Super cute and yummy cafe in Arcata. We stopped in on a Sunday while on our roadtrip over from the Redwoods. They have a great selection of coffee and food. I was excited to see some craft coffee drinks. I ordered the Strawberries and Cream Latte. Delicious! We also got the Matcha Lemonade - was good if you like those flavors together. We also ordered the caprese-ish sandwich with turkey; and the moonstone melt. Both tasty! The cafe itself has outdoor seating with a cute little patio, and the inside is warm and homey. This is a place to go out of your way for. The food is delicious, beautifully plated, fresh and well balanced. I had toast with prosciutto, melted cheddar, arugala, honey balsamic glaze and sliced apples. Really fantastic. My friend has a breakfast burrito which was well liked, enormous and had a bit of a kick. You had your choice of coffee. I chose the dark roast and it was great. Cute place in the small borough of Bayside. Only 3 parking spaces in their lot. You have to go up to the counter to place your order (and get your own menu), and obtain your own silverware/napkins, etc, and afterward, bus your own dishes. The only thing a "waitress" does is bring you your food. For that nice job, you still pay a normal tip, since you pay upfront before you realize how little is done for you. I liked that the coffee was easily self-served with good coffee cups, but the refills are not free. After much perusing the menu, what I decided on they were already out of by 9:30 a.m, so had to scramble and find something else up at the counter. I wish there were more places like this in every city. The service was great, the food was even better, the indoor seating was easy but the outdoor was like sitting in a garden and such a vibe. They had so many Gluten Free options, vegan and vegetarian as well, smaller meals, pastries (the literal best Gluten free cookie I have ever tried), and I cant think of a single thing here that wasn't worth trying. Don't go if you're hungry. Waited well over an hour for our food, checked in and said they are now making it, continue to wait, ended up getting a refund. This place is by far the best breakfast spot we have had during our stay in Humboldt county. Once you are seated you place your order at the counter so you have to stand in line to do that and then your food is brought to you. We ordered a few breakfast burritos, a bean bowl with a poached egg and 2 orders of the bayside breakfast with bacon. The bean bowl was infused with flavors and went perfectly with a poached egg and topped with avocado. My only wish was that the beans and veggies were hotter. The 2 bayside breakfasts came with a side salad some seasoned potatoes and 2 poached eggs. The burrito was also yummy and packed with flavor but make sure to note that is is topped with seed and sauce and and comes with pickled onion so if you aren't a fan make sure to take note of that! I also tried the mocha matcha which was not too sweet but still had a rich flavor of mocha. read more

I wanted so badly to like this place because it's cute, but that's really all it had to offer. My husband and I were disappointed with everything else :( Service : we stopped by one day as we were driving in the area and accidentally found the place, we walked in and the place was cute, we looked at the menus up at the front and after a minute or two I noticed we were there too late and they were in fact closing up shop for the day- totally okay that was our fault ! I work at a cafe myself so maybe this is personal preference but I've always been told not to ignore potential customers so out right. We came back today a few weeks later since I did want to try it and today our service was better, the girl at the counter was nice ! That's about it though, it's a self serve, self sitting, self table-bussing type place so it really can't be impressive since you kinda do it all yourself anyway but she was nice ‍ Drinks / food : Fiance and I ordered coffees, they were okay- good, not great but whatever. The food though was really where things went wrong. I ordered a kids waffle because I really wasn't all that hungry but my husband was so he ordered the full sized waffle. UHHHHHHH They're the same size ? I was really confused about this because the kids one is $9 which is fine but the adult one was $16 if I remember right and it was the same exact waffle but with whipped cream on top. Mine came with syrup but his did not which I also thought was kinda odd, we ended up just sharing mine anyway but why would something almost double the price be the same size as a child's plate.. The size of the waffle was the size of *maybe* 2 frozen eggs waffles, but possibly even thinner I don't know I guess I was just expecting a nice fluffy thick waffle more than an eggo toast like one. Time: took forever. Coffee took about 20 minutes, food at least another 20, reminder we just ordered what ended up being the tiniest 2 waffles so I don't know how it takes that long to cook.. there were no sides or anything that came with it so it was definitely a simple order that should've been pretty quick imo. I doubt we will be coming back, $50 for 2 alright coffees and eggo waffles that took ~45 mins kinda rubbed me the wrong way but at least we can say we gave it a fair shot ‍ read more

Gets busy on the weekends so get there early if you plan on going for breakfast. I also have to say, they have the best drinks in town alongside Cafe Brio. Cute restaurant for SLOW food! This is a quaint restaurant in a house. We came here for Saturday breakfast/brunch. The place looked busy. We ordered from the counter and took a number. We seated ourselves, got our own silverware, waters and coffee. We ordered a vegan burrito and chia pudding. It looked like they had a lot of staff working there, and the person who took our order was very friendly. We sat ourselves outside in the front garden area, which was pleasant. Then we waited...and waited... and waited. I think 45 minutes later, I had to go inside to ask about our order and was told that it would take a few more minutes. Food was delicious, but beware the long wait time. It is definitely slow food. read more

I love this delightful and intimate little place. The staff was welcoming and I immediately felt at home. The food was sensational. My daughter and I shared one of their savory waffle plates (plenty for us to share) that was topped with a yummy pesto sauce, eggs that were expertly prepared and waffles just crispy enough to hold up. And I can't rate customer service because they don't have customer service. Outstanding fun! The egg sandwich was not what I expected, but it absolutely exceeded expectations. It was a much softer egg than I'm used to on a sandwich and it totally worked with the bread, bacon, and sauce that came on it. I also had some rooibos tea that was delicious.
