The lady working the counter was a total bitch. I paid for my drink, but they wouldn't give me my damn cup claimed they "already put it out," even though they definitely didn't. She had a terrible attitude the entire time and acted like it was my fault. Then when I ordered the cookie tote, she got even worse. The cookies weren't even warm just old, soggy, and gross. Before I begin this review I want you to understand that I love McDonalds. I'm not an anti Mickey D's at all. I just do not like this one because in my opinion it is unclean and in my opinion again, they don't seem to care too much that the place is dirty. Some Background.... Newburyport is a very nice city some 50 miles north of Boston. The population of the area is a great mix of working stiffs and metropolitan chic. It's a great place to live, and the real estate, despite the economy is through the roof. Lots of people in Newburyport take the train every day into Boston. I am one of those. My office is in Cambridge, right next to a McDonalds in Central Square. To get to my office or McDonald's I have to navigate through or step over a huge population of drunks, drug addicts, homeless people, and other people who have nothing else to do with their time. These individuals use the bathroom in the Central Square McDonalds as their home base for water needs, etc.... Still with me? This McDonalds in Cambridge is SPOTLESS at all times and their staff is well MANAGED, CHEERFUL, and HAPPY to see you. I wish the General Manager and the Owner of the Newburyport McDonalds could take a trip to Central Square in Cambridge and see what a McDonalds should look like. It's amazing that the McDonalds in Newburyport is such a STY in my opinion...It's terrible the way they so INFREQUENTLY send a person to the DINING area to CLEAN up. The trash goes UNCOLLECTED, the fountain area is a MESS, and the Bathrooms look like what you would think the bathroom would look like in Cambridge. It sucks. Look behind the counter of this establishment. In my opinion it does not look like a McDonalds that is towing the company line... Is this a Rogue Mickey D's? Very slow service, rude employees, machines are always broken (ice cream,soda etc.) seems to be a common theme with the McDonald's in this general area with bathrooms being disgusting and never cleaned. I would recommend the Seabrook McDonald's over any other choices in the area. read more

I totally agree with the other reviewer. I love mcdonalds, and have been to the well run ones in Cambridge and saugus too. The Newburyport one is the worst run mcdonalds I have ever been to. It's worse than having nothing because I'm tempted to go there and I'm always let down for one reason or another. They never get the order right. I get breakfast for the kids sometimes, and something is always missing when I get home. You're better off driving somewhere else if the kids want a mcdonalds breakfast. read more

On the plus side it was attractive inside and mostly pretty clean (the exception being a few flies) and the staff were friendly and helpful. Went through the drive thru, the woman taking my order was rude, arrived at the window to retrieve my food and the woman hands me my food and says nothing. Parked to eat our food and we're missing half our order - specifically (4) 6 piece chicken. So we go inside to ask for our missing food and they gave us all 4 piece chicken nuggets even though we order and paid for 6 pieces. Being handicapped (I have a bad leg) I had a hard time finding a place to sit and when we did, There were so many fly's we could not sit there. We ended up eating in the car. Nope, They haven't even asked anything about my handi-cap and they can't ever hire someone in a wheel chair, place is too small. ,Pam, who is the GM ,always is sloppy, loud and so fake when she stands sideways you can't see her. Joking, she's eaten too much of the fatty food there. Ah, the ever so friendly, owner David . David owns NBT, Amesbury, and Andover Mickey Dungeons. is not a picture of someone who cares about his employees, never mind, himself. He's the tall guy ,brown hair, unshaven, maybe yellow teeth. They hire anyone and they hope you don't have a brain, like the Tin Man. Now, I know that to keep their employees uninformed of their rights, they purposely hire people who are uneducated and if young,, they may not know any better. I feel uncomfortable disrespecting management but, in this case, they can go on with their miserable jobs and ruin the morale of their employees, well? The owner and management are mostly at fault. Such a high turnover and open interviews every week? The abused employees leave.. You don't turn away an employee who demonstrates in a short time who has been there, Demonstrating stringent work ethics. I am ten minutes early for my 2 million dollar paycheck shift. On time, no call outs and ready to do my best. The next week, I got only 3 1/2 hours, I burst into tears, and asked why? I was hired for full-time, without anyone to train me? Also, you can't be on the floor,until trained on all stations, there has to be a dozen stations.They have no one to train me, then why hire me?
