I would say this is one of the best micky d's around. i live close by and i take my kids there all the time to play in the play place. since they have re-done it, its very nice. it can get loud at times if there are a lot of kids there, but thats ok. The reason i didnt give it 5 stars is because there are a few employees there that are very very rude. One of them is some type of manager, a woman who has been rude to me on more then one occasion. on the other hand there are a few employees that have shown me great kindness both when i have been inside and in the drive thru. It's a shame that the few rude people there are robbing them of a full 5 start rating. maybe they will get a clue. read more

I always give a place a second chance but I won't be coming back here. We drove thru Saturday ordered 3 sandwiches and 2 hash browns. We received one hash brown and all 3 sandwiches were wrong. Drove thru again this morning ordered 2 hot cakes and 2 hash browns. No hash browns in the bag. When I ask for them the lady at the window got really rude and asked for my receipt. I've lived in Castro Valley for over twenty years. I have eaten at the McDonald's on Castro Valley Blvd off and on forlonger than that. I will never eat there again and you probably shouldn't either. I have pulled hair out of my food on numerous occasions. Shells in the eggs and sodas that are flat or diet. The employees sometimes can't read or are not twinned on how to switch out the syrup crates for the soda fountain. All of this I have endured over the years because of the feeling of supporting a local business and because these things usually get better when there is a good manager or the franchise owner steps in and makes things right again. I was really looking forward to a McDonald's breakfast this morning and was sadly robbed of what should have been a satisfying experience when biting into nearly a third of an eggshell. I actually pulled it out of the egg patty ( what didn't get in my mouth ) that's it for me. O tried ttyl eat the breakfast burrito and could barely rip through the leather tortilla. I'm not eating anymore time or money on a place that's a crap shoot every time you order. Also that stuff is just plain disgusting. No one wears gloves orhornets some of the woman don't even the there hair back. This is just to much. What else are you getting besides the stuff I mentioned? It is just not worth it. Jack makes a good breakfast and they are right down the street. Besides they make little toasters now that will make you a egg mcmufin in five minutes and they work great. Save yourself the time and headache and just make your breakfast at home. You add 20 mins to your morning routine and you can have a wonderful breakfast made with your own hands. Flies, flies, flies! It's pretty gross when you have to swat at flies continuously throughout your entire stay at this McDonald's. I've noticed the problem has become worse and worse over the last several months. Feels icky. Spoke with the manager who was aware and said they will take care of it. This its not a very good McDonalds. It has some upsides: its clean, there's a kids playhouse (not that I care), and the service at the counter is friendly. That said the food just hasn't been as good as others and at least part of that is because of some systems they use here and not at others. When we went there today I ordered a classic grilled chicken sandwich, small fries, and a mcnugget mighty kids meal. They started by putting everything but the sandwich on the tray... 6 cold minutes later they finish the sandwich and hand it to me. Of course the mcnuggets and fries are cold and gross by now.additionally they don't even serve the fries fresh to begin with. they pre doll out the fries into the small/medium/large containers and put them under a hot lamp for god knows how long. This is nothing like my local McDonalds that is quite good about serving hot fresh delicious fries at all times. Mediocre at best. I'll likely end up here again, so if they prove they can do better i'll update accordingly. Like i said, they were friendly and the place is cleaner than an average mcdonalds. one more upside is that it was VERY well air conditioned on a hot day. read more

Worst Mcdonalds in the bay area. Ok I am a uber driver and go to lots of fast food joints. This one is auppose to be open 24 hours. Wrong they open and close whenever they feel like it. Most of the employees dont know what they are doing. You ask for them to freshly bake chocolate cookies, most times they will take old ones put it in the microwave oven for like 15 seconds and claim they are freah out the oven. Had that happen at least three times. I have gone there several times when they are suppose to be open nope they closed because they didnt feel like working. Just tonight i went there thinking oh good i can get my favorite double qtr pounder with cheese. Nope they just opened which the drive thru is suppose to be open 24/7 even during the constructions even have signs drive thru open during construction. I order my order at 330am. They said sorry sir we are only doing breakfast now. I said but its 330am breakfast doesnt start until 4am. So i spoke to the manager old lady white with glasses grey hair. I asked why are you only serving breakfast. She said we just opened so we are only doing breakfast. I started to say this is nonsense i want to make a complaint. I might of been mad but i wasnt even cursing her or anything. She heard me start to complain and slammed the window shut and walked away. Now tell me isnt McDonald's policy the customer is always right. So because i am not happy with your service your answer is to slam the window in my face and walk away. This rating is more for the location and workers at the CV location since the food is pretty much like all other McDonalds. Compared to other McDonalds this is by far one of the best I've been to. When I'm craving a quick breakfast before work I love coming to the CV location because going through their drive-thru line is always a breeze. The same is true if you come during the lunch time rush...they really have their "assembly line" process down. When it comes to eating indoors, their building and restrooms are fairly new so everything looks shiny and clean still. read more

10/14/2017 I went to Mcdonald's in Castro Valley, Off of Castro Valley Blvd. I got me a large coffee. It was not that buzzy for some reason. Cashier was prompt to take my order, She was nice. A regular cup of coffee is $1.09 after tax. She does not smile or joke to much. Which is good because I do not like to stand for too long. This Mcdonald's has a clean lobby, and always has a clean restrooms. And this location has a T.V, and the T.V. was on. The coffee was good, and the temperature was good and hot. They was not much to smell. It looked they just opened. But there are no plug to plug your phone, computer, etc into. It does not matter how much you spend do not too relax they get moody. read more

It's amazing how enthusiastic they are each time they try to sell me the McCafe mocha, smoothies and apple pies as I pull up the drive-thru. While I like their coffee and filet-o-fish, their fries are not always fresh. I had soggy cold fries a few times. Yes, I frequent McD's... with my kids. Its right off 580 & is perfect for a "gotta run" meal. Literally off the freeway, next to the 76 gas station & Wendys. I like that they have 2 drive in lanes that makes you feel like your order is being taken faster than usual. Ive never had any problems at this McD's w/ food or anything else. The kids love their "chicken nugget fridays", instilled by their pop, but also a good way to limit their McD's intake. Its also the perfect place to "meet" before heading somewhere given its prime location. As long as its there, it'll be on our list of local food stops. read more

3 out of 5 times they get my order wrong. I have never once asked for a refund. Today I ordered a #9 two plain cheeseburgers. I drove all the way home sat down with my family opened them and they were wrong. So I drove all the way there and asked for them to fix it I spoke with the manager Byron and he gave me the cheeseburgers fixed. I asked for a refund which I had no receipt at the time so I went to my car and got the receipt brought it back in and he told me he would not give me a refund because he already gave me the food but previously he had offered to give me a free meal how does that make sense. I go here at least three times a week sometimes more than once in a day. Byron is rude he does not help customers and he has an attitude he almost gave me my food without an apology. I will no longer be going to this McDonald's I will be going to the Center Street one. As for the manager Byron I really think he should be held accountable for his actions. read more

I just ordered from here and was really disappointed with my order for the drive thru. I didn't get my pancakes order, they forgot to put it in the bag. My bad for not double checking, I just wanted to get home and eat. This has happened countless times. I am finding a hard time trusting the employees because my orders are always messed up! If it's one thing I hate the most. Is lazy employees. It has been a couple of times I come here at around 2-4AM and the motherf*ckers working have the audacity to tell me they're closed. Sometimes I go there after work or sometimes it's because my wife is having cravings due to her pregnancy and this is the closest location that is supposed to stay open 24/7. It's always a lady. I pull up to the drive thru and she says "we're closed" I've responded with "what do you mean? This is a 24/7 drive thru." And they say "well we're changing that" and Im like "whatever and leave" sometimes I go there for lunch and I've asked the employees working there "what time do you guys close?" And they've always given me the same answer "we never really close we're open 24/7, at least the drive thru is" and I said "oh I'm glad to hear, you guys aren't in the process of changing that" so what pisses me off is the lazy employees when I've been there around 2-4 AM. It's a McDonald's, of course, so pretty much what you'd expect regarding food and service. However, this particular McDonald's seems to attract tons of people at all hours of the day and even though it has a "super sized" parking lot, it's basically always full. We've been going there recently some mornings to grab coffee and a bite to eat and then park and use the Pokestop nearby, and the number of people I've seen here every time is astonishing. Be prepared to wait in the drive thru line to order your food for quite a while, no matter what time it is. If you're a Pokemon Go player, you can probably hit the Pokestop at least 2-3 times while you're waiting. ;) read more

I give this McDonald's zero stars! My son and I went to this McDonald's drive thru and ordered two mini meals. First of all there was an obvious problem with the order of the car in front of me. The driver gave the lady working at the window his bag twice and then handed her his receipt for them to read in order to get the order straight. It is finally my turn and my food is cold-not luke warm but cold. I then gave the bag containing my whole order to the lady at the window and asked for hot food. She looked at me like she didn't know what talking about and gave the bag to a manager (a woman). I got my bag back which had hot fries but the rest of the order was still cold. Once again I gave the food back because who wants to eat cold ass food from McDonald's. The manager asked me what did I want and I told her that I wanted hot food. She told me that I should have given her the bag with my whole food order and I would have gotten hot food. I told her that i gave her the bag with the whole order and I got back cold food. The manager turned her back on me and sighed very loudly OH MY GOD! I parked in the parking lot and went into the restaurant because my son wanted his McDonald fix and I didn't want them to do anything to the food. Nobody apologized and they even sent another manager (a man) to deal with me and my order. I told him about the lack of customer service and how rude the other manager was to me. He just said ok here is your food. I don't know this place will remain open if this is the way they treat their customers. Needless to say this McDonald's will never get my business again. read more

out of the three McDonald's in my area this is the most newly renovated one in Castro Valley on Strowbridge. It is very well staffed the prices are in line with other stores in the area and the food comes out quick and well prepared. This one in the breakfast time has a very large senior population that needs for the senior coffee which I think is a nice way of thanking our seniors. the middle-management at this particular restaurant have been there for years so the turnover is fairly low that says a lot for the owners of this franchise who I see there working as a manager himself. They missed up my order and when I went back to get what was missing the manager "Soyo or may be was Soya" little short chubby lady with Hispanic accent told me that she remembers me complaining about my order once before so she wont help me. That was rude and it was not true, I do not visit this location too much and in fact I never even seen this lady in my life, regardless it does not matter they need to make it right if the order was not right anyway, but she did not. Bad business and poor management, I can afford losing $2 box but it is the principle that makes me write this review. I do not recommend this place, and I hope her boss reads this review and write her up for miss handling the issue so this does not happen to anyone else. read more

Food quality is better than the standard of other mickey d's. The service can be slow, but their quality is service is way better than most McDonald's. I went there to pick up some fries and they gave me a free drink for no apparent reason. People giving 3 stars to This establishment are expecting some Gordon Ramsey shit. The fries weren't dusty if you know that taste, and their prices are cheaper than the one near Starbucks. One of the best McDonald's out there. read more
