They won't you sit you down if your spouse or friend is still parking the car. Today, the lovely hostess asked if my party was me after asking for a table for 2....I don't have imaginary friends, but maybe she sees things. They don't 'allow' outside drinks even if it's from home like iced coffee. I had an empty Tervis with remnants of the ice coffee I was drinking and had to explain why I brought it in with me- so I can fill it to make more iced coffee. Weird way of being if you ask me. We ate lunch here. It's a casual spot for breakfast or lunch. I was impressed with the management. It was very busy, but all the waiting customers and employees wore masks. While the outdoor tables were all occupied, the tables were comfortably spaced apart. I felt safe eating here. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait for a table, and it was! A few people were eating inside. Our server was appropriately attentive and had a great attitude. One of us had the Greek salad with seared tuna. It was large and beautifully presented. (Note: It came with salad dressing on it.) It was also delicious. The other had the turkey club. They roast their own turkey and serve the bacon crisp - the way I like it. This place is just yummy! Great coffee, great food and great service every time I go. We sat with Holly by Golly today who is hilarious and I love he vibe. Talked us until trying some Sausage gravy which was totally delicious. I have the lobster cake Benny.....I mean who doesn't love lobster cake Benny. Even on a busy holiday like Mother's Day, our party was able to be seated straight away for breakfast. That's not to say it wasn't busy -- the place looked packed both inside and outside! The menu isn't extensive, but includes several classic favorites, both sweet and savory. I enjoyed the hash and eggs over easy and rye toast, and a member of my party who ordered French toast with strawberries enjoyed that as well. My only complaint is that the black coffee was quite bitter, but adding a little cream and sugar took care of that issue. All the servers and staff were friendly and accommodating. Even the servers who didn't wait on us said goodbye and told us to have a good day as we were leaving. We will definitely be back for breakfast again or to try lunch. read more

Please don't support Mcgregor Cafe in Fort Myers, the manager Justin was an absolute condescending asshole this morning. Long rant ahead: My work team and I met up there with the intention of having breakfast and talk about work, not that this is important, but just to give you some context on how we presented ourselves, we work for a very reputable company, so we are not ratchet people that would deserve the treatment I got. We got there at around 8am, 3 out of 4 of us were already there, and the hostess made us wait outside in the freaking cold for the 4th person to arrive. It was in the 60's this am. Mind you the place was empty with minimal customers. I asked the hostess if we could wait inside and she said that she could get in trouble. It was a little weird, but we didn't wanna get her in trouble because she said it really nicely so we decided to wait outside and not make a big deal about it. The hostess noticed that I had brought my own coffee mug, and she told me that I was not allowed to take it inside the restaurant. That honestly rubbed me the wrong way, but the hostess was so sweet that I knew that it wasn't her that was making the rules. So I asked her if I could talk to the manager and let him know that my coffee was actually mushroom base with medication. She went to go get the manager, Justin, and he was and absolute asshole to me, he seemed offended and livid that I had the audacity to ask him such atrocious thing and gave me the worst attitude. At this point I was angry but I still decided to take the high road and agreed to abide by their rules because it was a work related breakfast and I didn't want to force my team to go somewhere else. I went to leave my coffee at the car, I came back and our 4th person had just arrived so we all headed to the entrance where the manager was standing and Justin deliberately picked a fight with me in that moment. He said to me "oh so you are actually staying and eating here?!" My response was: "well my work team is here. Why? Do you want me to leave?" To which he responds "well you are not off to a good start here! you are asking if you can bring your coffee with medication, I don't even know what kind of medication you have in there!" My boss interrupted his rant towards me to defend me and we left. Please don't support this business, Justin is an asshole and people shouldn't go out of their way to be condescending. read more

The McGregor Cafe has been on my to-try list for a long time! We visited on Father's Day Sunday, and there was a packed patio area just 30 min after opening time. I presume weekends are always this busy--get there early or expect to wait a little bit. Both breakfast meals were great. We had the Cinnamon Raisin French Toast and the Juarez breakfast burrito. We waited about 45 minutes for our food after ordering, which was quite long, but the servers were very attentive while we waited. My second review, 3 years later. The "Joe" The eggs were perfectly scrambled, not too soft, not too hard. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned, just like I would do at home. The bacon was thicker than normal and well cooked. The sausage patty had a good taste and was cooked well. Very good job. The French Toast. They use a cinnamon raisin bread. It was well soaked in egg and very well cooked. Dusted with powdered sugar. You could eat this without syrup, but if you use syrup use less then you normally wood so as to not over power the other flavors. Excellent! The Sausage Gravy and biscuits. Good sausage gravy, good flavor, but not peppery. I thought that the biscuits may have been over cooked and very mild flavor. Lisa said she would not order this again. read more

Arrived a little before noon on a Sunday as I thought they served breakfast until the afternoon. I was surprised to find out that the full breakfast menu had stopped at 11:30AM and then they transitioned to a lunch/brunch menu that had about 4 or 5 breakfast items on it, and the rest was lunch items. That being said, I opted for lunch as I had wanted pancakes or french toast and that was no longer on the lunch/brunch menu. My husband and I shared an appetizer of truffle fries. Absolutely delicious! Shoestring fries with seasonings and a drizzling of ooey, gooey sauce. So yummy! For lunch, I chose a turkey club with house chips. Fresh turkey, fresh bacon and homemade chips. = Winning combination. Loved my meal. And service was great, too. We ate inside (most folks opted for outdoor, patio seating.) They hired a new chef, Coleman Jernigan from New Orleans to beef up their dinner menu toward the fall last year. Today, I joined my wife for lunch at McGregor Cafe. Normally we would sit in the oak-shaded patio but we opted for inside seating to avoid possible shower in early afternoon. A friend recommended us to try the ricotta gnudi, crab cakes with New Orleans remoulade sauce, fried calamari and veal stuffed tortellacci. Since we are here for lunch, wife ordered breakfast croissant with bacon, with American cheese in an omelet style with potato salad. She loves that fluffy croissant and would order that again in a heartbeat! I ordered the Quiche of the day. A Potham quiche with potato, onion ham and two cheeses. The greed salad with balsamic drizzle compliments the Quiche perfectly. The servers are professional and attentive!
