This restaurant I found highly rated and it was worth every review. The food was incredible. The unique stuffed French toast was crispy and soft at once with the mascarpone and jam adding the perfect compliment to it. The carnitas hash with avocado crema was one of the best things I've ever tasted. The omelette hash was also very good although compared to the other two fell slightly short. The ambience was so cozy and happy. The service was also incredible and everyone delivered there food with a smile. They truly seemed to love there jobs. We had a baby with us and without us even asking a baby carrier was beside the table for her car seat. Highly recommend everyone to stop here. Ended up coming here twice for breakfast on this vacation, and both times didn't disappoint. We had to wait a bit (~30mins) the first time (friday morning), but it was worth the wait. The second time was a monday morning and we got in right away. They gave out free coffee as well while waiting, which was a nice perk. They also had a large tent section outside, as well as an outdoor uncovered area which worked out great for us, I doubt we would have been seated as fast without those two extra spaces The first visit I got the special, which was a pablano benedict, which was pretty good. The sauce actually had a little kick to it, which feels like sometimes goes missing in an attempt to not be too hot. The second time I got the Biscuits and Gravy, which was very good. The gravy had some very good flavor and a hint of cayenne? that gave it some nice heat but didn't overpower it. I'll definitely get it again. All in all, would recommend. We came on a Monday and the line was still 45 minutes long. We came on Tuesday early. No problem. The parking lot is a bit of a challenge, but the food is really good so I would say its worth it. My wife and I split a steak hash and it was really nice. It comes with a jalapeno scone and it was really good, even a day later. Our table was large so we were able to try just about every pastry. Everything was really good. The place is cool for sure, but pick a day that isnt super busy and it will be a better experience, but truthfully I would say the breakfast was worth it. read more

we chose mc kay's because of its yelp reviews, and yelpers didn't let us down-again. breakfast was delicious and worth the 30 minute wait. a nice touch is coffee or water in the parking lot waiting area as well as the ability to be served breakfast cocktails or spiked coffees. sophie was our server, and she was attentive without be overbearing and ever so friendly. my gourmet breakfast sandwich was outstanding-the homemade bread was really good! my husband got the baja chicken has stack and whilst he enjoyed it, it cooled quickly outside under the tent. Will someone please tell me why this place is so popular!? Every time we go we have to wait, and it was snowing and cold outside, and of course we had to wait outside on the porch. We were just there on Friday, the wait staff was pleasant, the food came out slowly, once it got to us it was NOT hot, just barely warm. Our waiter didn't come back to check on us until we were ready to go, at that point we asked for boxes. I didn't eat my meal, I figured I could take it home and put it in the microwave. Had breakfast here. we went 4 for 4 - all 4 plates of food in my family finished, no leftovers. This place seems quite popular. Decent french toast, the breakfast burrito is a good choice if you're hungry. We ordered two dishes: Stuffed French Toast and Smith Rock Benny. Both were absolutely delicious! And pricing? Just about right for the portion size. Our server was amazing as he said that I can not go wrong with anything I pick on the menu. If I don't like my dish, just let him know and he will take care of. Yup, you can't get that service anywhere. You may opt to sit outside (on summery days) or inside. Parking can be a bit difficult as the lot is small. The waits are long..and we waited another 25min past the estimate. I cant remember what I ordered the first time, but the last two times, I had a breakfast sandwich with potatoes and a turkey bacon lettuce sandwich with fries. The first time, i didnt remember my order and i usually have a great food memory..think it came w salsa. I tried a bite of the scone and biscuits and gravy my husband had. The gravy was thick and didnt have much flavor. The scone isnt like a typical scone, more cake like and alright. 2* The breakfast sandwich was done as expected and was basic. The potatoes were crisp. 3* The turkey bacon sandwich was just as expected but nothing to write home about. It was single layered unlike some places. The fries were mediocre. Some crisp but not that crispy and the wait for for food took awhile. 3* They make their scones, ketchup and hot sauce but personally, i wish theyd focus crafting the food a bit more. The food is stellar, but the customer service by the wait staff is what always impresses me. So sweet and nice. My crepes were yummy. This was my favorite meal for our week in Bend! We arrived on Fri at about 8:30. Quoted 10-15 min wait. Ended up being about 23 but it's nice to be able to watch your place in line on the waitlist app. Got seated outside and had a great waiter and a delicious meal! Didn't try any cocktails but they sounded yummy. Started with an enormous cinnamon roll. I only had 3 bites but it was delicious! Tasted just like homemade. Hubby got something with green chili pork. It had a ton of the potatoes and came with a butter scone. I think after that cinnamon roll he was sort of comatose but he enjoyed it. I had the Benedict with the bacon, spinach, tomato on a rosemary English muffin. It was one of the best I've had. Such yummy flavor and the bacon was delicious! However, they have outdoor seating and a well heated tent in the winter time. My chai latte was one of the best I've ever had and caused any thoughts of cold to wither away. This was our second try to eat breakfast at McKay Cottage Restaurant. The first time we gave up because we could not find a place to park. This time we found a space in a muddy overflow parking lot and climbed icy stairs to the front door. The restaurant appeared to be full. We were seated immediately at a nice table next to a window. It quickly became clear that the table was not the ideal place to sit because of a cold draft circulating around our knees and ankles. We started off with black coffee for me and decaf coffee for my wife. My wife told me that her decaf coffee was above average. My coffee was above average for restaurant coffee. My wife ordered French Toast with Strawberries. I ordered Black Butte Benny. I was intrigued by the idea of a pulled pork Benedict. I was disappointed. It was barely warm. The breakfast potatoes were hot and very good. I tried my wife's French Toast. Again, I was disappointed. There was nothing special about. The toast appeared to be off-the-shelf cinnamon bread. There were lots of strawberries. Bottom line, my wife wants to go back. The sweetest place with the greatest staff! Waited just a few minutes for a table which 6 months pregnant and holding me toddler. As soon as we were seated, they brought my son a little plate of fruit to snack on, along with crayons and a coloring sheet. Thank you soooo much! I've never had something like the stuffed croissant french toast before. (The eggs were a bit overdone/dry and sausage didn't taste great imo) Portions were sizable and leftovers can easily be saved for a second meal. Super busy restaurant but worth the wait! We stood outside after putting our names on the waitlist and we had someone take our drink order so I grabbed myself a mimosa. The mimosa hit me a bit so it made the food tasted even better than it already was. I'm not usually a sweets person but the lemon ricotta pancakes were sooooo goood! Fluffy and the right amount of lemony to it. I even gave the pancake a mini video shoot to get all of its fluffy angles with the syrup dripping around it but Yelp wouldn't let me add it on. My next favorite thing at the brunch restaurant was their hot sauce lol I actually bought four bottles of it and they were about $8-$9 each. Perfect for eggs and potatoes because it was sweet but had a kick of spice at the end that was enjoyable and not overpowering. We came here for a late brunch, we had the Newport Omelette, the Cannon Beach hash, the Baja chicken hash, the Ensenada Tostada and the kids had their fluffy pancakes with sausage.
