because I keep our store nice and clean I wipe all the tables clean, I sweep all the floors and take the trash out of the trash and I put clean trash bags in them. Not the fault of the store. (MY disclaimer) The "corporation made app" does not work. The food order is not associated with the vehicle parking place. Order was perfect ($75 worth), 4 times in a row! Tonight the app crashed hard. No orders would go through. So we went to the drive-thru. The food was made horribly. Fries are only filled 3/4 full (4 large fries that way) wax paper on my burger and onions are on 2 of 8 burgers ordered. I was asked 4 separate times to make sure I wanted no onions. I've been coming to this McDonald's for like 10 plus years because it's been one of the only fast food places in my small town to eat. The food is always the same. It's McDonald's, you either like it or you don't. I've had my fair share of wrong orders from here as well as my order being perfectly correct. The wait time for this place is ridiculous sometimes, but it's pretty much our only fast food place to eat so it's never really a complaint. This McDonald's is no different from any other McDonald's you go to, none of them our perfect. My only complaint for this McDonald's is the employees tend to be somewhat on the rude side most of the time, so that's why I'm giving 4 stars. read more

I ordered my food for curbside pickup through the app. When I got there, the app was acting weird, so I went inside to let someone know the issue respectfully. As I'm explaining the issue to the cashier (who was the manager) about my order through the app and the app acting funny, she asks me very condescendingly "so how do I know you payed?" I let her know "well because my bank just charged me for the order," I then proceed to show her my mobile order and my bank charge where it clearly shows the charges for that McDonald's with the date and time. She then tells me she can't give me my order because she needs a number for it, my order was on the rack mind you. I ordered again through the app to show her and informed her that I was going to let my bank know of the issue so I wouldn't have to pay twice. I moved aside so I wouldn't hold up the line. Once I was done placing my order through the app, again, I showed her I placed it, I showed her I payed, and she saw the app was acting funny. I waited for my food, she handed it to me and I left. Got the Big Mac Bundle, 2 McChickens, 2 McDoubles. Sweet & Sour sauce for the 20 piece nuggets. The French Fries were golden, salty & crispy like they should be. Everything tasted like it has since I was little. The Big Mac was amazing. McChicken very good. & The McDouble was really tasty. So good everything. Courteous, knowledgeable & to the point the service was excellent. Just did the Drive-Thru, but The Restaurant appeared clean & everything looked good. First off the service was incredibly slow and didn't seem to care at all about anyone inside or in the drive thru, incredibly negligent towards the food and customers. It smelled like a hippo enclosure at the zoo inside, and was extremely dirty, whoever cleans that place needs to be fired, there was shit stains and skid marks on the toilet seats. the entire expierience was absolutely shocking, and I hope everyone working in there wakes up to themselves. Was decorated really cool with chicken balloons and a display to celebrate the chicken Big Mac release. I really appreciate the level of effort it took to decorate. It made the experience feel a lot more fun than when I normally go to McDonald's. The food was good, same as all the other McDonald's I've been too. The employees seemed to be working really hard and were possibly understaffed and struggling to keep up with demand and being able to take cash payments but that's pretty common nowadays so just go in with a little extra patience and you'll be golden. read more

This is, hands down, the most amazing McDonald's I've ever set foot in. In the hour I've been here, I've seen one fight break out in the lobby, a young child offered to jump me into a gang, and a gentleman offered to buy me a meal despite me already having one at the table. The real standout, though, is probably the men's restroom. (I cannot speak to the ladies room, so it could potentially be even more interesting.) I just spent 5 days camping in the desert so I stepped in immediately to wash my hands and face, only to quickly notice there was no soap in either the built-in dispenser or the empty soap vessel left on the surface. After washing up with just water, I dried my hands and deposited my paper towels on the sink, since this restroom completely lacks a trash can of any sort. (The large collection of them on the floor, on the sink, and in the urinal implies this is not a recent change.) Curious, I open the stall door to see if perhaps the trash can is inside, and discover a single roll of toilet paper, spattered with human(?) blood, with some equally-bloodstained wrapped discarded on the floor. Naturally, I notified the staff immediately, but given it's been half an hour since then, I'm going to assume this isn't a priority issue. Let me tell you what I appreciate most, though. You know the sign in nearly every restaurant saying something about notifying staff of any problems or supply issues? This McDonald's restroom does not have those signs, because in the California City McDonald's, so reminiscent of ancient Sparta, we scorn the weak and earn our McNuggets through harrowing trials of will and wits. 5 stars, would absolutely visit this beautiful disaster again. read more

If you go through Mojave be careful when you stop at this one of its after they've closed the dining room. Every one of the 4 sandwiches we ordered had burned buns and then my husbands sandwich instead of 2 patties of meat like we ordered and paid for there was one and a half patties. So we tend to stop here a lot because we commute quite a distance. But just be careful and double check your order before you leave the drive-thru. It's best to stick to dining in. Update: We truly have to say the inside service though is outstanding. The people are courteous and our food is fresh every time we pass through. We hate when we have to go through the drive thru.
