I like eating local, and I love when a good idea + hard work catches on and finds a bigger audience. If you agree, you may like the MacDonalds Restaurant of Lake Bluff, Illinois. Located just 25 minutes from the original location in Mundeline (see my well-received review), this restaurant's menu feels more continental with the inclusion of muffins and biscuits. I did notice some familiar items. In fact, I ordered the McBurrito (yes, once you know your way around here you'll notice they like to put "Mc" in front of words. It's a cute touch. I like that. ) Though many of the workers are young, the place has a simple vibe that appeals to older diners and, on the day I visited, to many people in the trades. That said, those in the know bus their own tables which adds to that shabby chic feel. The addition of outdoor dining tables and conveniently-placed refuse receptacles makes this diner a welcomed addition this neighborhood located along a well-traveled state highway. This is the second restaurant of theirs I've reviewed. They have managed to keep what was good, build on it and avoid that cookie-cutter feel of so many places that grow too big, too fast. I wrote a true but not so favorable review some years back. Last week, I went through and got a McDouble, Fries and Diet. Lo and behold, the gentleman on the speaker understood me just fine. And wait! The food was up in seconds after I got to the second window. The burger was hot, seasoned and had melted cheese! I almost cried with happiness. Today I went through again and ordered a fish. Again--- ready in just a minute and delicious. There's new management inside and boy, can I tell the difference. AVOID At all cost. These idiots always fuck up orders. Whether they forget my hashbrowns and STILL charge me for it or forget a sandwich. AVOID. Not worth the headache. Bathrooms closed because no one wants to clean them, employee sleeping on table in back of restaurant. All tables dirty, floor dirty. NEVER EVER GO TO THIS MCDONALDS. I REPEAT! NEVER GO TO THIS MCDONALDS. We never do mcdonalds but decided to get two Carmel frappes and two apple pies . Little did we know what we were in for. I take a sip mine and right away feel plastic in my mouth. I brushed it off and then the second sip another piece of plastic . My wife has me try hers and the same thing ! PLASTIC!!!! Also this establishment is not following CDC guidelines and Governor Pritzker. Their masks were below there nose and NO GLOVES. Something as simple as a vanilla shake should not turn into a customer having to call corporate. Went through the drive thru and ordered a vanilla shake witch was not for me. When it was given to me I saw red in it and told the manager on duty that the person has food allergies could I please get a new one. He stated that it was vanilla and nothing was wrong with it. So I had no choice but to get out and go inside. After showing him and explaining how rude he was he replaced it. He didn't want to give me a receipt or corporates number. After filing a complaint I received a phone call from another manager and she apologized but truth be told I am not sure I want to come back. read more

One of the nicest McDonald's I've been to. Recently remodeled the inside and out which is very nice. Service was very fast and friendly.

I went through the drive up window and placed my order for 2 bacon double cheeseburgers and 8 sausage, egg burritos. I paid for my order and after receiving it, I found that I was missing a bacon double cheeseburger. I called the McDonald's where I made my purchase and was hung up on. When I tried to call again, I was unable to get through. I have not been compensated for my loss. read more

Unfortunately the one in Lake Forest is closed so the choice is Lake Bluff or Bannockburn. I had two bad experiences with coffee at this location (which I noted below). However, Jackie R. (the manager) made it right today. So if Jackie is there then order. Experience #1. The employees are rude. I ordered a macchiato without ice. I never order ice you don't know what is in it (check out Starbuck's problem with ice), anyway they filled the large container only 65-70% filled. I said to them you didn't fill this all the way. The person doing the drink said that is what they do when someone doesn't want ice. I waited for the assistant, she was rude and told me she would have to charge me more. Really! I said this is absurd and she reluctantly filled it up. This is no way to treat customers. Experience #2. Guy didn't know how to make a macchiato or iced coffee. Again, go there if Jackie is there. read more

If you can avoid this McDonald's, do it. This location is super unpredictable in both the items available on their menu and quality of food. Some days they stop serving the full breakfast menu at 10:30 as normal but you can't get a hashbrown with your all day breakfast order, and other days they don't allow you to order off the normal menu until after 11. Fries are way too salty one day and have zero salt another day. The ice cream machine is also never on at night for whatever reason...super unpredictable location. read more

I was in there Sunday 08/26/2018 with a friend. We sat down and the house flies were everywhere. As soon you took the wrapper off your sandwich there were all over it. Finally after about 10 minutes of constant swatting, one of the employees came by and I told her the problem. I got a look like "what do you want me to do about it?" Manager, Juan Alverz, is rude a hot head. We waited a long time in the drive thru and when we got up to the pick, we were told our food wasn't ready and to move up. When I asked how long it going to be, Mr. Alverez comes tot eh window and tells me to move up and call me "a sh...t" in front of my 12 year old son. when I tell him that I want to know how long the wait is.
