The McDonald's on Green Bay Road in Winnetka, Illinois, has become my favorite McDonald's in the world. As a Chicago native with deep roots in both Chicago and the Chicago North Shore, I am a frequent visitor to the North Shore and its restaurants. This McDonald's always provides good food, friendly service, and a beautiful dining space with great seasonal decorations, and is in a location that is near to several stores and parks that I love to visit in Winnetka. Thank you to the Winnetka McDonald's and to its very kind and very professional staff of employees for being both a wonderful part of Winnetka and a wonderful part of Chicagoland. My son loves this Mcdonalds! There's lots of seating. Clean, quick and delicious! No drive thru but that doesn't bother us at all!

What's in this photo? Not my order, Came in to this modern bougie looking McDonald's, starving like a child in a 3rd world country. Only a quarter pounder could cure my weakness. I asked for a quarter pounder, making a point that I wanted everything on it and extra pickles. This isn't a quarter pounder this is a pathetic ounce. Not even a second burger thing. And seriously? Onions bro come on that's gross. This was my lunch and I had to come back to class and guzzle water down to get that taste out of my mouth. This is probably the slowest McDonald's I have ever been to! Waited 30 minutes for two McChickens! How is this place even still open?

Haven't had an egg McMuffin for a while, so went here when I received a coupon for a buy one get one free breakfast sandwich. Thought I was getting a deal. Well it turns out that they charge $3.75 for a single egg McMuffin, and they were also selling 2 breakfast sandwiches for $4.00. So I got a grand total of 25 cents off. Thanks a lot McDonald's. The reason this location gets 1 star from me is that when I saw the charge and asked the clerk if the coupon was applied, since it looked to me to be too much for a single sandwich, he assumed a condescending and insulting attitude in his explanation. We all know what we're getting at McDonald's, but a lame ass promotion with a halfwit employee is not part of the deal. read more

They messed up our order which happens. When I brought it up to an employee they questioned me and made me get the receipt. I got the receipt and showed them the mistake. They wanted me to pay for the mistake they made. I refused. On top of the rude employee we did not receive any dipping sauces and did not receive a water we ordered. I've been coming to this McDonald's for 33 yrs and it's in its 3rd incarnation which is the worst of all 3. They've cut the size of the restaurant in half, drastically edited seating, they have 2 cashiers/ordering windows instead of the 5 they used to have and there is a long wait for food because they don't make it until you order it which is a big no-no in the FAST FOOD business. This McDonald's stands apart from the rest for having smart, on-the-ball workers. They always know what new items are coming and will do anything above and beyond to get you what you ask for. I notice they are precise and careful to get orders to the right customer and also bring them to tables promptly. Overall, I'm highly impressed. read more

If you want to experience some terrible service this is the place to go. I received a breakfast sandwich with mayo and lettuce on it and my fiance got fries so salty I almost vomited. I brought my ALL THE FOOD and receipt back in to the manager and he just gave me a blank stare no apology and said he couldn't replace the order because I left the store. He even took the food back and when I said I wouldn't be returning if that was how he wanted to handle it and he walked away... As a manager in food service myself, I was absolutely stunned that I could bring an entire order and receipt into a place, have them take the food back and then be treated so rudely when I was calm nice and respectfully explained the issue as I understand mistakes happen, but then they made the conscious choice to tell me they wouldn't right their wrong. Just don't expect anything to get fixed here once your order comes out you get what you get no exceptions even for 4 dollars retail worth of food that cost them under a buck. This is the reason we don't have McDonald's in the North shore. The manager Mariano wins the award for most unqualified worker of the year. It's worth the ten minute drive to Northbrook to not have to go here. Following day: So I'm retracting my original rating of 1 star because I got a call from the store manager and he deeply apologized to me and handled the situation very well. Worst customer service ever and I had pretty low expectations to start. McDonald's will typically sell the happy meal prize separately. This mcdonalds would not. I offered to pay for a full happy meal and not take the food but only the toy because it was breakfast time and they weren't serving happy meal type food and they wouldn't. My poor toddlers. I actually drove to another location and they sold the toy separately without batting an eye. We won't visit this particular location ever again so I guess it was really a win for our family! read more

This McDonald's is consistently excellent! The food is always hot and tasty. If requested, they will quickly custom make your order. I mention this because they do so happily, willingly and quickly. In many places, employees are not pleased to veer off the beaten path. The staff genuinely seems happy to be working here. Their efforts are evident in the quality of the food they serve.
