Great artisan coffee. Coffee roaster upstairs. Friendly, chill barista. Lots of seating--- spread out so not a crowded feel at all. Pastries including gluten free banana bread

Surprised how good our coffees were! Usually resort areas have subpar cafes, restaurants etc. We got a flat white and cortoda so good!

Cozy and modern vibes at this coffee shop. It's different from others because they make your order first before paying, which kind of led to a longer line. Plus only 1 person was taking orders and making the drinks. Even so, service was still pretty great as the barista was able to provide some recommendations. We tried their snickerdoodle latte, hot chocolate, and maple sea salt latte. Both lattes were subtle and light in terms of sweetness. For the price point, I wouldn't say that there's anything special that would make it worth the price per drink. Although I do appreciate that they have house-made syrups, so an extra star for that!

I haven't tried the coffee yet, but the matcha latte was fantastic. I ordered the matcha and two muffins--one chocolate and one lemon cranberry. The matcha had the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness and tasted really rich. The chocolate muffin was great, with a deep, rich chocolate flavor, and the lemon cranberry was interesting and surprisingly tasty. The service was excellent, and the place has a cozy ambiance. UPDATE: I tried the Vanilla Latte this time, and it's also super rich with the perfect amount of bitterness--the flavor of the beans really comes through. I also got a waffle, and it was excellent: warm, lightly sweet, and had a really nice crunch.

I think the interior and ambiance of this place is spectacular. Love this kind of cabin, open design. It's convenient near a fishing shop we needed some bait from. It's cool that they also serve wine. Service was really good with other people there & fine for us. They went above and beyond speaking with certain people, but didn't really talk much with my group. It wasn't super busy, but maybe the others are locals or regulars, which is fine...we left to check out the shop next door while waiting for our coffees. The coffee was pretty good. I ordered the sage brown sugar one recommended. I thought it was decent. I wouldn't mind stopping by to try out other flavors next time we go fishing.

This place is cool to hang at and the people are nice but gosh their system needs some serious tlc. The whole order then make your drinks then pay is just so inefficient and takes way too long, the line could move a lot faster with one person on reg and one making the drinks if you're only going to have 2 workers. Also $19 something for these two small lattes is pretty steep , if the milk was organic maybe but it's not & the sizes are really small. Coffee itself was pretty good. Highly recommend asking for light ice considering your drink is already small af

Whenever we find a good coffee spot on vacation we stick to it. So glad I was feeling adventurous and didn't go with my "safe" coffee order. The seasonal fig latte was amazing. Tried it on different days, iced and hot. Both so good. The horchata latte was tasty too. Ambiance was also on point if you want a place to work or hangout.

Black velvet reminds of a place where a secret society would have their monthly meet ups at. It's very dark-academia meets woodsman vibes. It has multiple levels and all levels have different types of seating. I suggest checking the place out and getting comfortable. The hot chocolate here was pretty good. I enjoyed that the barista took the time to make it "her way" because I told her I loved trying new takes on it. I think she just added some syrup, not sure but either way it was great and I appreciated the latte art she did lol.

Always an amazing place to stop at when in mammoth. Get vibes people are amazing. We had hot vanilla lattes with an added dealers choice which was a dirty earl and summer only drink toasted coconut. Highly suggest stopping by this amazing place. Oh and their merch is just as amazing had to upgrade our sweaters... lol..

Stopped by this local coffee shop! Spacious spot if wanting a chill place to study and hangout with friends/coworkers! Barista was welcoming and friendly. We came by when it was near closing so it was one only 1 barista as cashier and drinks. So yummy! I added maple syrup sea salt to my drinkie!

the music was kinda strange, only off putting thing about the cafe. like they were playing hard phonk and EDM on a snow day i would have preferred no music honestly. so kinda made it less cozy. but the decor was really nice, lots of couches & ambient lighting. the coolest part was the large table on the third floor with a view of the outdoors. so beautiful!! the drinks were solid, i got a matcha latte with sea salt. it was fine, their other coffee drinks that my friends & daughter got were good.

Came here and worked my little heart out. I had great focus and the coffee is good. I think a little pricey but pretty worth. I got the iced snickerdoodle latte and it was very well balanced not too sweet. Our coffee was ready super quick too. There is a good amount of seating about 3 floors but when I went it was packed almost all seats were taken but we got lucky and someone left. I think while working there tho it got so cold my hands started freezing off.

Shout out to the barista who was working here early morning on 11/30! She had that great "morning person" energy and was super friendly and chipper despite being the only one working in a cafe w a huge line. I loved her attention to detail- she proactively remade my drink bc the first time she made the espresso she didn't like how it came out. I appreciate the effort and my smores latte came out wonderful. My only downside is that it may have also been the most expensive cuppa I've ever had ($11.66 for a 12oz ) but from being here in mammoth for a few days it might be par for the course in terms of food pricing

My latte could have been hotter and felt like a sweet mess. Also, for the price, I could barely taste any coffee.

We visited as a family of four and made reservations ahead of time after hearing so many great things--and we felt incredibly fortunate to secure a Sunday booking, especially since they're closed Monday through Wednesday. It ended up being the perfect way to begin our time in Mammoth. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling rushed. And the food? Absolutely divine. Every dish reflected the expertise and care of a master chef with decades of experience in Norwegian cuisine. What truly elevated the evening was the personal touch--the chef graciously visited our table to greet us and ensure everything was to our liking. That kind of hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated. We ordered three appetizers, a soup, three entrées, and finished with crème brûlée for dessert--and every single item was flawless. An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Five stars--well deserved. Thank you for an unforgettable meal.

The open kitchen adds a level of sophistication and elegance that made us very excited for the meal. Our server was very friendly, personable, attentive and helpful with recommendations. Unfortunately, ambiance and service proved to be the two best attributes of this restaurant. We started the meal with the Hamachi Crudo, which was well constructed, but something was unpleasantly fishy on the plate... not sure if it was the roe, the scallops, or the fish itself. The Little Gems salad had a nice flavorful Danish blue cheese, but the lettuce looked like it was washed, cut and prepped the day before (rotten sections where it had been chopped). The beets were totally bland and unseasoned, like they were just boiled, cooled, cubed and thrown on the plate. For a fine dining restaurant, you would hope that every component on its own would be individually seasoned. The mushroom soup was very flat tasting, and the texture of the puck of mushrooms in the bottom of the bowl that had hot broth poured table side was not enjoyable to eat at all. They tasted like gross, chewy reconstituted dried mushrooms... very unpleasant. For our mains, we ordered the Scallops and the Steak. The scallops were undercooked. My wife had a hard time finishing them. We weren't concerned about health risks considering how upscale this place was, but texturally you want a seared scallop to have a nice bouncy texture when you bite into it. These were very soft. On a positive note, the sauce was flavorful though. I am assuming my steak was cooked sous vide because it was insanely soft (almost mushy) and cooled down about 2 minutes after being brought to the table. There was no texture to it at all, and it had an odd warmed over flavor, like it was maybe cooked far in advance and then seared to order. The sides of potatoes and vegetables were more delicious to be honest. Overall, while I cannot fault the setting, ambiance and service, the food fell extremely short. Especially for the $300 we spent after tip.

CHECK THEIR WEBSITE…read more - Make a reservation ahead of time - Don't bring kids The website prominently advertises that this is an ADULTS ONLY restaurant. It also indicates how to make a RESERVATION, which is highy recommended as this restaurant can get fully booked all night long. Yelp no longer has the "Takes Reservations" indicator, so you wouldn't know unless you visit their website. We unfortunately did not know either information when we decided to eat here, which ended up in a rather disappointing result when we walked in and were turned away from both getting a table the night we walked in right when the restaurant opened, and also from booking a reservation for any future night while we were there. The food looked and smelled good. Maybe we'll be back in 15+ years. NOTE: I initially gave a 3 star review as I view that as a neutral response, but I suppose that may have unfairly dragged down the rating of the restaurant given the few number of reviews on yelp. I do stand by a 4 star review, as I do think it the responsibility of the restaurant to clearly convey their prominent policies. While I do appreciate that the no child policy is prominently displayed on their website, visiting a url before walking into a building is not a common practice. If the restaurant can take the time to post social media photos of their food and logo on yelp, they can also post their prominent restaurant policies. Clear communication is important. We have been to more than a few 18+ venues where no children are allowed (restaurants, bars, rated R movies, speakeasies, comedy clubs), and this policy was clearly communicated at those other venues (e.g., via advertising, via a sign at the front of the venue, via their business card). But, at Ursa, this policy was not made clear to us until after we spoke to the host for a good 10 minutes after entering the restaurant. In her defense, she was apologetically trying to make our night better by suggesting many other alternative restaurants where we could go. But we were not looking for alternative restaurants which were, in our opinion, starkly different restaurants which were not comparable to Ursa. Ursa is unique to the region. We just wanted to know how best to eat at Ursa. Which was--make a reservation ahead of time, don't bring kids.

I highly recommend waiting in their waiting area or downstairs for your table as they will come to find to if something opens up quicker. Everything we ordered was tasty. We were very hesitant to try the Asian sticky ribs but it actually ended up being really good. I can't remember what the vegetable dish (4th pic) was called but it was also very good if you got a bite with everything in it. It had sweet potato, beet, candied walnuts and pomegranate seeds! We also ordered some drinks. The curry drink (forgot the name) was surprisingly good despite the odd list of ingredients that went in. Their local black cherry soda was also very nice. Service is great and very helpful when it came to recommendations. The space is small and doesn't allow dogs which was a bummer but still a spot I would come back to try more of their seasonal items!

Tucked into the Village right next to Gomez's Mexican Restaurant (which is no slouch itself), this place pulls off that rare trick: it actually feels like a legit Italian escape...just with better snow outside. Let's start where all good decisions begin: pizza as an appetizer. Yes, you heard that right. Their authentic pizza oven isn't just for show--it's the real deal. Thin crust, blistered just enough, and gone in about 90 seconds at our table. No regrets. The tricolore salad is a solid opener--fresh, simple, and a nice way to pretend you're pacing yourself. You're not. Because then comes the main event: Voltaggi-O's. Imagine your childhood love affair with Chef Boyardee's Spaghetti-O's...then imagine it went to culinary school, studied abroad in Naples, and came back with confidence, depth, and a killer wine list. That's this dish. It's nostalgic, elevated, and borderline dangerous in how easy it is to keep eating. And honestly? The staff might be the real MVPs. Servers and bartenders here are five-star across the board--attentive without hovering, smiling like they actually enjoy being there, and full of spot-on recommendations (which, let's be honest, we happily followed). Bottom line: If you're in Mammoth and craving Italian that goes beyond the usual ski-town fare, Vulcania is the move. Come hungry, order the pizza "appetizer" (don't overthink it), and don't you dare skip the Voltaggi-O's. You'll leave full, happy... and already planning your next visit.
