I've never had the opportunity to spy or sample a cheese steak in its native habitat of Philadelphia before but I must imagine that they are quite a bit different than this because the offerings here at Cheese Steak Shop are... pretty mediocre. The meat and cheese itself, pretty important ingredients one would imagine in a "cheese steak", were rather bland and underseasoned. The hot & sweet peppers offered a bit more flavor, but they were haphazardly thrown on top of the sandwich, easily falling off with every attempted bite. I appreciate that they let you subsitute curly fries in place of regular fries for no additional cost, but the curly fries themselves were also underseasoned and they've taken the criminal but all too common step of charging for dipping sauce so if you want to enjoy your curly fries with ranch (the only right way to do so) except to be charged an extra dollar for the pleasure. The restaurant interior was clean and there was a surprising amount of seating for the small area, but sadly the food quality just doesn't warrant a repeat visit anytime soon.

Quick service, hot food, and a chill vibe. I was craving a sandwich while on a walk and decided to stop here! Curly fries were great, I asked for onions on the cheesesteak, but I think the girl taking my order mistook that for no onions, but it was tasty either way! I took it to go and ate the other half as leftovers

Really great cheesesteaks! Generous amount of meat in the sandwich and large portion of fries. There was a perfect cheese to steak ratio and the bread was very delicious. The curly fries were my favorite, as they were nice and crispy, but the steak fries were also good. The staff at this location were also very friendly and the service was very fast. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for a cheesesteak!

10/10 give me 14 of them right now. This cheesesteak I had right before going to Philly set the bar high. This is the best cheesesteak I've had in my life. The meat is tender but the cheese is melted in it so nicely. The meat is also super thin. The peppers give a nice acidity, spice and sweetness all at once somehow. There is a good amount of seating indoors but the plaza also has some tables outside. The service was quick and very friendly. I will say this sandwich was on the more pricey side (around ~$17 after tax and tip). However, definitely worth it if you are having the craving.

Suppose to be garlic fries, so dry and no flavor.

Spent $45+ and was disappointed when you don't get what ordered. While checking my order I noticed our garlic steak fries didn't have any garlic on it so I asked them about it and he took it back tossed it in a metal container and gave it back to me. Great, I thought until we got home. It's the same fries as he originally gave it to me, no garlic oil, no flavor. Bag it came in was dry as can be. What was he tossing?!? Not garlic fries.

I forgot how bomb dot com this place was! My coworkers wanted to eat out and one of them kept talking about how we should eat her. I knew the portion sizes her are kinda big so I went with a half sandwich for mine. Ordered the western cheesesteak with peppers. I loved how the bread was nice to chew, and that it was toasted. I also loved how there was just so much flavor in each bite and that everything was made to order so you know you'll be eating a hot fresh Sando. The cashier was laughing at my coworkers for roasting me over my decision to want a chicken sandwich, but hey, I stuck with the cheesesteak and I don't regret it.

Most cheesesteak shops have a thick and chewy hoagie that sometimes gets to be bit too chewy and becomes a problem trying to take a clean bite - more often than not, it ends up with the meat falling out of the hoagie, and/or juice oozing out onto your lap. Not so here at New Jersey's! This is the first time I ate a cheesesteak with no mess, no meat falling out, no juice on my pants! They solve the problem by using a soft hoagie roll. Yet there is not the sogginess that one automatically expects, as there is little juice to be soaked up. If you think that this makes for a dry cheesesteak, it does not. The meat is tender, not dry at all, the onions and mushrooms are not limp, but the flavor is all there! Some people may prefer the thicker bun to give it a definite bite, but I do like this more refined eating experience!

I personally have not been to this location, but had tried them when they were just Jerseys off of Winchester blvd. A friend recommended them because he said he had the best onion rings and they make their own ranch dressing. I got the standard cheesesteak with onions and cheese. Sadly I did not really get the cheese with my cheesesteak, there was one hidden slice inside my sandwich. Definitely not what I am used to if I have a cheesesteak anywhere else. The flavor was good, I just missed the cheese :( I know people love this place, but I will probably just go back to my regular spot on Saratoga.

It has been almost ten years since my last visit here, so I figured I'd give this review an update after my latest visit. The Good: * Large shared parking lot in a strip mall * Friendly service * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Housemade bread is terrific * The beef itself is so simple, but so delicious as you can really taste the wood-fired oven in the beef. * They make their own root beer and it's available in bottles and even on draught! They also sell root beer floats, if you're so inclined. * If it's your first time, get the OG French Dip with the jus. So simple, but so good. If you're a big eater, like myself, be sure to add a few extra ounces of meat on your sammy, for a nominal cost, of course. *Their horseradish will definitely clear your sinuses! I love it, but if you're sensitive to that, then be forewarned. * Onion Rings are very good, and slightly better than their fries imo. The Meh: * Honestly, with such great branding, I'm surprised they're just starting to venture out into the franchisee market, as they'll be officially opening a second location on S Bascom Ave by Valley Med. * A little pricey but they serve up a delicious quality product. The Ugly: * The location is kind of small and seats maybe fifteen to twenty people inside and out. Conclusion: Meat eaters need only apply.

I live in San Jose now, so I don't make it over as often, but I've always considered it one of my favorite places for a great burger. In fact, I was just telling a coworker this week how good their burgers were, which is what convinced me to stop in for lunch today. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. I ordered a burger, my wife had the chicken tenders, and we shared an order of cheese fries. The burger arrived completely undercooked. The pictures don't even do it justice--it wasn't just rare, it was raw. After a few bites I realized the meat wasn't even warm in the center. Since they use pre-formed patties, I'd think cooking them consistently would be one of the easier things to get right. By the time I realized how raw it was, I'd already eaten a few bites, and the meal was ruined. We ended up spending about $50 on a lunch that was essentially inedible. It was also 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. Maybe that's a sign that things have changed, but it's sad to see. As a longtime customer, this wasn't the experience I expected from a place I used to recommend without hesitation.

We thought that was a thoughtful and considerate gesture. As for myself, I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon, sausage, eggs, and cheese. It came with a side of salsa which added some freshness and helped balance the heaviness of all the meat and cheese. Overall, it was a good hefty burrito but just a little greasy. Kenny himself is another reason to visit. He's very friendly and chatty. He even took a selfie with us and displayed it on the monitor in the restaurant, which was a fun and personal touch that really made the experience memorable. The restaurant has a cozy, homey feel with rustic tables and chairs. It feels like you're visiting a neighborhood spot. The only downside is that the service is slow. Kenny is running the shop himself, and every burrito is made fresh to order. Sure your food is fresh and made with care, but it's definitely not the place to go if you're in a hurry. It's almost like walking into a thrift shop that has random things going on from hundreds of photos of Kenny with customers, US flags, a table full of military business cards, Mercedes Benz trinkets, etc etc. Please be informed that Kenny is THE only person in here which means, he's the greeter, the cook, the cashier, and entertainer lol. The food can take long for a reason and there's no music or TV anywhere so it's quiet. The furniture is random as well; some from an office space, elementary school, and an all wooden table with chairs from someone's grandma's house. Me and my co workers ordered 2 burritos: Regular steak and eggs and a steak bulgogi. We waited maybe 15 mins for our which wasn't too long. The burritos had this soft white cheese melted on top which gave the tortilla this vanilla sweetness. I didn't really like that. The steak meat was sweet but didn't have that bulgogi marinade taste. Both of our burritos tasted like a plain egg, potato, and blank steak breakfast burrito. It was nothing special but the size is huge and one can be shared by two people. The burritos came with this sweet chipotle sauce with some sweet peppers in which it did add some flavor. Kenny is the man though! He's super nice and proud. He's very entertaining and enjoys talking to his guests. His son is in the army so it's one of the reasons why he's very patriotic. Is it a bit much?! Sure, but this cafe wouldn't be what it is without all of this randomness. It's a neighborhood gem and a historic landmark in this side of town. Kenny is well known to the area and is beloved. We enjoyed his company. Thank you so much Kenny!!
