Looking for a new to us breakfast spot and Honeycomb Cafe has been on my list to check out for some time. Today was finally the day we decided to check it off. It did not disappoint at all and deserves all the hype/love it gets from the reviews. Tucked away in an area that is mostly industrial/business headquarters area. You will easily spot it though from the beautifully done artwork on the wall. It is a small building so hopefully you can time it well to avoid huge rush/crowds. They had roughly 7-8 tables with some 2-person and some 4-person tables if you are looking to enjoy your food here. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and welcoming. They had so many tempting sounding breakfast sandwiches it was difficult to pick. I ended up going with their breakfast burrito and my wife got the Pine Point. Both were phenomenal and would be no brainers to order again, but with so many choices we would likely choose other new ones. My wife loved the bread used and the corned beef were perfectly made! The breakfast burrito was packed full with zero complaints. Drink wise we each got an iced latte, my wife got the mocha and I got the honeycomb latte. Both were very solid with a good amount of flavor to them. Lastly before leaving we each picked out a donut to have when we got home, a blueberry and a Maine maple. Good place for breakfast, although their beverages can improve. We went for a Blueberry Stuffed French Toast, a Little Bird (focaccia sandwich), a drip coffee and a latte. French Toast and Little Bird were great. Definitely to be tried. For drip coffee, you can pick from one of the four and I went for a dark roast which tasted okay. The Latte was quite milky with hardly any taste of coffee. Service was good. For beverages, they call out your name while food gets served at the table. There is limited seating space inside and we barely were able to find a space for ourselves. There are some parking spots outside but can fill up quickly as there is also a Driving Range behind the cafe. Overall, good food but try something else for beverages. read more

The Figgy Piggy bfast sandwich was so good. The sweet fig jam and the salty bacon were so yummy together! It's a small space, but we got there at 9 and people were thinning out so we were able to snag a table. read more

I am so torn about this. We have come here consistently for months and it's always been great-food, service, drinks. We went a few weeks ago and the coffee was horrible-I threw it out after 2 sips. I asked for over medium egg and it was overcooked and rubbery. I always give a bigger tip since I ask for the specific egg. Disappointing to spend over $32 and not be happy with the order but it is what it is. It was not busy, it was during the week. I did not want to write a bad review so I contacted them directly with my concerns. To their credit they responded immediately & offered to comp the meal. I just asked that the coffee be refunded. I never saw the refund. We returned today with higher hopes. I do not know what has changed but I feel like something has because our food & drinks were always spot on. And we appreciate their prices compared to other places. My husband (who always goes in to pick up order says the same folks are working the front). I don't know if it's the back of the house or what, but today's order had overcooked eggs again-ok, no worries as that's not the easiest thing to do for some, mildly annoying that I over tipped again for nothing. But the hash browns were not good and that is a first. They tasted like they were cooked an hour earlier and sat waiting on us. It's my birthday and I was looking forward to my sandwich and it was disappointing so I threw most of it away. I did not get coffee again, chose strawberry lemonade & they were out so I settled for regular lemonade. Delicious, filling breakfast after a stop at the doctor's office. The habanero ham sandwich had a habanero bacon jam that I wish we could buy and bring home! The biscuit was really good and moist enough to not fall apart - some they are so fry that they just crumble into tasteless bits. A true hidden gem!!! I absolutely love their breakfast burrito and I drown it in hot sauce! I haven't been able to try anything else for breakfast because I get that every single time. The portion is really generous. I also think they have one of the best matcha lattes for a cafe that doesn't specialize in matcha. The staff is always friendly and the place is some homey. I like to sit outside during the summer time where you can overlook the water. I'm excited to stop in to try the fall turkey wrap! read more

Finally made it to the Honeycomb Cafe, and I'm really glad I did! I had no idea this place existed, but now I can't wait to go back. It reminds me a lot of St. Joe's in Scarborough, though the portions here are a bit smaller. The space is great -- plenty of indoor seating, outdoor tables, and lots of parking too. You order at the counter, and they call out your number, so don't expect table service. Their breakfast sandwich options are super creative, and everything's under $10! Can't beat that. I tried the Casco Bay, and it was delicious. You could really taste each ingredient. My only regret was not adding an extra egg for just 75 cents. That's another thing I loved about Honeycomb Cafe -- no nickel and diming here. The coffee, including iced coffee, was really affordable, and extras like eggs (even vegan eggs!) are just 75 cents. wow! such a good place! it's so cute - nestled right on a pond. the staff was very friendly, we were greeted by multiple staff as soon as we entered. our food was amazing and extremely affordable. the french toast was delicious, i loved the filling. their iced matcha latte and cold brew were also surprisingly very good - and not rediculously expensive. they were very accommodating for our special friend who ordered a breakfast burrito with four eggs on the side - looked delicious! all in all, such a great place. we'll be back! read more

Well, this was unexpected! I think I've found a new fave. If you've been sleeping on The Honeycomb Cafe (like me)... YOU. ARE. MISSING. OUT. They offer sandwiches, donuts, drinks, treats, and more. Vibes: we thought it felt like a '90s indie coffee shop that might have started in the '70s and the owners didn't put a ton of effort into updating it and making it cool, but... we loved that. We loved the unpretentiousness, the incredible playlist, and the staff who seemed - I don't know - sincere? And THAT was refreshing; I feel like more people behind the counter are either disengaged or overly enthusiastic. Just be normal. (I had a head cold when I first visited and asked if they could make my food with "extra love"; they doodled little hearts on the tinfoil of our food, and that's adorable.) The Order: 1) the Veganrito (made with vegan eggs, potatoes, peppers and onions, and a house made romesco sauce served in a wrap), 2) Garden Sprout on an everything bagel, no veggie sausage (because I didn't think it was vegan; it's listed specifically as as vegetarian all over their menu, but maybe it's actually vegan?), avocado, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, and chive Tofutti, 3) a large black coffee, 4) two strawberry vegan donuts because we showed-up after noon when donuts are BOGO! The Garden Sprout wasn't for me; the bagel wasn't toasted (maybe that's on me for not specifying?) and the whole thing was VERY wet and messy. But the Veganrito?! THE VEGAN BREAKFAST BURRITO IN GREATER PORTLAND. I haven't had a burrito THAT FILLED in a long time. Easily, eaaaaaaaaasily, it weighed two pounds. No biting into just bready wrap here; you are going to be FULL after this hefty, flavorful, bomb of a burrito. Great for a colder day, great for those really ravenous days, and I'm guessing it would be great cold and leftover. Love that there were hot sauces on the table too! Open Thursday through Tuesday, 7:30am to 3pm, breakfast options are served all day, and you can order online super easily (and stay to enjoy it in the cafe when you arrive to pick it up). I loved Honeycomb Cafe and can't wait to go back the next time I'm in the Portland area. We were staying at the clarion and decided to get some coffee and food. Found Honeycomb and so glad we made the 10 min drive from the hotel. My girlfriend and I each got a coffee and sandwich. I got the meat lovers breakfast sandwich on a jalapeño-cheddar biscuit. IT WAS AMAZING. I loved everything about it and eat it too fast because I should have savored it a bit more. Obviously it's not an every day type sandwich but for an indulgent breakfast, you can't beat it! Coffee was really good. They put the sugar in it for you, hand you the cup and you can choose what coffee you want from like 5 or 6 different ones. More intricate drinks like the latte my gf had are made for you. The online ordering went very smoothly and it was ready when I got to the restaurant. The baristas were very nice and so friendly. The cafe was cute and nicely decorated. There were tables in the back that overlooked a small body of water and there was a driving range where you could hit the balls into the water! I'm honestly blown away. Most places you stop to grab a sandwich you expect to be mid at best, just something to hold you over. But this was excellent! This was the lemon pepper chicken sandwich and GOOD GOD was it good. First of all, it actually had a lot of chicken which was awesome. Then every other ingredient was perfectly complimentary. Such a hidden gem!! The amount of gluten-free options was great (both English muffins and wraps offered) and they were delicious! My partner had a bagel with cream cheese that was fresh and tasty! The online menu was easy to navigate and the wait time for the food was exactly what was predicted! this is easily my favorite breakfast spot in southern maine. i have been coming here for about 2 years and it is simultaneously my favorite place to recommend / bring people and i would hide it in my pocket forever to be able to just keep it for myself. i have ordered pretty much everything on the menu and it is ALL delicious. my go to is the birdie on focaccia, the BOGO vegan raspberry donuts (they're so delicious you'd literally never know), the banana smoothie, the matcha, and the raspberry mocha. i have brought all sorts of people with all sorts of taste pallets and dietary restrictions here and absolutely everyone has been able to find something and raved about it. also if it's nice out and golf is your thing there's a driving range out back. most importantly, every single person employed here is an angel. i left my keys here and the cashier got them back to me, they are never annoyed by my young niece's questions (she's in a picky era i'm sorry), and they are just nice. it's small but there's plenty of room unless you come at peak rush and the murals on the inside and outside wall are so cutesie. my all time fav. read more

We LOVE this place! Our gym is right down the street from Honeycomb Cafe and it's on our way to Cresecent Beach so we pop in once or twice a week. They make THE BEST breakfast sandwiches and their lunch options are stellar. The vegan sausage breakfast sandwich and the tuna melt are my go-to's... but I've enjoyed everything I've tried including the baked goods. Those vegan strawberry donuts are a worthy indulgence. I went with a few friends for lunch, having heard such good things about the food. But, wow, the lunch was HORRIBLE. Two of us ordered salads, both of which were just large, expensive piles of lettuce and not much else. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the only vegetarian salad (which alone was odd for a place having so many vegetarian and vegan options on the breakfast menu), took off the gross and rubbery fried egg (who puts that on a salad!), and was left with lettuce, a quarter of avocado, a handful of burnt chickpeas, and some pickled vegetables. The veggies themselves were okay, but they had so much vinegar on them, that was the entire salad tasted like. Inedibilbe. Another friend got a super-dry sandwich and a cup of what was advertised as tomato soup, but we were all pretty sure was reheated marinara. The only person who enjoyed her meal ordered off the breakfast menu. Lesson learned, if I ever go back (which is seriously doubtful), order off the breakfast menu. read more

Cute cafe for grabbing something light or for a full meal. I ordered a gf English muffin which was toasted perfect with a touch of butter and prepackaged jelly on the side. We stopped in here completely at random and we're sooo pleased. There's a pretty expansive breakfast and lunch menu, with tons of options for vegetarians/vegans as well. In addition to some sammies, we tried a few donuts because they were 2-for-1 after 12pm. These donuts were some of the best I have had in years, and they were $2.50 for 2 of them. We ended up ordering 2 more. The service was fast, the food was amazing, and the prices were cheap. This is going to be a new go to spot for us for sure read more
