The restaurant was pretty empty on a Thursday evening. Only a few online orders got in the way of our order from being completed in under 10 minutes. Seating is plentiful too. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and a side of fries. The crispy chicken sandwich was super crispy and at the same time, surprisingly juicy. I would rate the sandwich a solid 8/10. However the fries were a complete let down. They were dry, and not seasoned at all. It was straight potato, deep fried and even the ketchup couldn't save them. I was pretty disappointed by them.
Heart broken that the San Mateo location in prime location of downtown San Mateo closed down, a little over a year. Glad this location is going strong! A bit of a drive but well worth it! Better than raising cane's and super duper! They are missing the macho sauce from San Mateo location. Glad the quality is consistent with the fried chicken menu items which is virtually the entire menu.
I came here during the lunch rush on a Wednesday and the restaurant was packed. Ordering is done through 2 kiosks that's by the front door. I ordered 2 crispy chicken sandwiches, 1 spicy chicken sandwich, curly fries, and onion rings. Even with a packed restaurant, our food didn't take too long to be made. Since my son didn't want to dine in, we ended up taking the food home to enjoy. In terms of flavor, the chicken sandwiches were juicy with a slight cumin flavor but the batter was too thick (instead of "crispy", it was slightly on the hard side). As for the spicy chicken sandwich, it's actually not spicy. It's more like a "medium" at Dave's Hot Chicken. As for the sides, I would skip the onion rings. The quantity I received, does not justify the price I paid.
Macho Burger doesn't sell their flavored beef burgers anymore, just the Macho Cheeseburger. I was looking forward to trying their green chili pepper cheeseburger and black truffle cheeseburger. I ended up only getting the Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was indeed the crispiest chicken sandwich I ever had. My friend got one of their chicken wraps and the nuggets. She agreed it was one of the crispiest she had especially in the Bay Area. The nuggets has a slightly crispier outing than McD. This is an order at the kiosk and pick up at the counter type place. Your food comes on a tray and you bus your own table. They serve your food fast!
Hm got takeout since I love chicken sandwiches but this one was a miss. Probably just a preference thing but there are strong smells from the chicken that I've not experienced with Chickfila, Popeyes, or Dave's. And the sandwich is not cheap either I'd say it's actually probably the most expensive among them. For the price and taste I'md probs opt for one of the other three next time.
Macho Burger consistently delivers a really good chicken sandwich IMO. They season and fry the chicken exceptionally well, it's the perfect amount of scraggly-ness without scratching up the roof of your mouth. The chicken is juicy and flavorful too. One thing I love about their sandwiches is they're well constructed and don't fall apart - the buns have a nice sweetness to them without being overly dense. The fries remind me of McDonald's fries and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these. +$5 to add on fries and drink, but it's a big size drink and they give you a generous portion of fries. My only note is the spicy chicken sandwich could be a bit spicier but that's my personal preference. Would highly recommend!

Mmmm. Not my thing. Seemed like it had good reviews so I thought maybe a good new lunch place. I love burgers. These were just quickly made and very cheap quality. Same with the fried chicken sandwich. Fries equally not that great. Clean place. Weird service. Order at the kiosk and pick up food when ready. No human interaction.

We ordered a chicken kebab, beijing chicken wrap, spicy chicken sandwich, and some rattan pepper on the side. I noticed that they might've prioritized the to-go orders, because the big group of people who placed their food after us got their food way before us (we opted for dine-in). The wrap for the chicken wrap reminded me of the peking duck wraps, soft and thin, perfect balance with the sauce and the crispy chicken. The chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The buns weren't toasted, it was basic/thick. There was some flavor missing in the sandwich. The crispy chicken was juicy though.
My go-to order here is the Macho crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken is juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crispy, topped with just mayo and lettuce. It was served piping hot, with steam rising from the sandwich. I wish they allowed modifications though. I would skip the chicken skewers as they were about half meat half cartilage. I found it too hard to chew.

The restaurant had a few tables taken and ordering was simple with a touchscreen. We ordered: -Original Crispy Chicken Sandwich: the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. This was pretty good. -Popcorn Chicken with Spicy Cumin: spicy cumin came on the side and was $0.75 extra. You kind of need the seasoning for the popcorn chicken. This place's sandwich did kind of remind me of like Popeyes/Chick-Fil-A. Tips: - the spicy cumin tasted good on the popcorn chicken and sandwich -They mostly sell chicken here, but I did see one beef burger on the menu. Overall, it was an okay fast food experience.
Driven by this place a couple times after the gym and finally got to try it. There's a small parking lot in the back. When you walk in, you order at a machine. There's a paper menu on the counter or virtual menu above on the TVs. There was a lot of indoor seating and a few outdoor seats. We took our order to go so keep that in mind. Spicy crispy chicken sandwich: 4/5, my boyfriend liked the flavor and the chicken was super crunchy. The bun was not soggy but he wishes that there were more sauce. It has some lettuce on the inside but only a few pieces Curly fries: 3/5, they give you a lot for a side order. It was cold by the time we ate it but we also took it to go. They gave us a few ketchup packets. Unlike the chicken, the fries were not crunchy. 2 pieces chicken thigh and leg: 3.5/5, the chicken was super crispy and flavorful but I just don't think I can justify it for the price. Gavin wanted a burger last Saturday. We left Whis-Purr Rescue Inc. around 10:30 and I knew he'd be hungry. I Yelped quickly and saw this place when I did a search. I saw Cherylynn's and Amy's review, so I figured it's safe to go but please do not come here if you think the service is fast. We were 3rd in the queue (their orders were already placed). This is not a fast food joint, but can't say I regret coming here. We ordered at the kiosk. I was shocked when Gavin ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. This place is known for their fried chicken, so after we ordered I had to add an order of popcorn chicken. The Tender Beef Wrap is a Chinese version of the crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell. The beef was tender and so flavorful, but the wrapping was awful. It fell apart the second I picked it up. The fries were standard however, I must say the popcorn chicken was light, not greasy, and extremely delicious. I would not go back but very glad we tried.
I've heard of this burger spot online and had to try it! When we arrived on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was empty and quiet. After a while, more guests started eating but overall there is a lot of space, so I wouldn't worry about not finding a table. After ordering, we waited for our food for 15 minutes. We ordered 2 Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwiches and Curly Fries. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, but the portion was small. The sandwiches were on the pricey side, compared to sandwiches you can find at chains. We ate the curly fries to complement our sandwiches. The fries were crispy and comparable to those at Jack in the Box. To conclude, I would probably come here again because I like the texture and taste of crispy chicken sandwiches. I would recommend this spot to foodies looking for an Asian-flavored burger spot. read more
Lots of parking and very spacious dining room. Great for big parties. Love the simple and easy ordering system, the food came out very fresh and the staffs were very nice. The fried chicken sandwich itself was pretty great, you have to love breading because the breading is very very heavy, but the meat itself was just as juicy. Very very fair pricing for such a huge burger and in a very nice location as well. The tender beef wrap was not so great at all, the beef was far from tender and more chewy than anything. The sauce and the wrapper itself did not really go together. It felt like two cultures trying to mix and nothing really worked out here. read more

Made a huge change in my profesional life and I commute to Santa Clara now. There are so many places to eat around this area it's crazy. Narrowed it down to this place because i was feeling a chicken sandwich, and i did not want to have Chick-fil-A anymore. I just want to say that, I wish there was one closer to the Livermore area! This sandwich was really good; crispy, crunchy, big, flavorful and totally worth the price! I wasn't at the actual location, i ordered through door dash, and surprised that it was still hot. Lastly, i want to mention the packaging, it's very bright and i feel like it definitely adds to the overall value. One day i hope to visit the actual location so I can have a better tasting experience. I imagine its better when served hot and fresh! read more

The crispy chicken sandwich was still crispy and held up well when I ate it ~25 min later! Exterior had good flaky, crispy texture with juicy tender chicken on the inside. If I had to list something I'd change, I think I'd prefer a creamy aioli or another sauce alternative over the mayo in the sandwich. Fries were pretty good too. I'd say the prices are fairly reasonable as well. Would get again! read more

Macho Burger is located in a small strip mall off of Arques, near the Bank of America. I've been here before and liked their food, so it was nice to revisit. Kiosk ordering and no cash accepted. Simple, plain, modern decor with house music playing throughout the restaurant. Though, occasionally you will hear the deep fryer timer go off. Haha. Spicy Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwich (4/5). Piping hot, crunchy breading, with mildly spicy chicken. Fresh lettuce to chill each bite. Support your local business. read more

Fried chicken done well in this place. There's something for everyone here. The menu is pretty expansive. I got a Beijing chicken wrap which had cucumbers, scallions, and hoisin remenicient of a Peking duck wrap. Chicken sandwich was crispy and I love the sauce and brioche bun. I can say that the batter on all the chicken is flavorful and crispy. And with the 4 seasoning powders available you can go crazy with flavor experimentation on the chicken and fries! We got our order in less than 10 minutes and the service was very attentive. Will come again! read more
This place is legit. It was recommended to me, so I had to try it. Came by on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of parking and the place was empty. There's a tablet where you place your order and it's convenient. Didn't wait too long the atmosphere is nice. I love the bags the red bags. Food is great even though everything is fried. The spicy chicken wasn't too spicy, the pop corn chicken is great and the chicken sandwich is breaded and seasoned perfectly. The chicken is really flavorful. The only let down was the o ion rings weren't crispy. Overall really great place. Definitely give it a try when you're in the area. read more

The food smelled so good the moment you walk in, unfortunately i wasn't feeling too hungry, so I got myself some popcorn chicken and fries. The seasonings they charge extra for is worth it. The spicy cumin added a depth of flavor to the already lightly seasoned chicken and my friends fell in love with it. The fries are whatever but the chicken is something I think you guys should try. My friends fell got a chicken burger, but it wasn't like the normal round chicken patty. It was a barbecued piece of real chicken. Try this place and let me know if I am overhyping it too much. read more
Macho burger is either from China or heavily influenced by Chinese KFC. Note that I mentioned KFC and yes this place is actually mostly a fried chicken place rather than a burger joint. Chinese actually don't differentiate between burger or sandwich so all chicken sandwich or fish sandwich is called a burger. So don't expect a good burger here because even the only beef cheese burger offering here is lacking and I wouldn't recommend it at all However if you are a fried chicken connoisseur then this is the place for you. It's very similar to the fried chicken flavors that are offered in the KFC in China (btw KFC is more popular than McDonald's in China). The chicken are almost mostly dark meat which is the right way to do fried chicken so if you are a white meat only person then don't come here either. Otherwise the chicken is crispy moist and flavorful. The sauce is very similar to that was offered by ABC Chicken which is another Chinese KFC clone here in the Bay Area. The mayo sauce is served on the chicken sandwich but not super heavy. I also really enjoyed the spicy wings. Once again I didn't like the beef cheese burger but highly recommend the fried chickens offered here. There can be a long line and you may have to wait a bit depending on what you order but they tried to be efficient and I do prefer freshly fried chicken so that's ok. Place is not too small but parking can be a slightly difficult. read more
If you have tried the KFC in China (localized flavor), you would find very similar things here in Macho Burger. The seasoning tastes great just the price is higher than the normal US KFC. Service is decently fast during weekday lunch time. There are plenty of seating inside if you dine in and plenty of parking spots in the mall where the restaurant is located. Food 2.5/5 I was expecting a much better fried chicken sandwich at the cost of $12. The only yummy part about the sandwich is the fried chicken, it is crispy and juicy. However, the sandwich only consists of two cold buns, some iceberg lettuce, and a thinly spread of mayo. It's almost as if you could eat the fried chicken alone cuz nothing combined well together. Service 4/5 There's self order kiosks and everything else is self service, which includes drinks and picking up your order. Ambiance 4/5 The restaurant is spacious and seems more suited for office workers and solo diners. read more

Macho Burger currently may have two locations at the northern Bay Area. I tried their burger once at San Mateo, it's the Chinese fusion burgers with twist of the Szechuan favor. You can adjust your spicy levels with all flavorful Chinese burger style. Kids may like it. I would definitely recommend you to go try it, tell them I am sending you to here. read more
Nice place right across the street from the client I was visiting. Chicken sandwich was the bomb as they use thigh meat and a gray coating to produce a more unique taste. Tender and juicy but NO PICKLES but I'll live! Service was good even with a little wait, it was a big order so no worries. Fun, fun I'll be back again. read more

What a hidden gem! This is like an Asian/Chinese style Popeyes LOL except the chicken here is way crunchier. Never heard of this place at all, I came across it when I was going to Tong Sui! Glad I didn't skip out on it. I tried their Spicy Chicken Sandwich and their Fries, both so delicious! The chicken was tender, crispy, and juicy while the fries really tasted like Jolibee's fries to me. I really wanted to try their Shrimp burger but it wasn't on the kiosk when I arrived. ): Guess that'll have to be a trip for another time! read more
I was eager to try out Macho Burger since a similar type of restaurant opened recently next to my office. I really wanted to try the truffle burger but it wasn't on the menu. I ended up ordering the Orleans grilled chicken, and it's good but not excellent. The chicken is cooked nicely but the overall I felt like it could use a little more. The curly fries are fine, but the regular fries are pretty lacking. I like my fries crispy and salty! My dining companions also got the thing that looks a Crunchwrap Supreme (beef wrap), a burger, and the chicken tenders. The tenders were thin so that they're super crispy, but we all felt that could've used more seasoning. I did love that the food comes out piping hot! One minor negative is that the seating situation for little kids isn't very good. Most of the seating is high tops, and the one area that isn't is in a line against a window. Overall, I wouldn't be mad if someone wanted to meet up at Macho Burger, but I also wouldn't seek it out again on my own. read more

This was a fun experience! When I heard there is a Chinese style chicken burger shop, I knew I had to try it. For ordering, you order through a kiosk and grab your food when your number is called which is pretty straightforward. The inside has a simple and sleek design like a modern fast food shop. The chicken burger was very good! The chicken was crispy, the spices were done well and the bun was buttery. I can't point out the exact spices, but if you have lived in China and had fried chicken there, you know what I'm referring to. Anyway, as a chicken sandwich afficionado, I give it a 7.5/10. I've been meaning to write this for a while, but let's just say the craving hit hard on Easter Sunday and most spots were closed. I searched "hamburgers" and this place popped up, so I decided to give it a shot and wow, I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the staff were warm and welcoming, which already gave the place good energy. But the real star? That chicken burger. Hands down the best I've had in the Bay Area. Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and not the least bit dry. It was so good, I literally started looking up their other locations while still chewing. It's in a small plaza that's easy to get to, with plenty of parking. Major bonus! I'm based in SF and this one isn't exactly close, but I'll happily cross a bridge or hit the San Mateo location just to get it again. If it's consistent, I found my new chicken spot. Good food, large portions, fast service, Macho Burger hits all of the marks for a good restaurant. Food is ordered on a self-serve kiosk. The place wasn't super busy when we went so we got the food pretty quickly (~10 minutes). We ordered a Macho Fried Chicken Burger, a Beijing Style Chicken Wrap, an Extra Spicy Fried Chicken Leg, fries and a soft drink. The chicken was all deliciously fried, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fries were the only thing a little disappointing as they were more on the softer side. My partner ordered for us on DoorDash for pick up and there was about a 10 minute wait after it said the order was ready. Many orders were coming out, just took a bit for ours. I love burgers and chicken Sandi's!!! Did this hit the spot? I'm mixed about this place as there could be huge potential. I was def disappointed to find out macho guys don't serve you here. I came here because I saw so many good reviews regarding how this was the best chicken sandwich in town. Don't be afraid to park a little car. It's a hot destination for Tong Sui, door dashers, BofA, and bad drivers. Ordering is through a tablet and you wait for your number to be called. When announced, they will yell through the piercing speaker to let you know the food is ready. Lots of seating inside and out. I ordered the: Macho Burger 3.5/5 - they reminded me of an inn-n-out burger. It was composed of really good soft burger buns with what seems like an egg wash on top (like a baked char siu bun), island dressing/spread sauce, tomato, cheese, lettuce and a juicy delicious beet patty. I think they should offer a 2nd patty. The beef taste like right out the meat grinder. TLDR: burger bun and patty good. Needs to have option to add one more. Spicy Chicken Sandwich 3/5 This drew my attention the most. I found this Sando be good but could improve in some areas. I was hoping for spice and if it were possible to up the spice levels. It's not available on their tablet to order. I think they could've used a sriracha garlic aioli spread to add spice. The chicken itself was fried well. It had the texture similar to Krispy Crunchy chicken. TLDR: chicken good, needs a more spice and better sauce. read more
Macho Burger serves burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and fries. They have an exciting choice of logo, a muscle person, but it's cute, I guess. ORDER Self-service with a kiosk to order and check out. Minimal interaction with staff. Utensils and condiments are left out at the front counter. FOOD * Fried Chicken Sandwich combo x2 The meal combo comes with a drink and side options. My SO and I got both fries and onion rings. The fries were crispy and delicious, similar to McD's. The onion rings were okay; they were generic. The chicken itself was tender and tasted like chicken thighs. The breading was crispy and light but not flavorful. The layer between the chicken and breading was pretty wet, which made it slightly soggy. The sandwich had mayo and a piece of lettuce. After completing our meal, we both felt a bit nauseous. Something wasn't sitting well. It wasn't severe, but my presumption may be old oil or the chicken thighs. Overall, nothing to rave about this place.
