For a McDonald's in the middle of nowhere, this place is modern and sleek. They have the self-order kiosk right at the front where you enter, though we placed our order at the counter where a kindly older employee was stationed. She was chatty and in a good mood and even complimented my colorful jacket! Service was fast and efficient, and I was able to refill my water bottle at the soda fountain. We took our meal to-go, but I did notice the inside tables and benches and such were all quite clean and in good repair. A kudos as well goes to the two prominent and available all-gender restrooms, which were also clean and well-lit. Automated sink and soap, manual toilet. A lot of the good deals I used to rely on at McDonald's seem to have disappeared from the app (like free fries Friday and $2 off Happy Meals), which sucks and means I've been patronizing McDonald's a lot less in recent months. I don't factor that into my review of this particular location, however. The employees here seem to be doing a good job with what they've been given. We stopped here on our way from the Twin Cities to a campsite for some winter fun. read more

A McDonald's franchise is supposed to be predictable, hot, and reasonably tasty with friendly personnel who can deliver on that unspoken promise. This location fails on all 4 accounts. Workers who had little idea what they're doing and didn't care, a manager who didn't know much more. The fries were tepid. I asked to get some fresh, hot ones...and after speaking with the manager, the obviously disinterested young man dumped out the fries, and refilled the container with the same old, flabby, wrinkled, just-above-room-temperature fries they gave us the first time from the same batch from the same bin. The only difference was the fries were now about 10' older. I'm guessing that since the pickles on my quarter pounder were hotter than the meat that it had taken a trip through the microwave to try to make it servable. My wife's chicken nuggets were similarly tepid and clearly had been sitting around for some time. Next time, I'll drive however far I need to go to get something decent rather than stop here. read more

I want to preface this review by stating I generally HATE McDonalds! No matter where I go I never get fresh food and it's been a disappointment for the $ to us for the past several years. Stopping at the Zumbrota location was a TOTAL eye opener experience for me. My visit was on 9/12/2023 and, aside from the speaker not working properly, this visit was a fantastic experience! The staff at both windows were super friendly and quick. Food was great - hot, fresh and delicious! This was literally the first McD's stop I've made in YEARS where I was actually happy with the food. My only gripe would be that I paid for a large iced coffee but the printed info on the cup indicated it may have been a medium size instead. Overall still a solid 10/10 for this visit. What a waste of time. Stopped for a quick bite at 5:30 pm. No need to stop at this location again. Terrible food. Bum sleeping on the bench. All topped off with an unacceptable slow service. A crisp chicken that was tougher than it was crispy. Staff was more interested in themselves than presenting proper manners. A simple thank you goes a long way. Perhaps blame should really fall on managers, as this young staff surely hasn't been trained appropriately. read more

Sometimes I wonder why it is that the fries at a brand new McDonald's taste so great, better than any old and worn out Micky-Dees fries. I hope that it's because the equipment is new and they're using the freshest ingredients ever. Other times I think it's because they're trying to get the citizenry around that new McD's to start eating there and once they have them hooked they start feeding them the Soylant Green. Soylant Green is People! Anyway, this new McDoanld's is very nice, clean and offers free wi-fi. It has several vintage McDonald's scenes on the wall, from the era when they actually cooked meat in a traditional way before serving it. It's not an in and out, or a McDonald's in Italy (the best fast food you'll ever get) but good enough when coming back from Roch and you need some fries. read more

Don't waste your money. I'm appalled by this location. I would rather drive 30 minutes to Rochester to go to a McDonald's than go to this location (that's 10 minutes from our house). While ordering, the lady told me I couldn't get an extra crispy chicken sandwich because they only make it one temp in the machine (at other locations, they'll put it in the fryer for longer so it's crispier) but whatever. Not a big deal. I paid for my food and pulled up to the second window. The girl did not say one word to me, just handed out my food and shut the window fast. This McDonalds has about a 40% success rate of getting your order correct. I'm talking really random mistakes like forgetting the ham on a McMuffin or putting two sausage patties on one. You'd be better off going to Cannon Falls or Rochester if you really need Mcdonalds. read more

This is one of the most unclean McDonald's restaurants I have visited. I counted 9 crew and no-one was sweeping the floor or cleaning tables and there was spilled food on the floor and on the tables. Some crew were not wearing uniform and all looked unkempt and untidy. Not somewhere you want to eat food! read more

Had such a wonderful experience. I was driving through zumbrota on my way back from a trip and I called to see if they had any secret life of pets toys left. The guy on the phone said there were just a few left in the display case. I told him there was one that my son would like and he put it aside for me until I got there. He was so sweet and when we got there he just grabbed it and let my other kids pick which toys they got. We had such a bad experience at a McDonald's in a different town this morning and i was nervous about going to McDonald's again. He was so sweet and restored my faith in fast food workers and McDonald's. Thank you so much. We will come back next time we drive through Zumbrota. read more

My kids love McDonald's so I find myself eating here once in a while. I find this to be one of the worst McDonald's. The location is off the highway so there is always a lot of traffic and they have tight parking shared with other establishments. 8 out of 10 times, they will get the my order wrong or completely forget an item. The last time I was there, I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which took them 20 minutes to prepare and when I got it, it was nothing but gristle. I think I will be going across the road to DQ or Subway next time. read more

Restrooms suck. Only two single rooms shared by men and women. Very uncomfortable to wait in line.

They still get orders wrong so I make sure its fixed before i leave, but I am quite pleased that they helped me use a coupon with a substitution. read more
