Plymouth State University Commuter Food Week #1: Subway Traffic was moving pretty well westbound on Route 4, so I decided to chance crossing the lanes into Subway at the Epsom Traffic Circle. A nice guy stuck in the bumper-to bumper eastbound traffic let me cross in front of him. Thanks! This would be a dreadful place for a westbound traveler to turn into a restaurant, if not for the Epsom traffic circle. Lucky for me, I was the only customer in the restaurant. The nice sub maker assembled my sub and rang me up in less than 5 minutes. For $7, I got a huge sub, but I think I'll skip the pricey lemonade next time. It was the Fourth of July so it was pretty busy at the diner but the staff were very kind, very quick at providing drinks, and gave us time to look over the menu and place our order. This was my first time eating here so when I saw Country Fried steak on the menu I knew I needed to give it a try. The plate was practically on fire when it was served so after giving it 30 seconds I couldn't help but dig in and I absolutely loved this meal. The country fried steak tasted exactly how I thought a small town country fried steak would taste and the same goes for the toast, potatoes, and eggs I had on the side. Was it the absolute best I've ever eaten? No, but sometimes all you want is exactly what they give you and that's exactly what the case was here. On top of the food being good, this place was decorated in Northwood history while the front end sold bread and baked goods that were made locally, what else could you ask for? The outside of the building looked clean and well kept (not sure about the inside since I never went in) and there was no garbage on the ground or anything outside the building. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, this Popeye's location is definitely back on my radar. My only concern is about the employees, I truly hope that my assumption of employees working alone or almost alone is incorrect, I know how stressful work can be (especially customer service or restaurant jobs) and I hope that the person working today gets recognized for her excellent service.
