Super Satisfied. Ordered Lunch for 2, a Chorizo Breakfast Burrito, a Bacon Cheeseburger & Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich Combo with an Orange Crush Soda. Also as an incentive for spending over $25 dollars, Mr. Tomato gave me 2 Celsius Prickly Pear & Lime Sparkling Sodas. Breakfast Burrito was excellent. Cheeseburger was very tasty. Philly Cheesesteak was really good. French Fries were crispy & delicious. The Orange Crush Soda was refreshing. & just had a Celsius, also nice & refreshing. Service was great. I have been a customer here for a while. I have an allergy to avocado, but my co-worker did not know. I called them to ask if they would replace the sandwich. I was prepared to accept a no because it was my fault that I did not make sure to say something about my allergy to my co-worker. Passed through here and grabbed a bite to eat. California city is fairly small but this place was unique and trendy and was surprising to find a place like this out here. They serve both American and Mexican food thus combining both cultures. Which is rare to see both American burgers and tortas on a menu. If you love Breakfast then you'll be happy to know it's served from 7-11 but I asked mid afternoon for breakfast and they served it for me. And for a traditional hangover recovery meal... menudo is served on Saturday's and Sunday's. I had great customer service and honestly felt lIke being at home. Overall, multiple experiences with good food and bad service. I go here pretty often(about twice a month) and the food is above average with taste and serving size. However, EVERY SINGLE TIME THERE SERVICE IS FRUSTRATING. Here are some examples: - They gave my food to someone else who had a different name then me.(Their name sounded similar but they didnt listen Or double check) - I wanted to pay half cash and half card, and the cashier had to bring another employee over to count the money. It took seemly 10 minutes to pay. - I made a togo order over the phone and they repeated everything back to me yet they didnt make/missed some of the things I requested. - I was dining in and they asked me 4 TIMES if I was eating there. Almost every employee asked and I had already ordered for dine in..... -_- Lastly, something they do that really annoys me is that they will call you 10 minutes after your order is done to tell you it is ready. WORST RESTAURANT EVER! Me and my family went out for a nice meal. We stopped by mr tomatoes and decided to eat in. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food to come and the orders were wrong. I decided to just tell the kids take off what they don't want instead of making a fuss. I then bit into my burger and found two long hairs in my mouth. I was disgusted. I told my husband to check all the food and we found a piece of a bandaid in my husbands carne asada. I made the mistake of ordering a pastrami sandwich. The roll was hard as a rock the pastrami was burnt and hard and very salty. I tried to call the business and ask if the cook was on meth tonight. When you think of a pastrami sandwich you think of whole moist and juicy pastrami piled decent on a soft roll with mustard and pickle. I guess i should have went to primos in mojave. I'm driving through from Vegas to Sacramento and we decided to stop for some food. We were a bit skeptical because the area wasn't the most glamorous and there were no cars in the lot. It was reassuring that the health inspectors "A" rating was posted on the window. This place is SPOTLESS. They were cleaning as we walked in and I was thoroughly impressed with their cleanliness. They serve both American and Mexican food. We ordered nachos, tacos and burgers. It was all amazing. It's rare that a restaurant makes great food from two different countries. All of the food was amazing. Everybody I was with loved it. The staff is friendly, they have good pricing and excellent food. My family and I had food poisoning. First time I had a breakfast burrito and I was nauseous and throwing up but thought it could be from my headache, my daughter also had a stomach ache. I didn't connect that it was from the food. Then, the second time my husband had the Philly cheese steak and he was throwing up and running to the bathroom all day (fyi when I opened his plate up I said it had a weird smell to it but he ate it anyways and said it tasted fine). His stomach is normally hard as nails and never gets food poisoning so I wasn't 100% that it was that. Tried it again the last time and had a chicken wet burrito, I ate about 1/3 of it and my husband ate the rest, let's just say after that I won't be back. We were both sick for days. My stomach is still bubbling and my husband had a hard time recovering as well. After having this issue three times in a row, I probably won't chance it again. This is my favorite restaurant in town. My husband brings me lunch a few times a week and I always ask for Mr Tomato lol. I love the Philly cheesesteak, patty melt, zucchini, fries, and veggie burrito. Lately my favorite thing to order is something I created, it's a charbroiled chicken sandwich (no lettuce or tomato) with white cheese, mayonnaise, bacon, sautéed onions and mushrooms. Try it and thank me later. It's soooo delicious! Their food is always hot and fresh and good quality. The employees are friendly and you can tell the owners care about their customers. The food is good, the prices are horrible! I'm uploading the menu to prove it. For those of us who are actually residents of California City, we cannot afford expensive food. They price simple burgers and fries like they are steaks. I don't know who they think they are competing with here in the city. For one thing, McDonald's burgers are absolutely horrible and so there is no competition there. Jesse's and West Best serve primarily Pizza, Calzones, Sandwiches and Subs so there's no competition there and the same with Subway. The other few restaurants here aren't really Burger joints. Since almost all of Cal City is low income, Mr Tomato needs to absolutely lower their prices. read more

Went to grab dinner with my husband and granddaughters , it was 7:18. The server asked if we were taking it home, I said no we want to eat inside, so the food would be hot and would be able to get refills. I was told I would have to take it to go because they close at 8:00, said they have to put chairs on the table by 7:30. Ridiculous....They should just say they close at 7:30. Servers are rude, and food is overpriced. We drove to Rosamond and went to Toms Burger, ordered the same special for $7.50 less. It was cleaner, friendly, and open later. I asked their server what is the latest you can dine inside, she said they close at 11:00 if you get there at 10:55 you can still eat inside. That's the way to run a business. This is a hard place to review. It's a hit or miss each time we decide to go. If you live in cal city you know there's limited options on food. They need to work on there customer service skills sooo bad. We waited an hour for our food (we waited inside too) we saw the food was ready and the cashier said she was still waiting on 2 orders of fries we said okay and sat back down. 20 minutes later we are still waiting. So now my food was been sitting in a to go box for the past 20-30 min and getting soggy/cold.. NONE of the staff wears gloves or face masks.
