The Case of the Missing Monopoly Pieces: A Two-Day Saga ‍ 550 Lawerence Express Way, Sunnyvale, CA 94086 Let me preface this by saying that McDonald's Monopoly is my Olympics. It's the only time I indulge in a McGriddle and a coffee, it's a ritual, spanning over a decade! This year, however, I ran into an unexpected challenger: the McDonald's staff. Day 1: The Suspect Wrapper I placed a mobile order early in the morning for my traditional McGriddle and hash browns. When I got to work, I noticed something was wrong: my McGriddle wrapper had been stealthily replaced with an old, non-Monopoly version. No game pieces. I shrugged it off and thought, "Okay, bet. We'll play a different game tomorrow." Day 2: The Hash Brown in Disguise I returned this morning, determined to check my bag before leaving. I walked in, opened my bag, and found two immediate red flags: 1. My hash brown was in a kid's Happy Meal french fry box (see photo, a crispy square peg in a red cardboard hole). 2. My McGriddle was, once again, wrapped in the game-piece-free, ancient wrapper. I asked a staff member point-blank why my orders never included the game pieces. Her initial response: "We don't have anymore." I replied, "Okay, then who do I call about this, because this is an official promotion." She did a quick U-turn, disappeared into the back, and moments later, triumphantly returned with two fresh Monopoly wrappers for me. This might seem small, but it's about the principle! It strongly suggests that some staff members are treating customers like chumps, collecting the game pieces for themselves and handing out old, used wrappers. Heads up to my fellow Monopoly hunters: CHECK YOUR WRAPPERS BEFORE YOU LEAVE! The race for Boardwalk is on, and the competition is internal! #McDonaldsMonopoly #MonopolyGate #McGriddleLife #CustomerService #RealityCheck #DontGetScammed #Monopoly #FastFoodFails #McDonalds

glad it's nearby but set your expectations as staff is so slow and stressed, they mess up my orders all the time. I feel for them but make sure you double check your order is all there before you take out. I only get breakfast here (served until 11am) and always use the McD's app for discounts since it's not a good value otherwise. App Deals: - BOGO | Buy one Breakfast Sandwich, get one FREE (valid 1x/day) - 20% off any purchase of $15 or more (excludes tax, valid 1x/day) if I'm getting a larger order for a group My go-tos: $6.99 Egg McMuffin $8.09 Bacon Egg Cheese Bagel sandwich

Sloppy job. Either they don't understand English or they are incompetent. Didn't get my order right.

While having pho at Pho Nam, I considered grabbing a few sandwiches there to bring back to the hotel. I had a hot date with Netflix later and absolutely no intention of going out again. But not far away is Cam Hung, a tiny Vietnamese sandwich shop specializing in bánh mì. It's cheap, and it's in the kind of quiet Sunnyvale strip mall where parking is not an act of war. It shares the plaza with a Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was practically deserted. Perfect. I walked in and immediately realized this was much more than a sandwich counter. The tiny shop is crammed with prepared foods, spring rolls, steamed buns, Vietnamese desserts, dried snacks, candy and all kinds of things I couldn't identify but probably wanted. The main attraction, however, is the bánh mì. These are big sandwiches, and even the most expensive ones top out at around $9. I got a Chinese barbecue pork and a ham and pork roll to take back to the hotel, along with a bag of roasted candied garlic and chile peanuts. I came dangerously close to buying the peanut brittle too, but the sugar would have nailed me. Even I have limits.

After a while, more guests started eating but overall there is a lot of space, so I wouldn't worry about not finding a table. After ordering, we waited for our food for 15 minutes. We ordered 2 Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwiches and Curly Fries. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, but the portion was small. The sandwiches were on the pricey side, compared to sandwiches you can find at chains. We ate the curly fries to complement our sandwiches. The fries were crispy and comparable to those at Jack in the Box. To conclude, I would probably come here again because I like the texture and taste of crispy chicken sandwiches. I would recommend this spot to foodies looking for an Asian-flavored burger spot.

The fried chicken sandwich itself was pretty great, you have to love breading because the breading is very very heavy, but the meat itself was just as juicy. Very very fair pricing for such a huge burger and in a very nice location as well. The tender beef wrap was not so great at all, the beef was far from tender and more chewy than anything. The sauce and the wrapper itself did not really go together. It felt like two cultures trying to mix and nothing really worked out here.

By the time we left, the restaurant was absolutely packed, with very limited seating available and a drive-thru line that stretched far beyond the parking lot. Arriving earlier made for a much more pleasant experience. We had no trouble finding parking and only had two parties ahead of us in line inside the restaurant. For our order, we stuck with our usual favorites: a Double-Double Animal Style combo with Animal Style Fries, along with a lemonade to drink. Usually I'd get a shake, but I wanted to save my calories for the hot menu items. Everything came out exactly as you'd hope, being hot, fresh, and made to order. The burgers were delicious, the fries hit the spot, and there was really nothing to complain about. What stood out most, however, was the staff. Everyone was friendly and energetic despite the growing crowds. I especially loved that employees walked around the dining room offering paper hats to customers. It's such a simple thing, but it's one of those little In-N-Out touches that adds to the experience and puts a smile on your face. Overall, this was a great visit. Friendly service, fresh food, and efficient operations even as the lunch rush rolled in. I'd happily recommend this location and if possible, arrive before noon to beat the crowds!
