Service was quick, and I ordered the house Bloody Mary. It was flavorful without being overly spicy, the ghost of Hemingway agreed. We also shared the veggie board, which was delicious and perfect for a light meal. The desserts looked absolutely amazing, but Hemingway's ghost and I decided to save room for some stronger spirits instead. Worth every minute of the wait. Moondog is situated nearby Hemingway house and a perfect stop before or after your tour. There js indoor and outdoor seating available, outdoor seating is shaded and surrounded by greenery. The food is amazing!!! Our only regret is not being able to try more dishes. We came here on vacation and were told this restaurant was a must try! Even though it's not pictured, we had the mahi tacos, shrimp tacos and chicken potstickers. They all were pretty good but nothing stood out. The star of the show that is pictured is their infamous Key Lime Pie. This pie was a hefty slice ($13) and more than enough to share. The meringue was toasted perfectly, the filling had a delicious tartness to it but the crust was so hard! We could barely cut the bottom of the pie because this crust was so hard. Eventually, we just ate the filling and meringue without the crust due to the hassle. I wasn't as amazed as I expected to be from the praises this restaurant gets but I would be willing to try again. The Key lime pie wasn't my favorite was a bit too rich for me, the crust was overbaked, and it wasn't something you could easily enjoy while walking around in the Key West heat. The burgers were also disappointing, as they lacked seasoning, and even my friends weren't impressed with the veggie burger. Moondog has some truly unique flavors and we enjoyed our dinner visit! We got the Mac N cheese, steak tacos, and Key Lime Pie. I honestly think this key lime pie was the best one we tried on the island. Although, Publix is still my favorite. The Mac N Cheese was delicious it is very non traditional so be prepared for some sharper flavors. The weight is long. They don't take reservations and parking is tough outside if you have a car. It's best to walk here as it's an a lively place right across from the Hemingway House. I had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. My waiter, Tanyo, was impatient, dismissive, and showed very little sensitivity toward my celiac disease. When I asked for gluten-free recommendations, he abruptly walked away and told me to review the menu, saying he would return. I waited approximately 45 minutes before he came back. After placing my order, I answered a phone call while waiting. During that time, I heard him aggressively speaking to another person, saying things like "Grab this! Can't you grab this?" He then handed my drink to the person behind me instead of simply placing it on my table or politely excusing himself. I then realized he was yelling and angrily speaking to me and impatiently found a different way to have my drink delivered in the most disrespectful de-humanizing manner possible. When my food arrived, the order was incorrect. It came with regular bread instead of gluten-free bread and was a completely different dish than what I ordered. The burger that was prepared with gluten-free bread was soggy, and the patty was cooked medium-rare instead of medium. The taste and texture were honestly one of the most unpleasant bites I have ever experienced. I brought these concerns to the manager, Janice, but instead of apologizing or addressing the issues, she became defensive and focused on defending the waiter. To make matters worse, I was overcharged on my bill. When I questioned the charge for changing the cheese from cheddar to Swiss, I was told, "This is how we do it here." At no point was I informed there would be an additional charge. A restaurant that receives Michelin recognition should meet a much higher standard--not only in food quality but also in hospitality, professionalism, and respect for guests with medical dietary needs. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below those expectations. I would not return, and I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Tanyo and Janice both need to improve how they communicate with and treat customers. What was supposed to be an enjoyable quick brunch experience turned out to be a dreadful disappointment time consuming situation. As it took over 3 hours of my vacation day. read more

I really liked the pastry they used, and the filling was delicious. The next day was our last day in the Keys, and it would not be complete without a key lime pie, so we stopped by in the afternoon for a few slices to share along with some cups of tea. If you're a meringue fan, then this is the pie for you, it's got quite the height but is super light and fluffy and complements the tartness of the key lime really well. A great way to say farewell to Key West. As we visited this spot two times on our visit, we also got to experience sitting both indoors and outdoors. Their outdoor seating is super cozy, and it feels like we were on someone's wraparound porch, which is super fitting since this restaurant is tucked in between homes! The indoor has some charming decor. I really liked their lantern-like lighting choices, the colorful murals on the wall, and the mounted moon bicycle. It made the visit super memorable. We were accommodated very easily as a party of 6 both times (albeit we ate around 9 pm the first day and 3 pm the next day). The staff were very friendly and easy-going with us. The seafood omelette was very fresh, and the seafood broth gave it great flavor, but the Smoked Trout Bagel was my highlight. I haven't had Smoked Trout until now, and it was phenomenal.
