This is my favorite McDonalds across 50 states visited, canada, 4 European nations. It is also my favorite restaurant, by far, in Alaska. 1. The food has always been good. 2. Coffee is always good every single time. 3. Affordable, Free refills, many great App deals. 4. Full of nice people who act like you are welcome and appreciated more or less always. 5. Clean, professional, but friendly community feeling. Those are all a big deal and no one else does al that and not many succeed in any of that list. As McDonalds go this location is actually really nice! The staff are all really friendly and work really hard to make sure your order is correct and the customer is happy. You won't spot this location by the signature Golden Arches as they are preserving the natural view. Inside they have screen games for the kiddos and they actually have table service so you order and they bring your food to you. *Pro Tip-This Location is the cheapest place to buy a bag of ice in Homer! read more

after spending a considerable amount of time here while waiting for a ferry, I understand the 1 star rating. It is not rated 1 star because it is a McDonalds but rather it is a 1 star McDonalds, when others may be a 5 on the scale. This place is run by irresponsible, unworthy managers and immature, teen employees that cause chaos, uncleanliness and bad service. As we sat there, we listened to the girls behind the counter gossip and swear loudly to one another. We watched many of the male employees, along with the male manager walk around the corner of the building in groups. I watched multiple employees in full uniform, hop into cars parked in the parking lot and return back to work 10 minutes later. I watched employees sit with their boyfriend at tables across from me and converse until the manager came to find them and scold them for sitting with customers while working. I even watched the employees play with a puppy IN THE KITCHEN while serving customers food and then return to their jobs without washing their hands. THERE WAS A PUPPY IN THE KITCHEN! I don't even need to go over the food, because it's McDonald's. My chicken nuggets probably sat there for an hour before being served to me, and they gave me honey mustard instead of ranch. I don't care about those details, but am appalled by the complete absence of management. I was waiting for Jon Taffer to come around the corner with a camera crew. read more

Wow. We simply wanted to feed our family of 6 after a long day of kayaking and hiking. We waited at the speaker after ordering on the mobile app. Someone finally came on the speaker and said something we didn't understand. After waiting again for another minute, we asked to see if someone was available to help. The lady said, "Sir, I am going to deny you service". We asked why and she said we had been pestering her. We were floored! How rude! When she finally decided to help us, we got our food without a word from her. No smile, no thank you. Unfortunately, this is the only fast food restaurant in the area. They got my order wrong. I ordered the Sausage, egg, cheese McMuffin meal and when I got to window to pay, the cashier/order taker gave me just a bag. I asked about the drink and she said I didn't order one. I then proceeded to tell her that I had ordered the meal. The teen girl then said, "Oh, I didn't ring you up for that. Sorry." She didn't offer to correct her mistake and the apology wasn't sincere. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day but her customer service could use A LOT of work. read more

My daughter works at this McDonald's and we have her an N95 mask to wear there. At first they would not let her wear a mask or gloves at all now they will but told her she could not wear her N95 mask because "it looked like she was keeping them from health care workers and first responders" and that she needed to wear a cloth mask. Her father my husband is a police officer which is absolutely a first responder. She should have a right to wear whatever mask protects everyone else especially our first responders. I am completely blown away by these rules. I work in a restaurant/bar usually and right now work at Safeway and if they told me I could not wear my N95 I would quit. It is ridiculous. read more

Frencr fries were as greasy and soggy as the servers hair. The burger was drier than the Sahara. The sprite tasted like if drywall and saltwater had a hate child. The bathroom looked like if you let Curious George loose after feeding him a box of laxatives. This is probably more for their corporate office, but I'm not sure. Just had the crispy chicken sandwich, and it was APALLING. Really. How can you screw chicken up that bad. It wasn't the taste, it was the texture. The meat was actually crunchy and made audibly crunch sounds while you chewed it. It was like eating chicken flavored sinew. I got so weirded out by this chicken like substance that I spit out what was in my mouth and pitched it and the diet coke into the nearest trash can and vowed never to be tempted by these corporate board-room run "chefs" ever again. I know right, why would anyone bother to review a McDonald's? Isn't it just like every other McDonald's? Yes it is. The problem, though is that this McDonald's doesn't seem to understand what the "fast" in fast food indicates. It;s bad enough in the drive-thru, but you will see 15 customers come and go through the drive-thru while you are still waiting to order at the counter, so don't even think about doing that if you need to be anywhere soon. They also will make drive-thru customers go wait out front for their food, sometimes for ten minutes. I have seen them do this even when there are no other cars in line. Why you ask? Because there is a timer that tells the owners how long each car sat at the window, and they are trying to make their numbers look good while not actually providing the speedy service which is the only reason adults go to McDonald's to begin with. read more

I went to this McDonalds location with my daughter (who is a McDonalds Manager back home). She was mad when she walked in and saw how messy the place was, got even madder while we waited in line for over 15 minutes (there was only 1 customer in front of us).
