We stopped here late on a Saturday (2pm) for lunch and the place was hopping. It is probably best to get here either really late or really early. Between 10am and 2pm my guess is their busy time. I think we timed it just right. Since it has been cold recently, we didn't want to sit outside on the nice patio. Also, there is quite a bit of traffic noise from busy McGregor Boulevard. I'm not a fan of traffic. Regardless of where you choose to dine, be sure to check out the enormous Staghorn fern hanging from the large tree. Our neighbors told us to check this one out while we were there. Impressive. One of the staff estimated it to be over 50 years old (personally I think it is much older....100years?). Inside the cafe was pleasant with a nice look and stylish neon green booths. It was, however, very loud in there. The voices carry and the place was filled with people (always is from what I hear). The food and service is the reason. Our server was prompt and pleasant despite being very busy. My husband has a cheese allergy and we asked her to check if the meatballs (appetizer) had cheese inside them (they did). Bummer. Our drinks came promptly and were served in enormous Ball glass mason jars that were almost too big for my tiny hand to grasp. We also noticed a wine rack but confirmed they don't serve dinner any longer. Assume the wine is a leftover from those days maybe they serve it at lunch? For food, I had the Veggie Philly (grilled veggies with melted cheese) and my husband had the French Dip. Both sandwiches were served on a delicious sub roll. Mine came with housemade potato chips and my husband got thin fries with his sandwich. The portions were just right, we probably could have saved some for later but it was so delicious we devoured all of it. Someone nearby was celebrating a birthday and they came out with the largest piece of carrot cake I've ever seen! Their website mentions scratch made desserts. I think they change regularly so they can't list them, be sure to ask your wait staff about dessert! We were too full from the great food. This time I ordered the chicken salad plate which comes with a slice of pound cake and fruit. Of course! The recipe was a yummy combination of chicken, nuts, and fruit with just the right amount of mayo (not too much). The patio out front is lovely for al fresco dining with umbrellas located at every table and lush landscaping surrounding the space. This is a charming little southern cafe and it's the perfect brunch spot. I enjoyed the egg white omelette with veggies and especially loved the over sized tea cup!! That giant cup of hot tea is immediately satisfying and makes you feel like you're lounging at home. The service is quick and the server was sweet. I recommend sitting outside and enjoying your brunch! There's parking on the side and back of the cafe and there wasn't a wait when we went. read more

I've been here twice, and both times the food was excellent. I've gotten the quiche of the day both times. This time it was a lobster/shrimp quiche with Hollandaise sauce on top with side of greens. There is always a bit of a wait, especially for brunch, but the food is very fresh. The crust on the quiche could have been crispier but otherwise was delicious. I have to be completely transparent here... I wasn't going to admit this, but I wrote a song about the salmon bagel at McGregor. And, at the risk of sounding totally arrogant, it's honestly the best love song I've ever written, possibly the best of all time. I can't sing it for you until Yelp gives the option of live performances, but trust me, it's good. Real good. "Broadway" is the name of this absolute triumph, and it consists of a beautifully toasted bagel with the perfect chew, Philadelphia cream cheese (ask for 2, they only give you 1 otherwise; side note: Philly is the only good cream cheese out there. If you disagree it's because you're incorrect), the most incredible cold-smoked salmon in a substantial portion, red onions, capers, and tomato slices, accompanied by a totally unnecessary afterthought of a hard boiled half of an egg. Trust me on this: if you think you've enjoyed Lox and Bagels before, this will blow your mind. Nothing about it is over-complicated. It's simple, yet undeniably delicious. Paired with exceptional service under a sprawling, shady tree, I can't think of a better way to enjoy breakfast, hence the greatest love song of our generation, which I cannot share with you now. I visited this place last month for the first time as I was meeting an old friend for lunch and she likes it. I arrived before she did, and even though there were empty tables, the hostess was quite hostile in telling me that she would NOT let me get a table while waiting for the rest of my party. I made the grave error of standing too close to the hostess stand, apparently, after that, because that hostess and another one that showed up glared at me until I moved far enough away. Actually, even then, when I glanced back, I still got the glare. Nice! Cool passive aggressive way to get that job done, I guess. EXCEPT, I wasn't too close... I think I am aware enough and know my manners and wasn't crowding their space, wasn't harshing their mellow, as there was plenty of room for other people to come up and be helped without having to ask me if I was in line or whatever, but...okaaaay! Our server was good, and the food was decent. It's right on McGregor and we sat outside, so though I am not usually a fan of outdoor seating (birds, "service animals" that are really just pets-and there were a lot of dogs which is gross, etc.) it was actually fine. I got a club sandwich and it was tasty. But those "hostesses", boy. They could use some training. I can get a club sandwich elsewhere. I don't really want to return to a place with unfriendly hostesses "greeting" me upon arrival. Also, all the dogs around is not really conducive to an enjoyable dining experience. Overrated. I drove past this place hundreds of times and it is always packed for breakfast and brunch. I finally gave it a try on a Sunday for Brunch and eagerly awaited outside in the hot sun for an hour to be seated. Then once seated we had to wait another 45 minutes for our food. Usually when you have to wait that long for your food it tastes twice as good.....not the case here. The menu is very basic with only the expected American breakfast staple items: pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc... And service is very slow and unimpressive. The outdoor seating is cute and charming but with no fans and inconsistent shade I was baking in the sun and left with sweat stained clothes and the beginnings of a sunburn. I got coffee, pancakes and added fruit on top and bacon. Coffee was subpar and comparable to any crappy diner. Pancakes were floury, flavorless, and boring. Bacon was pretty chewy. My favorite part of my meal was the strawberries and bananas on my pancakes. At least those were fresh! All our food was cold when it arrived but the direct sun at least helped to warm our food up a bit. Not sure why this place gets rave reviews because it's low quality food and service. It's priced fairly but I'd rather pay a bit more and get a more enjoyable meal. Not planning on returning. read more

Then you add in the specials, it was really tough to choose. We cannot say enough good about this place from the ice tea and coffee to our breakfast.
