For the past month I've spent $20-25 a day here, mostly on coffee drinks but also food. Why? Because the staff never bothered me and the WiFi was blazing fast. I sat in my van/mobile office, stayed caffeinated, and got a lot of work done. I'd come 3 or 4 times a day, sit in my van in the mostly empty parking lot, and drink my sugar free vanilla lattes. The service here is horrible, the bathrooms are always filthy, remarkably they screwed up my order about a third of the time, and on more than on occasion I ended up either 1) translating for the staff, 2) getting napkins or other items for other customers, 3) taking peoples food out to their cars or tables for them because they were short staffed and the customers were waiting for more than 15 minutes but the employees didn't have enough people to physically walk the food out. Three times I've waited 25 minutes or more for my mobile pick up order, after I've gone in to get it - keep in mind that my pick up order is usually just a single item that does not need to be cooked. But I've only complained once, when I found egg shell in my sandwich. The thing about this location is that most of the employees are really nice and are trying really hard, but they are always short staffed. And then customers are mad, but it's not really the staff's fault. If the owner wants to cut costs by always having the bare minimum number of staff, you're going to have filthy bathrooms and slow service because if one person is late or home sick, everything is thrown off. So today I dropped about $20 during breakfast and lunch, over about a three hour period, left, came back around dinner time. I'm a professor and It's been hard with covid, because I like to work around other people and not be isolated at home. But there aren't a ton of options with most places closed. I bought a coffee and a snack, ate in my van while working. The manager saw me inside and never said anything to me. 45 minutes later I'm sitting in my van at my desk, messaging with my friend about what he wants me to pick up. As usual, the McDonalds app was super glitchy. It kept saying my menu items weren't available at this time of the day. After 5 minutes of shutting the app down and restarting it, I went to the back to adjust my WiFi boost and someone knocks on my van door. It's the swing manager (African American man, but not the African American guy who works in the am that is really on top of things), he was the same one who literally handed me my order 45 minutes ago. He was with Mathew, a very hostile man who identifies himself as the owner. Both were unmasked. Matthew wanted to know what I was doing. I was so flabbergasted by his hostility that I didn't know what to say, so I said, "using the internet" since at that moment all I wanted to do was get the McDonald's app to work so I could get my food. And I really had no idea how to respond because Matthew was just so.... pissy. Matthew very angrily told me to leave and that I could only stay parked for 30 minutes after ordering. I guess the clock starts when you get your food? Since it's often a bit of a wait?! Maybe he starts the clock when you order and there had been a 15 minute delay while the employees made fries, so maybe my clock started 60 minutes prior not 45 minutes. In any event, it had been more than 30 minutes since I'd ordered. I explained that I spend a lot of money here, eating 3-4 times a day and buying a lot of stuff, and that I prefer to eat in my car because the restaurant is really cold. The manager stood there like he has never seen me before. Never mentioned that he had neglected to tell me about this mysterious policy of scarfing your food and leaving the parking lot within 30 minutes. Matthew responded that I was there the other day for a few hours, which was very true. I'd spent probably $15 the night before and had placed several orders over a three hour period. I was very calm and polite. I explained no one had said anything to me about this 30 minute limit or asked me to leave before and if he wanted me to leave, I would leave (because there was no way in hell I was spending any money there if Mathew-the-hostile-one is the owner). Matthew then threatened me with the police and when I said he didn't have to be hostile about it, he said he could have any reaction he wanted. Which is true. We all have the right to feel our feelings. Most of us try to contain them a bit and not react so extremely to something very minor (like a customer who frequents your restaurant too often and usually stays about and hour or a bit more per a order while you prefer that people leave after 30 minutes). read more

When you visit McDonald's there is a certain expectation. Food won't be that healthy but it will be quick and your order should be right. Do not expect that at this location. Conveniently located as your enter/leave key west island one would think this might be a good spot to hit up fast food on the way out...boy would you be wrong. We went they the drive thru and then sat for 15 minutes in the parking lot waiting on "fries to be made" however 10 cars (since I started counting) were all leaving the drive thru with food (guess people don't want fries anymore?!?!) then when the girl brought it out she forgot our happy meal and we had to go back in and get it cause you know it's too hot for her walk back to our car again..... Tired, but in need, I sat through the line of regret. I placed my order and waited. And waited. And "it's-two-A.M.-and-I-should-be-in-bed" waited. And finally, a smiling cashier handed me my coffee and I sipped. Not bad. Not bad at all. In fact, it was really quite good and did the job. My drive back home was a breeze. The woman with blonde hair, pink glasses, and looks to be maybe 50 treated me horribly in the drive thru. She always has an attitude but today was the worst. I paid with my card like I always do and she prompted me to go to the second window. Apparently my card didn't go through but I didn't know until the kind man working the second window told me. So after I back up to the first window to pay, she told me: "you were ignoring me." When I told her I had no idea, she scoffed and treated me like I was some thief. I would give it zero stars if I could. I pulled up to the speaker in the drive thru and I let the lady on the speaker know that I wanted to use my app code to pay and get my free item. She tells me that she'll need to get that info from me when I pull up to the window to pay (every other McDonald's and on the instructions on the speaker, request that you provide them with the code BEFORE you place your order). I explained to the employee that I normally give the code at the speaker though like the instructions say to do and she comes back on the speaker and says "Look Lady, you need to come to the window, I can't do it from the speaker, ughhhh" I was so flabbergasted, I said "excuse me?!?!" Honestly, I couldn't believe she had the nerve! Then I ordered a plain double cheeseburger with extra cheese (which I order at McD's all the time) and she tells me that I can't order it that way (with the extra cheese) because she can't ring it through the way I want it. What?! Once I got to the window the employee said nothing to me and took my app code and gave me my receipt. I then let the manager know what she had said to me and that they have the RUDEST drive thru employee that I've ever encountered and he said he'd have a talk with her.... To add, we went to this McDonalds the night before and the same employee was working the drive thru....after every item I'd order, she'd just say "what else?" "Ok, what else?" I drive back to the drive-thru to claim the cheeseburger I was missing, when I told them about the missing burger the guy says "Ha! That's funny as hell! Pull up to the window." We made the mistake of dining in for breakfast at this location this morning (Aug 4, 2023). There was no one at the counter to take our order, so we were left with using the electronic kiosk. There was no paper in the machine to print out the receipt ( I am guessing this was on purpose so no one had the guest survey information). We ordered 2 big breakfasts (eggs, biscuit, sausage and hotcakes) and 3 orange juices. Nothing customized or unusual. We waited 20 minutes (I am NOT exaggerating on the time) before my husband went to the counter to inquire on our order. Again, there was no one at the counter so he had to practically yell to the employees congregating in the back to get assistance. A male employee came up and began arguing with my husband, even trying to say we only ordered 2 orange juices, when their receipt on the tray clearly said 3. My husband finally got our order, when he found there were no napkins on the tray or anywhere accessible in the dining area. He again had to go to the unmanned counter and yell to the back to get assistance. This time the male employee came up and was cursing at my husband in Spanish (my husband can understand Spanish). My husband called the employee out for cursing at him. Finally the shift manager came in from smoking and threatened to call the police on my husband. Another customer who also waited a ridiculously long time came up to us and said "this store is awful" and that my husband was in the right. After that another employee who was delivering orders to another table came by and said the shift manger and the employee my husband dealt with were worthless and that this is the worst store he has ever seen. We placed an order through Uber Eats. The driver abandoned the order, either for his/her own reason(s) or b/c the location decide to close early. The store didn't answer our calls across 6-7 attempts. We canceled the order due to lack of delivery and communication and we were charged anyway, leading to a dispute through the credit card company and with Uber Eats. And I'm sure they see US as the problem. If you're going to close early, in a posted 24-hour period, no less...find some way to let Uber, DoorDash, all those fucks, know!! They DO NOT recognize national price deals on menu items so be prepared to PAY MORE HERE than any other McDonalds. Long lines and slow set- expected delays are one hour even when not busy.
