This McDonald's location is the best one is all of Humboldt county. After living here for 4 years, this McDonalds is faster, and more reliable than any of the other ones. I always picked this one over the Arcata one even though I live in Arcata. It was always worth the extra 2 miles. read more

Unfortunately, compared to most McDonald's restaurants, this location provides a poor quality of food. They should lose their franchise for having such low food continuity and poor service. It's a blight on the very things McDonald's promises: consistent quality and fast, friendly service. This restaurant frequently leaves standard elements off the menu items for example, leaving the cheese off of your cheeseburger. Is it a cheeseburger without cheese? Didn't I just pay for a piece of cheese? Today I got a Sausage McMuffin with no sausage. When I called the heavy accented person answering the phone said he was the manager but refused to give his name. Then he hung up on me. If you go in to speak to the manager they will tell you that you can't prove they left the cheese or the cheese off even if you show it to them. Whatever is wrong, it's your fault, not theirs, and it's definitely your problem and not theirs. Forget any special orders. They can't even make their own sandwiches right, much less remove or add anything . Total incompetence here and as if that weren't enough, they're rude and smug knowing they answer to no one. Apparently Mr. Jesse Klair is a hands off owner, and like so many here in Humboldt, CA, lets his managers run his restaurant into the ground. read more

I ordered 3 items and went through the drive through, paid, and when I went to pick up my items I remembered I had a free fry in my app (not one of the items I bought and paid for). I asked if I could redeem that. The guy there said it has to be with an order. I explained I had just ordered, paid, and hadn't even received my items yet. The guy didn't know what to do. I explained it seemed like a simple adjustment to my order, if they needed to refund me and rerun the order to add the fries no big deal. At that point a manager was grabbed, who seemed lost. I explained the proposed plan, which he said he could do, but only if I came inside. It was cold out and dark (7:44pm), there were no other cars behind me in line. I asked why they couldn't complete the adjustment in the line. He said I need you to come inside, I asked again, to which he told me that there was a clock timing the transaction so he wouldn't do it because it would add more time to my "drive through" transaction. This man wanted to inconvenience me by making the drive thru pointless and have me come inside so he could pretend that they had a good service time and fake his data. I'm like I've been here like 3 minutes, no one else is here. What in the world. So yah. Their customer service data is clearly a lie! Hope that gets back to management. And no I did not go inside and appease his ridiculousness. I have not been back since, nor had fries. read more

Order 3 meals and get 3 drinks-simple, right? Apparently not. We were asked to pull up and our order would be brought out to us (one drink was an ice coffee so that took time to make). So, employee comes out gives us the bag and 2 drinks. I ask about the Diet Coke. He asks to see my receipt and I told him I used Apple Pay and didn't get a receipt. I said we got 3 meals so there should be 3 drinks. He stated that if it wasn't on my receipt he couldn't just give it to me because those drinks cost money. To which my patience was gone and I replied no sh*# they cost money and we got 3 meals and a drink with each so go get the Diet Coke I PAID for. You have to order on self serve order screen. No one takes orders at counter anymore. Be careful when ordering. If you mess up your order you can ask for refund if someone can get to it. They seem to not have any one working counter to help you other than to give you your food you ordered on self serve screen. read more

Don't waste your time. Go to Arcata or Eureka McDonald's instead. They will screw up your mobile app order, or they won't even receive it. Half the menu they don't even carry. So if you order something on the app, they won't have and they don't offer a replacement so you are shit out if luck. They will tell you get a refund on the app but that's impossible to happen. So you will pay for food or items that you will not get or get refunded. Its like throwing money away on crappy service they suck that bad. . It's a McDonald's. You know what you're getting when you go in. Better than some not as good as others. Opens early and stays open late. Drive thru window for easy access, and convenience. Sits in the Rays shopping center complex on the satellite road frontage, on the Central avenue side. The food is not great, not very good for you and usually a last resort, but when its late or early and you just want a quick something, it serves its purpose. The occasional frozen treat or coffee is usually my reason for driving through, and its cheap by most standards. It's a Macky D's - you've been to one then you have pretty much been to them all... You're better off driving the extra 5 minutes to go to the arcata mcdonalds. I have never gone to this location without them messing up my meal in some way. I decided to give them a second chance to try the Travis Scott meal and they completely messed up my order. They gave 3 burgers with only ketchup and onions. I used to come here every lunch break. I've spent around $100 here every week. 2 Fridays ago, there was a homeless man minding his own business, not bothering anyone. A kind man approached him and offered to buy him food. When the homeless man approached the counter, the manager berated him for "asking other people to buy you food" even though he didn't ask anyone for anything. This McDonald's was essentially purgatory. We arrived at 6:30 pm for dinner and waited until 7:00 for our first order to be ready. There were two other people sitting in the dining section. One was an employee on break and one was some guy bumming for leftovers. When we finally got our food not a single order was correct and one was completely forgotten about. When we got that order it was also wrong. I did not have a yelp account or the app ever on my phone and had to create an account to make this review but it was entirely worth it to warn anyone else considering dining here. It has become the worst place for service, they don't hear you and talk over you and when you repeat yourself many times, they do what they want then argue with you because that is NOT what the order taker put on the order, I have tried to be nice to them and ask nicely for them to fix it, they get HUFFY and MAD and then get EXTREMELY RUDE with you, then when you say thank you, and have a good day to them after words, they walk away RUDELY and do not respond. I went to McDonald's today in McKinleyville, Ca. The employees always have gloves on at the first window taking your money. But when you get to the next window to pick up your food, they never have on gloves. Only twice has my food been handed to me on a tray. I asked the young man today finally if he should be wearing gloves when handing out customers food. His response was.... Ahhh then a laugh and he looked around at other employees then looked back at me and shrugged his shoulders and said I don't know and closed the window. This is totally unexceptionable during the Coronavirus out break!!!!! So its plain to see that McDonalds in McKinleyville are not following guide lines. Come on guys get with the rules!!! read more

In light of the fact that diabetes is a growing epidemic in the US McDonald's just made the brilliant business decision to cancel the only truly healthy item on their menu, the oatmeal with brown sugar on the side, and instead only offer oatmeal with brown sugar premixed. Very bad service. I ordered two Artisan chicken sandwiches well done (due to last time the chicken fillet was almost raw) in the drive-thru. I waited for more than ten minutes and finally I went inside for my order. I still waited inside for a few minutes. There excuse was because I ordered well done. So I waited patiently. When I got the order. I checked them and found out that the chicken inside was cut to two pieces to make two sandwiches. Both sandwiches has these small piece of chicken. Also, the chicken wasn't even well done the way I ordered it. These was the third time the service was terrible. I don't recommend this McDonald's to anyone. Wow, something is really wrong here. This is the most austere McDonald's I have ever visited. The inside had absolutely no decor and a very little seating for a McDonald's restaurant. This restaurant was very unfriendly looking and unappealing from the moment I walked up to it. There were no trash cans on the outside, the outdoor patio was closed for remodeling, but the sign said "keep out." The restrooms were a mess. The ladies room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a really long time. The two Southwest salads were terrible, the lettuce had been frozen and was all wilted at the bottom of the bowl.
