Early this morning (4/14/20) at around 3 or 4 A.M. I decided to stop at this McDonalds to grab something to eat after having a late night with my brother playing computer games. I had just enough cash on me for two McGriddles (yum) and an orange juice. I paid the employee with the one $5 I had and a few dollar bills. She walked a little ways away for a moment and comes back, now having a noticeably condescending and somewhat hostile look on her face (not that she came across as Miss Personality to begin with) and informs me that I can't afford my other McGriddle, claiming that my $5 bill is a counterfeit one. Despite her somewhat anti-social demeanor I immediately wondered if she was just joking. Wrong. I asked how she could tell it wasn't real and said she stuffed it into a machine that tells the real ones from the fake ones. Not knowing much about these machines I took her word for it and apologized despite having no clue it was fake. After all, I had just received it among the change I was given at the gas station. I drove to the 7-11 across the street to buy a soda and asked the man working the counter if he knows anything about how to spot a fake bill. He said he wasn't too experienced with spotting with just by looking, but asked me if I wouldn't mind letting him scan it with their own counterfeit detector. He right away did the scan and turned around with this funny grin on his face and said something along the lines of "the money is perfectly real, man. Want to just pay with this." I was like, well, YEH! I've had $10, 20, 100 bills tested in front of me in the past and didn't mind them doing it at all. I'd be doing the same if I ran a shop. But I must say that i don't think I'd go as low as to counterfeit examine $5 bills or even the singles. It looks TERRIBLE, especially if you're doing that in front of customers, and is it really worth risking building up a negative rapport with your customers over something as insignificant at these small denominations? I'd describe the girl for you all, but I'm sure there's no point since that McDonalds probably fires / loses / hires millions of people a week. I almost never see the same faces twice. I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting the newly renovated McDonald's on Haven in Rancho Cucamonga, and I must say, it was a complete disappointment. My late-night drive-thru order turned into a never-ending nightmare as the workers seemed more interested in pretending to be busy than actually serving customers efficiently. Despite placing a big order of 40 McNuggets and a few burgers, we were given a measly six sauces. Are they serious? To make matters worse, we were left waiting at the window for a mind-boggling 30 minutes while the workers casually strolled past us multiple times. Finally, when someone bothered to acknowledge our presence, their attitude was abysmal. The worker had the audacity to claim that they had given us everything we asked for and refused to provide more sauce. After what felt like an eternity, the worker reluctantly called the manager, Clifton, who turned out to be even more unpleasant. Instead of attempting to resolve the issue, Clifton decided to argue with me about the sauce situation. I mean, seriously? Is this how they treat their customers? In the end, they begrudgingly threw a few extra sauces into a bag and handed it to us, claiming it was all they could do. As if that wasn't bad enough, they had the audacity to suggest that if we had any further complaints, we should call corporate. Overall, my experience at this newly renovated McDonald's was nothing short of a disaster. The service was the worst I have ever encountered in the fast-food industry, and the staff's poor attitudes only added insult to injury.
