Ok it's a McDonald's so you know what the food is. My review is about the restaurant. Service was good, received food quickly, & a great drink counter. The building was extremely clean. Cleanest McDonald's is have ever been in. There was a lady walking around cleaning tables, emptying trash, stocking the drink counter, etc... Her attention to detail was out. Bathroom was just as clean as seating area. No large vehicles, but gas station next door was able to accommodate me. (After I filled up). I don't normally eat at McDonald's but when you need gasoline & fast food quickly so you can get back on road this is the spot. read more

Somehow they managed to make McDonalds food worse than it already is. Tastes terrible. In terms of cleanliness, the dining room was absolutely disgusting. They need to just gut the place and start over. The drink station lid dispenser had years of crud in there. All the lids are contaminated. The bathrooms were also subpar but not the worst I've seen. The McDonald's in Socorro is one of the few restaurants that you can count on being opened all seven days of the week. Stay here long enough if you are visiting and you will see what I mean. I've gone through the drive thru and ordered and also used the kiosks inside. All my trips have been good. The food order was correct, hot and fresh, and served in a timely manner. The staff has been courteous and respectful. Everyone knows that McDonalds is a casual place, so everyone is welcome. My only knock is that sometimes you will go in and the tables have been messy where they haven't been wiped down. That being said, I don't know if someone just left and they haven't had a chance to clean it. Do yourself a favor if you are not from here and try one of the green chile cheeseburgers! Provided that this is the only McDonalds within a 10 mile radius of New Mexico Tech, I would say it is definitely a good option when options are so limited. McD food is as standard as all the other McD's, service wasn't too bad (as it was quick), food was hot when I picked it up, had items had most of your items menu (with the exception of chocolate chip cookies..!), has a drive-thru and mobile order option, and in a conveniently located area that isn't sketch. One last thing: if you're in town, you HAVE to try the green chili double cheeseburger. You can't get it in any other states! It's like visiting Hawaii or Japan and going to a McDonalds to getting something only on that specific location's menu. read more

So I'm no McDonald's connoisseur by any means - but I thought I knew McDonald's better than this. For the past few decades of my life, I only thought international McDonalds have special items on the menu. Those items that you can't find in the US. Those items that MSN write articles about and title "McDonald Menu Items Only in Europe." I never knew better until a billboard sign told me other. "Hatch Green Chili Double Hamburger" it read. "Come try it" it read. All alongside a double meat burger with, you guessed it, hatch green chili sauce on top. So we went. And we ordered. And we received. It looks disappointing at first (see picture). But after one bite, I was sold. It was DELICIOUS. Tastes like a McDonald's burger, but with more flavor and heat. I would go get it again (but I wouldn't drive to New Mexico just for it). So if you find yourself in NM one day and feeling fancy, give this burger and try and scratch it off of your "McDonald items only in certain areas" map. read more

In general, I actually like McDonalds. Who doesn't like their nuggets and fries? Lots of my fun childhood memory actually included the Golden Arches because of their playgrounds and happy meals. It's not something I found a lot of people to be proud of proclaiming, but I must admit that it is true! The only downside I generally find with McDonalds is the poor customer service. No need to be impolite at the drive thru. As any normal person would do when receiving food, I said "thank you and have a nice day" and only got a blank expression and silence at the window in return. It didn't surprise me because my expectation for customer service was already low here, but still, let's be respectful. We wanted to try the Hatch Green Chili Burger since we were in New Mexico. Right out of the package, it looked like a flattened quarter pounder with cheese. Nothing fancy. Taste wise, we both actually liked it. Had a bit of spice to it and the peppers went well. We made a quick stop at this McDonald's on our trip to Las Cruces and I was impressed. I used to frequent this location when I was attending college at NMT and it has come a long way! Despite it being a Sunday, the service was fast, efficient, and courteous. We were happy! The bathrooms were clean and so was the rest of the restaurant. The food was packed but the employees handled it with ease. Virginia, the manager, helped us, and she was great. All in all, it is was still McDonald's but it was better than anticipated and we were quite grateful! We would definitely make a stop there in the future! read more

Unbelievably bad service tonight. I ordered a mcmuffin and burger, and the employee at the drive-up window said the mcmuffin was taking longer, and to please park in the lot around the corner. I promptly parked at the spot labeled "RESERVED FOR DRIVETHROUGH LANE CUSTOMERS ONLY" #1. There was an empty #2 slot right next to it. After waiting for 10 MINUTES, I went back inside to see why my food was so delayed. I was informed that an employee had taken the food outside, but didn;t see anyoine waiting, and went back inside. I told them that they need to train their employees to look for cars in the spaces DESIGNATED FOR CUSTOMERS WAITING ON DRIVE-THRU. I didn't get a receipt at the window, and there was no receipt in the bag itself, so I had no number to call to complain. And now I'm here on Yelp. This McDonalds is a mixed bag. It's a newer location with nice furniture and a modern look, and, well, it's a McDonald's, so the prices are pretty low. On the downside, though, the staff isn't always great. Whenever it gets busy things tend to fall apart: the tables don't get cleaned any more, orders take forever to appear, the staff start getting things mixed up. Overall it does what a McDonald's should and the drive through is 24/7, but it's definitely not the best McDonald's around. It's much better at off hours when there aren't many customers as the staff seem more able to keep up. read more

The food is always great. The service is less than stellar. Every time I've ever stopped in the drive-thru, I've waited upwards of 10 minutes and as long as 20. Because it's the only one in town, that's to be expected, and I would even be willing to overlook it, but when the staff are totally unresponsive or rude, the time feels particularly frustrating. On our most recent visit, I greeted each associate with a smile and a thank you and got nothing back at all, only to leave and find that part of our order was missing. Very Slow. May be the worst service I have ever experienced at a McDonalds. This is not a isolated experience, we have visited here for the past several years while visiting Soccoro. We often see people leave the drive through line because it gets so long and doesn't move. Today we waited about 15 minutes for some simple breakfast items. When our order was ready we mentioned that we still needed our coffees. The shift manager just walked away asking for someone in the back to come up and help. After a minute or two (as our food was cooling) nobody came forward, so I called for her to come back over and get our coffees. I expressed our observation of worst service ever at a Mcdonalds and she said they were short handed. I am not sure if that is accurate as they appeared either untrained or not motivated. read more

I have had to come to this McDonald's almost everyday for a month. I don't like to post negative but I will post honestly. This little town is not used to the large influx of customers during this time frame with workers, school kids, and passers by. The food is mostly ok but breakfast is a hit and miss. With slower than average & forgetful staff making burnt food. Will post more frequently the experiences with photos. Summary: Hit and miss on any modified food. The drive through service was the worst experience we have encountered at a McDonald's. When they handed the order to us, it was mentioned the drink was incorrect. The employee at the window indicated they could not take the drink back and made no offer to obtain the correct drink. When we asked for the correct drink, she stated again she could not take the other drink back, slammed the window, and finally provided the correct drink. I think this is one of the busiest McDonald's I've ever seen. They had a huge breakfast crowd but everything was working smoothly. My coffee pot unexpectedly broke this morning so I was there just for coffee. And I have to say the coffee was delicious... hot and freshly brewed. I have worked in fast food restaurants, I have managed fast food restaurants, and I have eaten in fast food restaurants, and I can honestly say this was the worst experience ever. My order was simple "2 double hamburgers with green chili- no cheese." I looked the guy "Rene" at the cash register and I said "no cheese- absolutely no cheese- cheese is bad - no cheese". Of course I get in the car and there is cheese on the hamburger. So I go inside and say to Rene "remember-no cheese, cheese is bad" story. His response "I told them", pointing to the employees in the kitchen. So I went through the no cheese story with the people in the back. To make a long story short, they weaseled up a small hamburger with so little green chili, I couldn't see it. To which they moved a pickle over and said "it's under the pickle". So now I'm trying to contact the owner or regional manager. It may never happen, but it's worth a try. And why am I trying to get ahold of them? The cashier heard "large fry" instead of "large sprite" and unfortunately we didn't catch the error until our food was ready (yes, I know, we should've noticed the price difference). We brought it to their attention. They were very reluctant to offer a refund, asking instead if we wanted something else to make up for the difference. No, we didn't. It was very busy, hectic. The manager was very busy but the long and short of it was, we got the refund, but the refund was coming out of the cashiers paycheck. What kind of BS is that? Apparently McD employees really do "pay for their mistakes." It was an honest mistake and in the end WE the customers felt bad for pursuing it and the cashier was on the verge of tears. Food never gets put out on and time and you actually see managers on their phones or having long conversations with people in the lobby (I once went there and a manager was selling a dollhouse to some lady in the restaurant). I waited over 23 minutes in line for coffee only for it to be made incorrectly, because of their high turn over rate, employees are not given the adequate training they are supposed to receive, and we the customer get short changed in the service & quality of the products we receive. Way too much to rant about but best advice I can give you is to go to Belen, their service times are way much faster, and their menu is about 1.25 cheaper than Socorro! read more

Two stars and only just barely. - The good The food is usually fresh and well prepared. The store is clean and well maintained. - The bad This is the most expensive McDs I have ever been to. A number 1 is $6.19! The Egg McMuffin is $4.99 by itself. The service and staff are terrible. Chaos seems to be the norm anytime the sun is up. It is a busy location but not debilitatingly so. What makes it seem slow is the total lack of efficiency and what appears to be an lack of staff, though I would argue that there is enough staff, they are just not helping. I believe staff quality and quality is their main malfunction. An typical visit for me looks like this ... I walk in to find myself standing in a group of 8-12 people. There seems to be no pattern, so I end up asking people "Are you in line?". The typical response is for them to show me a receipt and say something about waiting for food. As I sort through the crowd, I finally find the "line" and the 1-2 people/couples in it. When it is my turn I meet the blank fact of the clerk and without a friendly "What can we make for you today" and just jump in and ask for a small coffee with cream and sugar. The clerk punches some buttons and then says "That will be $1.07.". I continue with "I would also like a sausage biscuit and a side of egg (build your own Sausage Biscuit for $1.89 using this trick). The clerk punches some other buttons and hands me a receipt, then turns away from me. I step back into the crowd to wait and just as I get there, the clerk sets what I assume is my coffee on the counter and stars lifelessly at the next customer. Ready for the wait, I get my coffee, head to an empty seat and get out my book. It can take anywhere from 2min to 25min to get my food. I've timed it. Getting coffee refills is infuriating. Having to wait in line for upwards of 10min while the manager looking person walks behind the clerk 3 times and yet never offers to help is infuriating. Why do I keep going back? Sadly it is all about options. I live in Socorro and there are just not a lot of choices. I go through stages where I boycott McDs and then I find myself back there when I get tired of Subway and the local diners. - My final thoughts Good food, clean place. Worst mcd's service anywhere - and we're not dumb enough to expect much from mcd's, but this one takes the cake! After waiting 15 minutes for an order - 40 piece nuggets, 1 kids meal and 2 snack wraps - we considered requesting a refund, but tried to be patient. at the 22 minute mark we were finally told that they ran out of crispy chicken, would grilled be Ok? at which point we said no, just refund us, please. The assistant manager asked the manager for permission to refund and he actually rolled his eyes! yes, we got a refund and while we were walking out the door, we were half-heartidly offered the food.(mind you that was after i asked the assistant manager if her location was a franchise or corporate location) "We're privaetly owned," she replied and told her counter worker that we already said we didnt want the food.
