I have had two awful experiences at this McDonald's in the last week. I order a simple egg McMuffin and an iced coffee using the app. The 1st time it too 40 minutes. And yesterday at 40 minutes I asked for a manager and either my food or a refund. Their response was they were busy and were training new staff. I stood there for 20 minutes and asked numerous times. Nasty, Nasty, Nasty! I came in just to get a Coke and the smell of the restaurant was foul. When I came close to the counter I saw all the food on the floor spilling out from the garbage in the food prep area. I'm glad I wasn't eating there. I also stood at the counter for 10 mins and was being ignored. I understand there is a busy drive thru to tend to but at least acknowledge the customer at the counter. I just walked to the kiosk to place my drink order. Finally a guy came and gave me my cup upside down on the bare counter. I used to have a problem with the Filet-O-Fish not being centered but now every Filet-O-Fish I've gotten has been perfectly centered. Love McDonald's and thanks for fixing the Filet-O-Fish!! Also, I really recommend the Filet-O-Fish meal. :) read more

Super long line, only one lane open despite having two. Mostly, the doors are locked to inside ordering with no signage saying so. I watched several customers parked their car walk across the parking lot, and then have to tug on the door to find out that the doors will locked. read more

This McDonald's is a pretty average location for the chain with the same menu as most other locations, with the nice exception of the lobster roll. They are located near the Maine Mall in South Portland. The store is clean and modern with no real issues on the inside. My biggest issue is the access. This location is difficult to access with a concrete barrier preventing traffic to access the restaurant except from the street. Stick to the drive through and eat those fries before they get cold! read more

Normally I would never think of reviewing a Mc Donald's but this was the best Mc Donald's experience ever! The MaineMall Road location was well staffed, very clean and extremely prompt in their food preparation at approx. 11 AM. The use of numbered stand-up tokens ensured delivery of our food. All staff was friendly, from the old man to the young teens and the counter staff. I have never had such an exemplary, excellent experience at a McDonald's, So bravo to the manager for doing good training and setting the tone for your staff. read more

I could live on Egg McMuffins. One of the positives of a chain fast food restaurant like McDonald's, is that you can generally expect the same thing every time you order and today wasn't any dire rent as I ventured out this morning for a quick breakfast. I certainly wasn't dissapointed this morning. I arrived around and within minutes I had my two sandwiches. The young server was very friendly and took my order with a smile. I asked for ketchup and she willingly provided several packets. Honestly felt so unwelcome here. Went out for a late night rush with friends. We used the walk-up kiosks and we don't have any stores like that up where I'm from. The orders were simple. A double quarter pounder meal for me, two 10-piece nuggets (one being a meal), and a chocolate shake. All of that combined shouldn't realistically take more than 5 minutes for a *fast* food restaurant to make. I got my meal out extremely quick in two minutes. My other friends weren't that lucky. Waiting almost 15 minutes. When the shake came out, the crew member just put it on the table. No calling out the order number or anything, we didn't even know if it was ours. So there it sat for 10 minutes, by that time it was already thinned out and melted. It took a good 5 minutes before we even saw a bag that wasn't ours. Get this, it wasn't our order, it wasn't an UberEats order, it was an order for another employee who was still on the clock. No joke!! And the employee ordered after us. Having worked at a McDonald's before, I would probably be suspended or let go if I, not only ordered food while still on the clock (which is technically stealing, you order food on your own time). But then making that food over the customers who ordered before you, especially if they're employees still on company time, huge no-no. That's all I have for you McDonald's of SoPo. Long wait times, blatant customer service issues, and lack of discipline are just a few examples. If you want to succeed in this area, these things have gotta change. read more

Ok, we're talking lobster rolls here and in particular the McDonald lobster roll. So as usual, my first move when I got home from work yesterday was to check out the fridge to see if anything looked promising for dinner. Definitely not a dieter's move. And what did my hungry eyes see but a tub of freshly picked lobster meat. No need to cook, no need to order out, just something to look forward to. Such great debates over the proper construction of a lobster roll. Most Mainers I know opt for a grilled New England style frankfurter roll with a line of crispy lettuce (for textural contrast, not simply as filler), then a heaping portion of lightly mayo'd lobster meat in chunks/pieces to fill out the roll. Last night's version had a larger French type roll as it's container with the sides sliced off to give the appearance of a frankfurter roll. Anyway, that lobster had a bit of a chew, was sweet, yet held a bit of brininess, really delicious. Breaking with tradition, various venues now offer more updated versions of the classic with mix-in flavors and toppings that generations of Mainers might scoff at. I am sometimes a streaky eater which might explain my desire to try the short lived McDonald's lobster roll for lunch today. In my experience, the common complaints about lobster rolls include the following...' Is that all there is, just lobster on a roll?'...'too much mayo'...' too much lettuce'...'where's the lobster?'...and 'too expensive'. Not to mention lobster that isn't fresh. Now, let's be realistic here. By McDonald's own account, the lobster used is frozen. Not one lobsterman is hauling a catch into the restaurant. No lobster boats are docking out back with traps full of fresh lobster. The roll I received was not on the classic frankfurter roll, but rather similar to the type I used last night though not skinned on the sides and not as large. It was evenly toasted, had what I would call an appropriate amount of fresh tasting lettuce, and then filled nicely with lobster meat, some of which fell out with the first few bites. But this enabled a tasting of just the lobster which I did with my eyes closed. Though not having the characteristics of freshly picked lobster meat neither was it mushy. It had about the right amount of mayo and enough of a lobster taste to justify it's 7.99 price tag. Great? Absolutely not. Have I purchased similar tasting lobster rolls for double the price or more and been angrily disappointed? Most definitely. So overall, I was pretty happy with this. Over the years, my favorite lobster rolls in Maine have come from places like Larson's Lunch Box in Damariscotta, Libby's Market in Brunswick, and the Fisherman's Co-op (now Boothbay Lobster Wharf?). Bad attitude, and incompetent here. I don't really frequent McDonalds much anymore but on two occasions they have been completely confused by an order for "seltzer water." First time I got coke and the staff said they do not sell soda water (until the manager told them they do and how to do it). Second time we just got water, even though I said it multiple times its soda water. That isn't a big deal but I got very bad attitude from the lady taking my order at the start. Allot of talk back, probably one of the rudest human beings I have encountered at a McDonalds. Everyone at the drive up windows was very nice, however. Probably a bitter baby-boomer. This was perhaps the WORST McDonalds meal I have ever been served. This place is over staffed & chaotic. Only 3 women kept this place from descending into useless. My sandwich was wrong and lukewarm. The hash browns weren't done. The coffee was wrong, (one of the three aforementioned women fixed it), & the filet of fish had almost no cheese on it & it was soggy. No one besides the supervisors even know how to work the kiosks, took THREE employees + the manager to get my McPick two ordered, it was absolutely absurd so I stopped going for a while until tonight. The two lines are pointless because you wait twice as long for your food. I went to the drive thru tonight, there was a gentlemen on the other end of the speaker who did not listen to me when i ordered. I repeated the order more than FIVE YES FIVE TIMES, he kept saying hello, hello, as if we were on the phone. My boyfriend [with a louder more distinct voice] relayed our order TWICE, he had no idea what we were saying or even what he was doing. I've been coming to this McDonald's for over 10 years, and I was excited when they began renovating and modernizing the restaurant a few months ago. I recently used the drive-thru to order an iced coffee. I've never had any problems with their iced coffee in the past. What happened next might sound far-fetched, but I swear it's the truth. They put hot sauce in my iced coffee. I realized this after I drove off and took my first sip. The coffee tasted hot/spicy and caused a burning sensation in my mouth and throat. At first I was so shocked that I didn't even believe my own taste buds, so I took another sip. I wasn't imagining it: this stuff was making my mouth and throat burn. Then I noticed that the cream in the coffee had curdled into little chunks/blobs, presumably as a result of whatever they added to the coffee. I'm not sure whether it was spicy burrito sauce or spicy buffalo sauce or Sriracha or habanero ranch -- they have all of those condiments readily available -- or it could have been cleaning chemicals for all I know, but whatever it was, it was NOT OK. When I got home I immediately sent an email to McDonald's and I didn't receive a response until two weeks later, and the response basically suggested that I made the whole thing up. I understand it's busy(5 car line) but you messed up my order(i was given crunchy chicken instead of grilled) and I was nothing but polite. I will never enter this restaurant again after the horrible service I experienced tonight. I ordered a McFlurry and a bottled water and waited in the lobby for 15 minutes before anyone bothered to ask what I was waiting on. The employee who made the McFlurry had no idea how to do it and had to ask the manager for help. As a former employee I know firsthand that a McFlurry is one of the simplest orders you can make! There was no apology for the ridiculously long wait. While standing in the lobby for 15 minutes I witnessed one of the employees on the front counter be consistently rude to customers. I also witnessed a woman from the drive-thru come into the lobby and cut an entire line of people stating she had already waited long enough in the drive-thru, and the employee on front counter allowed this to happen. There is clearly no effective management in this chaotic restaurant. If I could rate this store with zero stars I would. read more

this was my worst experience ever at this mcdonald's. I ordered a small iced caramel macchiato because i just needed something to drink and love macchiatos. i wait at the drive thru window for like 10 minutes and they come out with a small cold ass coffee in a hot cup. the ones with the lids. i couldnt go back because I had to goto work but that wasn't even the worse thing. Id imagine in my head that they just ran out of the plastic cups so i didnt think too much but once i took a sip, ive never wanted to puke so bad in my life. I was served a black cold coffee that was probably sitting for hours. AND IT STILL GETS WORSE. I open the lid and see that there's litterally nothing in it.
