No more $1.00 drinks? On $2 Filet of Fish Fridays. Is this taking advantage of Catholics? (Yes...sarcasm...)
    Steve P.

Typical McD...except for one thing. On a Friday - $2 Filet of Fish as advertised. Large drink - $1.79 WTH Every other McD : drinks are $1.00. Guess how they are paying for the reduced price sandwich... PRO: Kids working were polite and efficient.

    Hash brown

The good: This was the fastest drive-thru experience I've ever had. The workers were friendly and efficient. They have the 2 window set-up where you pay at the 1st window and get your food at the 2nd window. I got a hash brown (my favorite McDonald's menu item), a sausage, egg and cheese McMuffin and an orange juice. Usually, when you order a hash brown it takes longer to prepare your food but they had my food ready very quickly. Also, for some reason the hash brown here tasted better than normal (and it normally tastes great!). Maybe the oil was fresher. I found the hash brown here twice as satisfying as normal because the oil didn't taste as heavy. The bad: The muffin part of the sausage McMuffin was a little hard and chewy. The interesting: McDonald's started out as a hot dog place rather than a burger place.

I've had the chance to try their BBQ at local events around Ventura County, and it always left an impression. They make some darn good BBQ. BUT for this visit we ended up highlighting something just as exciting...their vegetarian options! It definitely says a lot when a barbecue place has great non meat options. I came with my friend Raquel (yelp elite) for lunch and we went all in on their vegetarian plates...well with one exception, we ordered the deviled eggs too. Let's start there: Their famous Candied Bacon Deviled Eggs are a must. Creamy, flavorful filling, lightly battered egg, topped with crispy bacon...yeah, they're as good as they sound. 10/10. Now for the vegetarian standouts: The Fried Avocado Bites were simple but done so right. Perfectly fried and paired with house made sauces that really brought everything together. Super shareable and perfect as a starter. 10/10. The Cauliflower Tacos were a reminder that you absolutely do NOT need meat for a great taco. These were hearty and loaded with (again) incredible sauces. My friend was obsessed and I get why. They were good, but I would prefer a meat protein taco at a spot like this. 7/10 for me. Beyond the food, the experience really shines here. The space has this perfect mix of country charm and rock n roll edge which is such a fun vibe. Service was top notch, and we love when owners are present and genuinely care. They stopped by to check in, which always makes a place feel extra special. And shoutout to our server Bentley, an absolute sweetheart. Next time you're in Santa Paula, do yourself a favor and check them out.

Gunsmoke is located in Downtown Santa Paula. I didn't pay close attention but I don't believe they have private parking. If you don't know SP, there is street parking and some parking lots. I would be mindful when you are planning to come for parking. I came with a friend midday so there was plenty of parking and seats as well so we got seated right away. I was happy to see the non meat options they have available. I was a bit bummed out they didn't have their hummus but it's just another excuse for me to go back. I did end up getting their cauliflower tacos. My friend got their avocado fries and their devil eggs. I had never had devil eggs, and tried those and were so good. I wanted more but I had already had all my tacos. I did appreciate the owner coming to greet us and finding out I was pescatarian. He was nice, mentioned that even though they are a BBQ spot, they still want to value those customers that don't eat, and asked if there's anything I think of to let him know to see if they can add it to the menu. Really appreciated that. Overall, bummed out I wasn't able to try their BBQ. The options I did try were all really good. I would come back.

As far as lunch is concerned- I feel disappointed. There was a picture of the fish tacos on yelp that looked good, so I decided to try them for lunch. It was not at all what was pictured. The fish was so so so dry, large clumps of american cheddar and just not any good flavor. Plus- they were $19. For a $19 quick lunch-I just want to enjoy my meal. I have had better fish tacos at Foster's Freeze, to be honest. I dont imagine myself coming here for lunch again.

What really stood out to me when I first walked in was the cozy atmosphere and the personal greeting you get from the staff. You could tell this is the kind of place where the staff takes pride in what they do. I ordered a burger with a salad and root beer. I always pay with cash for my meals and I was told I got a discount that day for paying with cash. In all honesty, I believe they deserve every penny with a tip on top of that. My burger had a nice mix of melted cheese and mushrooms and my salad had feta and a side of balsamic vinegar, my favorite. As I ate I had over heard another customer ask about David's well-being. The customer had mentioned that he was a compassionate man who had given them a hand in the past and had cooked for them when they were going through their own struggle. They said he had asked, "what would the people like in this community to eat?" Just by hearing this account, I knew this place was made by a righteous man of character. Character that may seem has disappeared in the world, but David was proof it still exists. I did not have the honor to meet David, but I did have the honor to eat at his restaurant. He was definitely loved and will be missed by the community. Thank you chef for serving the good people of Santa Paula!

It's become my go-to spot to relax, unwind, and spend quality time with great friends. One of the things that keeps my wife and me coming back is the outstanding hospitality. In all the years we've been coming here, we've never had a bad experience. This past Saturday, my wife and I stopped in for lunch because we were craving something different. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich "wet," covered in their homemade buffalo sauce with bacon and lettuce. You can customize it with cheese, tomato, or any toppings you like. It came with a generous serving of perfectly crispy fries that paired perfectly with the sandwich. My wife ordered the wings and chose half traditional buffalo and half garlic lemon pepper. They were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. Her meal came with celery, carrots, ranch, extra buffalo sauce, ketchup, and she couldn't resist adding an order of their delicious fries as well. The food arrived quickly, was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and, as always, we had an amazing time. Whether you're looking to grab an ice-cold beer, catch the big game, enjoy a great meal, or simply relax in a welcoming sports bar atmosphere, I highly recommend The Draft. B&J's menu proudly proclaims their corn burritos as "#1 in Ventura County," which is presumably the result of winning some VC Reporter "best of Ventura" reader poll. An order of four corn burritos costs $7.49. They took about 25 minutes to prepare. They are larger in girth than the Fosters Freeze corn burritos, and thus hold more refried beans. Their red sauce is spicy and distinctive with just a little more vinegar than I would consider optimal. Bare bones presentation with sauce and grated cheese and nothing else. For what we received, that price felt incredibly high, especially compared to other burger places nearby. The burgers looked great with all the fresh toppings and vegetables, but the flavor just wasn't there. They were big and visually appealing, yet surprisingly bland. It felt like a lot of ingredients piled together without much seasoning or taste to make the burger stand out. The one bright spot was the customer service. The staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely sweet throughout our visit, which I really appreciated. Overall, I was shocked and disappointed. I don't mind spending $67 if the food is worth it, but in this case, it simply wasn't. The desserts and ice cream are still 5-star quality, but based on this experience, the burgers were mediocre, flavorless, and way too expensive for what they were.
