This was our first time at a Dave's. As a hot chicken fan, and someone who does foodie stuff on social media, this was something that we had been looking forward to for a long time. We decided to create an account and order through the app so we could build the order in the car and do all our crazy customizations without having to subject the staff member to that, or subject ourselves to judgement... lol We both opted for the "Build Your Own Big Trio", which allows you to pick 3 items from a list of 8 options. To be able to try a variety on our first trip, I went with the new Dave's Hot Mozz, the Cauli Bites, and the Single Tender. I wasn't sure what to expect from the hot level, so I played it safe and did the tender Hot, and the other two Medium. In hindsight, I'd probably do everything Hot. The wifey opted to try the Mini Sliders, the Spicy Buffalo Mac, and also a Single Tender, all mild. The mild obviously wasn't spicy, but had a good flavor profile. We got a couple sides of pickles, as well as a few smaller sides of the different sauces. We took a gamble on the ranch and Dave's sauce, and went with larges off the bat. We ended up being happy with the decision, as they were both very tasty. We also tried the Buffalo, Spicy BBQ, and Reaper Ranch. The Reaper Ranch was a tad spicy, but definitely manageable. More added flavor than super spicy. The food itself was delicious! The mozzarella stick gave an epic cheese pull, and enjoyed the flavor of the seasoning. The fries were also quite good, and wished we had ordered another side. The tenders were huge and meaty, and the wifey enjoyed her Buffalo Mac. I really enjoyed doing all the bite combos of chicken and pickles and sauce and honey and everything! The one blemish on the experience was that when we first got to the store, we grabbed a spot in the back corner where it was quiet with the intention of shooting some content. I spoke to the gentleman working at the register (Chad?) before we placed the order to ask if we could get it prepared for dine-in, so we could get the full aesthetic experience. He acknowledged it was possible, and to just let him know the name on the order. After placing the order, I went to the counter to provide my name, and was told by the woman packing orders that it was too late. I was disappointed with the snappiness at which she replied as if I was asking for the first time and her unwillingness to accommodate. Shout out to Chad(?) for his good attitude and trying to make things right afterwards - he came over later to apologize. I also super appreciate the hardworking staff in the kitchen churning out delicious food, and am looking forward to my next visit. Otherwise a 5 star experience. read more

A box of 10 sliders & fries is a great go to if you have guests coming over and you need something for a quick filling snack. You can order two flavors in a box of 10 sliders. I usually get 5 no spice and 5 mild or medium. It comes with the fried no bones chicken, buns with a tiny bit of cabbage slaw and dill pickles. Chicken is not dried out. Fries are frozen crinkle cut, kind of boring. Shakes just barely passable. Mac & cheese, hmm sometimes not bad. However, the chicken grows on you! Service is usually quick. I've had to wait a few extra minutes on occasion. There is an outdoor walk up window to pick up. Mild still has some flavor and maybe too spicy for people who don't like spice. I usually order no spice for them. It is usually a busy place and the music is loud. Lots of young people. My kids loved the sandwiches when they were young and enjoy them spicier as adults. Awesome place to eat at and hang out with friends. Place was not too crowded at 11am-12pm. We got our food promptly, and the service was exceptional. The person who served us was called Cam. He had a terrific attitude, was super positive and helpful, and just made the experience great. He was friendly all the way through--waiting for us to think about what to order, taking the order, giving us our food and condiments, and also giving us our takeout boxes. They actually have really big portions considering their slider is a full chicken sandwich with two chunks of chicken strips. I forgot which meal number that was called but you also got a side of fries and white bread underneath! I also had to try the deep-fried pickles which were so crispy and delicious!! My friends and I went around 11:30 on a Friday night and there were only a couple tables open/available for us to sit in. The bathrooms were closed off, but I think that was because they were closing soon and there was a Employee cleaning them out and mopping. He did allow me to go inside and wash my hands before we ate though. My friend told me he's been to the Dave's chicken spot in San Jose and they had a different mural so I took a picture of the mural here to make a comparison when I go to the other San Jose location. The pick up window idea is literally the worst feature I've seen in fast food. You are at a complete disadvantage when you have to stand outside and the workers are attending to the people inside, those they see directly in front of the register. We are routinely waiting for 5+ minutes to even be recognized, and we often have to knock on the window several times before they hear / acknowledge us. While better training or staffing might help, what's really broke is the model. I'd love to hear from a manager to understand what the philosophy is behind this design, especially when they are serving take out orders indoors - to those who order onsite. read more

I really like Dave's hot chicken in general and have been to a few locations in a few places and had to come 5* this because the staff is just so great. Very warm and kind and genuinely want you to enjoy your experience. I've been here a few times and the location is always very well maintained and clean I've been served by Maria and the manager Eduardo before and both are wonderful and helpful. This location should be a template for the chain locations and I hope the company's leadership or management or whatever know this location elevates the standards for the chain. read more

OVERPRICED & LOW QUALITY, AVOID!!! I came here on a Monday around 3 PM and it was mostly empty around that time. After looking at the menu I decided to get the 2 tenders (HOT level) with fries meal, and opted to upgrade for cheese fries. Unfortunately the cashier wasn't really engaged and I had to repeat about 4 different times my order and what I wanted. The total came out to $20.70, way over priced for the amount of food and food quality itself. That didn't even include a drink in the meal! I was asked if I'd like to purchase a fountain drink and I politely refused, already annoyed by the price and that a drink wasn't included, it wasn't worth paying extra. Upon sitting and waiting for my food I was able to look over the unique and vast wall art in the restaurant, which I enjoyed. The music playing however was terrible, just a track of distasteful 80's music....the type of tunes where you think to yourself please please don't let this song get stuck in my head. Upon looking at the workers I noticed they seemed uninterested in general and you could sense they were not happy to be there, but hey if I had to listen to that music all day I probably would've been miserable too. My food was finally ready and upon receiving it I got a surprise I would've never anticipated. There were cheap American cheese slices on each tender. I was befuddled and couldn't comprehend how the cashier would've gotten the idea that I wanted cheese on my tenders, it was very odd. I decided to ignore it because i felt if i were to tell the cashier it would probably require another 4 times of repeating myself for her to acknowledge with how disengaged she'd been in the beginning. I resorted to scrape whatever cheese off I could myself and just let it go. Looking back at the receipt I saw I was also charged for the cheese slices to be put on the tenders, and I'd never wanted them in the first place. The tenders themselves were extremely dry, far from anything like chick fil a or popeyes quality, (which isn't as expensive either!) I enjoyed the pickles better than the tenders, that's how poor they were. the spice level was mild at best even though I asked for HOT, i really couldn't get any heat from them, although I am aware that everyone had different spice tolerances. The only positive thing were ironically the cheese fries! They had a nice dry rub on them, they were crinkle style, and they didn't skimp on the cheese sauce which I appreciated. All in all way overpriced for the poor quality of the food. Not worth it nor justifiable. Want some chicken? Just go to popeyes or chick fil a even if they don't offer a Nashville hot style like Dave's chicken, at least you're not wasting your money with them like I did here. read more

7/4/2024 Dave's Hot Chicken 118 E El Camino Real Sunnyvale, CA 94087 I went there for dinner on the 4th at about 7:30 PM. It's in the food court at the corner of ECR and SSR, with plenty of parking. The setup is an order counter at one end with pandemic spaced tables inside and patio seating outside. All the music played was nostalgia pop/rock hits from the 70's-90's, no rap or hip-hop, great for me maybe not for the younger set. I ordered the #1 with one strip at the Hot and one at the Extra Hot levels. They announce your receipt # for pick up at the order counter. The krinkle cut fries were very good, crispy on the outside and moist inside, lightly salted. The strips had a crispy deep brown breading and well done but moist on the inside. Both spice levels were good with the apparent difference being the quantity of Cayenne pepper on the outside. The Extra Hot made my nose run more but I would order that level next time, no need to try the Reaper. The sweetish Thousand Island type sauce was okay but not really necessary for me. Service by all was consistent, kind, friendly and courteous; obviously well trained. The place is ultra-clean with the staff wiping tables with disinfectant wipes and sweeping the floor several times while I was there. Overall very impressed and a definite repeat. read more
