Taking a road trip, the family needed to take a pit stop for restrooms and to get something to eat. We usually try not to do fast food but we make exceptions for road trips. First off, we notice how clean the inside is, even the kids playland area. Most importantly, the bathrooms (at least the women's) are clean. Probably the cleanest McDonalds bathroom that I've been in for a LONG time. You could smell the bleach and see the floor/toilets clean. That's a plus to me. The food wasn't bad (it's fast food) and tides us over until we get to our destination. I was concerned about the service/food because of the low stars but decided to give it a try (plus, really needed to find a restroom). Oregon is severely lacking in rest stops along 101. Anyways, I heard one person complain about their chicken nuggets while waiting for our food but the staff was courteous and tried to make it right. Give this place a try and remember that being in food service/customer service is hard work. Try to understand what the staff are going through and let them know (nicely) if something is wrong, along with if something is right/great. Safe travels everyone!! read more

This McDonald's in Newport has a play area, which is great if you have kids. The staff are incredibly friendly. There are no locks on the bathroom doors, which is a plus. That being said, like all McDonalds, the happy meals are pretty sad looking things with tiny little baby fries and soggy looking burgers. But I expected as much so no disappointment here read more

I was famished and asked my mother to stop for a burger on our road trip today. She said we could stop at McDonald's. When we arrived a young man took our order in the drive through, I wanted a double quarter pounder. The standard double quarter pounder comes with two patties, American cheese, mustard, ketchup, pickles, and slivered onion. I am picky, so I requested no pickles or mustard and extra onion. I got a root beer and large fry. When I receive my meal from any place I make sure it's perfect. My burger was plain other than onion and cheese, they removed my ketchup!! The lid on my root beer was a very unsettling green, like how plastic tarnishes after being sat in your grand-dads garage for years. The plastic lid was hard! It was so hard I had to force my finger inside to get my straw in, when I managed to get the straw in it pinched the straw making it nearly impossible to drink from. my fries had barley any salt, like they want VERY light on the salt. Went through the Drive Thru today around 11:00 am. Ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich w/Medium Fries. There are only pickles on the Crispy Chicken. I called the restaurant, and the person I spoke to said that the Crispy Chicken Sandwich only consists of the Crispy Chicken Patty, Pickles, and Butter on the toasted bun. My bun was over toasted. There should be other condiments on the sandwich like: Mayonnaise, Honey Mustard, Ranch, Sweet Hot Mustard. The sandwich should not be plain. Plus the fries were cold. read more

I guess We are not the only one who had a terrible experience here. Stopped for a snack on the way back home, went through the drive thru and ordered the chicken tenders. The fries were good but the tenders had been out awhile. The problem was the manager working the drive thru. No greeting, no smile, basically gave the food to us, looked in the bag and noticed there were no napkins. Requested napkins and the manager proceeded to argue that there was already napkins in the bag He must be a napkin hoarder because when we requested additional napkins he did not want to part with them. I'm only doing one star because I really don't feel that customer and employee safety should be lax in any fashion. I visited this Resturant today and 2 employees had their masks part way down. I said something to the one that waited on me and he made it clear that he didn't really care. The other one was possibly a manager due to how he was dressed. I had actually spoken to a manager about this same issue, at this same McDonalds a couple of weeks ago. If they can't wear their masks right then they either don't understand how they work, or they just don't care about protecting others. Either way, it's not acceptable to me at this point in time. I am a fan of McDonalds -- not necessarily for everything on their menu -- but for consistent, clean, traveler friendly, and well maintained -- you can't beat the Mac. And the Newport McDonalds is a prime example. Good, strong sodas. Crispy fries. Perfect little kid-sized burgers (that make great on-the-road fare for a little car-loving dog....) The bathrooms here are clean, handicap friendly, and well kept. The parking lot is big, well lighted, and safe. No loiterers or screaming parents with their rude children -- at least not when I've been there. It's a McDonalds -- which means cheap, fast, and yummy breakfast --- and sometimes other stuff. Been here a couple times and the drive thru takes forever, and they always forget to put stuff in your order that is right on the screen. If you put hot sauce on your order, it's not hard to read and put a few packets of hot sauce in the bag. This isn't rocket science. read more

I eat at McDonald's frequently due to work. I believe the restaurant provides great value and has made improvements in recent years. However, I feel lately profit margins have held more weight than quality. The staff was friendly and professional. They greeted me with smiles and was served quickly. However, the food was a sharp contrast for how I was attended. I ordered the Gran Mac and Shamrock Milkshake. The Gran Mac was lackluster. I saw an advertisement which made me crave it (good job marketing). I felt there wasn't much difference between the regular Big Mac and the Gran Mac. The beef patties were not bigger than regular burgers, which the advertisement made it look like. Therfore, the rating for the Gran Mac is 2/5. The second item I ate was the Shamrock Milkshake. As with the Gran Mac, it failed to deliver. The Milkshake is too thick. It felt like ice cream was poured into a cup and green colorant was added. Additionally, it goes from really think to watery way too fast. Again, I am not impressed with the product. Overall, the restaurant is clean and the staff is great. My family and I drove down looking for lunch. We stopped at McDonald's and my experience there has left me infuriated. No words can describe the trashy experience I have had. But let me begin. First of all, we were all hungry so we got ourselves a large quantity of food and drinks. At first I believed that the service was pretty good, until I was proven wrong. The server got our orders right except mine. I specifically asked for the mcpick 2 for 2.50 deal. I Said and I quote "2 sausage mcmuffins." Clearly, my order should've been correct. Yet as I got in the car, the receipt said 2 sausage eggmuffins at full price. What kind of bum gets this wrong I may have been too occupied to check my receipt at the time but I know now that next time I come, I'll bring hearing aids for my server. Second, I wanted a nice cup of Coke to go with my food. I got some Coke and it was honestly so watery you can see it. Angry, I was forced to dump it and get Coke from a new tab. Third, I specifically said I wanted my food TO GO. Yet for some reason they thought I wanted it FOR HERE? The lady who I believed was the manager was the one who transferred my food from the trays to bags, rather roughly I might add. She apologized gruffly and without a smile. On a positive note, the fries were great and there's a playground. Yet these positive factors of my experience are beyond negated by the trashy service I received. Went here for a quick lunch. The place is small, so during the rush hour (when I ate here) expect no moving room at the font counter. The Prices are a bit more then what we have in Hillsboro, Oregon, but your on the coast so expect higher prices. Plus I think this may be a corporate store, rather a franchise one like the Hillsboro ones are. The Food tasted ok. I mean, its McDonalds. The Angus Deluxe was very bland, like they didn't put enough mayo on it. I had to ask a mananger for some and he pointed me in the direction of the cashier. You mean to tell me YOU can't serve a paying customer? That is your job isn't? They also charge 25 cents for mac sauce when in Hillsboro its free. Another issue was the Cashier didn't give us our cups till AFTER we got our food.
