Wow! When the majority of the reviews are this bad, I'm glad I wasn't the only one unimpressed with this Potbelly location. Seeking low-cost lunch options during my work break, I decided to try Potbelly since they have this $7.99 deal with a skinny turkey sandwich, chips, and a drink. The drive thru service is very slow and you have to wake up the employee to take your order (they don't acknowledge you quickly when you pull up to the menu board). I had to ask what came on the sandwich and was told "whatever you want" and then asked what my options were and got a "look at the menu". What snotty service from an employee who either hates working at Potbelly or just has a bad attitude. When I got my sandwich, I noticed the wrapping was warm. I would've liked to know that my sandwich was toasted and warm, as I don't like hot lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The Zapp's chips were pretty good. Soda was standard Diet Coke. Overall, I would go back to Potbelly. Just not this location...food is good, but the service and attitude of employees needs a lot of work. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I'd be happy to ! Went through the drive-thru to order. Went to eat my sandwich and I noticed in my sandwich that there was a huge chunk of something black . I opened it up and literally saw massive chunks of DIRT!!!! I called to speak to the manager and he thought it was funny and also seemed not phased by how uncleanly and disgusting that is ! I asked him they clean their vegetables and he said NO! It's not apart of POTBELLYS POLICY! Then I called the Vernon hills location and they said the same thing ! Had another pleasant experience here. My bf and I went through the drive thru bc ya girl was hungry. I ordered a big tuna, some chips and a large drink. Everything was going good until we received the drink, they mistakenly gave us a small size instead of a large. In the blink of an eye, the kind guy at the drive thru realized the error and gave us a large drink and told us to keep the small. He even gave us a cookie and apologized profusely at the error. Normally, people don't even put a thought to kind, small things like this but I do. As I've stated before, the excellent customer service keeps us coming back so with that being said, thank you potbellys! Additionally, the food (my tuna sandwich) is always bomb! Perfect amount of tuna and all the fixings plus the crispy wheat bread. Love it! Plus! The tuna is not drenched in mayo which I appreciate. Used to be our favorite but has consistently gone down hill. Drive through rep working tonight at 4:45 has zero customer service skills. Essentially said "what would you like" when we pulled up. Then told us "your powerhouse salad is out of the dressing, what one do you want?" Then basically threw the order out to the window, no thank you, no nothing. Felt like we were bothering him. On top of all that, salad didn't have hummus, wife's salad made wrong, just the same thing each time. We are new in town but will now be traveling further out because there are so many good restaurants to eat at with better service. read more

They then reached out to uber eats to tell them to give me a refund. I called back today because I didn't get a refund and she completely shut me down and was not helpful at all. I went in around 7 on a weekday, no other customers in there, and no one can say hello. Whatever doesn't matter. Order a sandwich, get all of the wrong toppings even though I repeated it twice. The food was the food. Consistent with nearby Potbellys I've had. The guy who worked Sunday night was friendly. The girl who worked with him (nose ring and dagger nails) was a disappointment. She pulled her plastic glove off with her teeth so she could text, or tweet, or whatever... BEHIND THE COUNTER! HUGE pet peeve of mine. I wanted to ask her for something, but I stood there like a moron while she got her social media on. There was another girl who was emptying garbage cans, etc. But here's my BIGGEST problem. Yes, bigger than the phone. I got there at almost 730pm to eat. The bathrooms hadn't been cleaned since early afternoon! And it looked like it! There were two people sitting together in the restaurant besides us. Really? SEVEN hours to check a bathroom? Garbage overflowing. Stuff on the toilet seat. Junk in the floor. Hair and dirt in the sink. I felt like I needed a hazmat cleaning when I left. My little needed to go potty but I wouldn't let her use it! See the picture I posted. I have to ask.... Another potbellys has popped up, this time in Lake Bluff! This is a super convenient location right near a plaza with plenty of other options. Chipotle and Meatheads will both soon be opening next door as well. I'm pleased that this location is closer than the previous potbellys I was going to in Waukegan...though of course it opens as I spend my last few days up north! Quick service, my usual sandwich "A Wreck" was on point. Visiting home for the holidays and we wanted salads. I said I would pick up food at this new(ish) Potbellies location for us. The food was good and it seems a good place for someone to get lunch. But that is where things fell apart. I arrived with my wife, our four year old and a text message from my mom listing the three items everyone else wanted. My wife ordered her lunch first, and then for our son, before stepping aside so my son would stop ringing this bell they have where one orders. I ordered for myself and took out my phone to read the text with the other three orders. I went and stood by the register to pay. Sadly, the efficiency experts at this chain missed the mark. Apparently when you order the first time, you're not done. The woman putting the food together asked me what we ordered... Again. I had my wife and son come back over, I took out my phone to go through the text message again. Okay, done. Time to pay... The woman at the register asked me what i ordered and I pointed to the pile of food on their counter and politely said "that's me." She had no idea and, again, I called my wife back over and took out my phone to read through the text of the other three orders. This is the worst system I've ever heard of in a restaurant. It was not particular busy. The first person people encounter should record the order the first time... Life would be so much better. Finally paid and after trying trying to sign the tab twice with a broken pen, I was given one that worked. Just funny at that point. As I was leaving my wife asked about the milkshake since I didn't have one in my hand. I saw a milk shake by the register and asked "is that mine?" The cashier said "I had no idea. Just take it." I took out my wallet and said I wanted to pay, though I was about to erupt and apparently the other woman could tell. She also said "it's fine, take it." I walked out and left. I'm not surprised this location has horrible reviews. First off. WORST customer service in the drive thru. Waited for 5 minutes because they were busy...understandable. But when I get my sandwich and leave he doesn't even acknowledge me at all, no have a good day, no eye contact. Nothing. But I asked for provolone instead of Swiss and they just decided to not give me cheese at all. Didn't even get asked if I wanted condiments on it all, which is partly my fault because I should've asked but good customer service would've been something along the lines of "any mustard Mayo? No? On several occasions this location has been closed during normal operating hours, like at lunch time, when it says it's open on the website. However there is nothing indicating it's closed so the drive thru backs up and people wait in line forever thinking it's just slow service. I love Potbelly Sandwiches but this location is terrible. On two separate occasions I experienced awful service. Most recently, I visited the shop on Wednesday at around 3:30pm. When I entered the shop there was one customer at the counter patiently waiting and no one behind the counter. Eventually, she put her drink back in the fridge and chips back on the shelf and left. As she was walking out, she said been waiting 5 minutes and seen no one. After she left, I started asking into the back if anyone was there. I eventually could see through the window that several employees were just hanging out in the back talking. As I was about to walk out, one of them came strolling out of the back. He asked what I wanted and made no comment about the fact that I'd been waiting. I told him he'd lost at least two customers and walked next door to Chipotle where the other customer from Potbelly was walking out with their very own burrito. This shop is super close to my clinic. Working in fast food for most of my life I know how stressful it can be, but i have been here at least 5 times where each time she has been so so disrespectful for no reason. I love the Flats. The drive thru line can get very long and doesn't move very quickly. They need to look at their training of the staff. I'll say "I'd like the smoked ham flat" before I can even tell them my toppings, I tend to hear from the order taker a short, curt "what toppings?" I guess I need to spew it all out quickly in one long sentence. Last Wednesday, I was at the window following a long hiatus due to the prior service. I ordered a Diet Dr Pepper along with my sandwich. I could clearly see that the syrup had runout and I got an almost clear beverage. I parked and went inside. Honestly I love their food but won't go to this particular location again. I've gone about 4-5 times since quarantine in March and they have had just god awful customer service. Just today I went and the lady on the speaker started by saying "What do you want?" Then preceded to get my order wrong. I parked my car, walked inside the shop and talked politely to the woman about messing my order up and she threw the sandwich away and yelled at another worker to remake it. She handed them the order and they proceeded to get it wrong again because the woman didn't tell the people making it what went wrong the first time. Should've listened to the reviews. Have always liked potbelly's but this location just can't get it right. Moved to lake bluff recently and have been to this location 4 times. 3 of the 4 visits my order was either wrong or missing paid add ons or just downright not good quality wise. Twice they've forgotten the bacon I paid for, today's visit being one of those instances. Had a wreck with double meat and add bacon. Ordered for pickup thru the app, when I arrived 12 minutes later they hadn't even seen my order yet. So they scrambled to make the sandwich which is I'm guessing what caused them to leave off the bacon I paid for. On top of that the sandwich just tasted off. $13 for a sandwich, you expect something good. The one good sandwich I had here was a pizza sub. Not sure I'll be back, I can get a more consistent and cheaper sandwich elsewhere. read more

Awful service!! I literally just walked out and went elsewhere. I ordered a bowl of soup to go, really easy. The lady took my order and asked why I didn't want a sandwich? Not owning her an explanation i just smiled and said, "just the soup for me today please". The worker completely turned her back to me and went to work on something else and just ignored me. I ended up walking out. The front door is broken and only opens half way. Worst possible experience. This was my first time going to a potbellys in years. I came at the lunch rush and the staff was very friendly and efficient. I got the TKY slim and chicken enchilada soup combo. Very filling and delicious. I love the concept of the slim sandwich, although there was less bread (and less carbs) it was still very satisfying. I also got the hot peppers on the side which were a great addition to the sandwich. The soup was ok, definitely want to try some other flavors.
