Holy Moly ... the Queen of dog friendly spots. It was a bit chilly in Bend this morning (42), but no problem, they had a heated tent on their patio. Wow, that's taking care of us dog teams!!! Water and a treat right away for my partner, and a menu and water for me. Menu has a ton of breakfast options making choices difficult. Everything was incredibly delish, and service very attentive from the dog friendly staff. This is literally best pup and me breakfast west of Rockies. Does anyone in Bend have jobs? Just asking because this place was already hot at 9am on a Tuesday!? Crazy. When we got there there was only outdoor seating available and a wait for indoor. We sat outside under their wonderful and spacious tent and were served right away. I got the hot chai latte, my husband got the cappuccino and we both thought the drinks were fantastic. My chai had whipped cream and cinnamon which is to die for. My husband got the lemon pancakes and I got the spicy benny. I love an eggs benedict and this was no exception. We didn't have to wait for the food and the waitress was nice, no complaints about the food, service, or atmosphere. We were very glad we got to try Bend's best breakfast restaurant on our way out of town. I think this place is fantastic and would love to come again some time! read more

Our breakfast experience was great here at Mckays! The wait was a bit long.. but worth it. There was a good amount of parties waiting before we arrived, so we waited about 40 min. However, we did take a walk down the street to the river while we waiting and that was quite nice. Everything we ordered was really delicious! Service was great and the ambiance was so homey. Only comment my bf had about the biscuit and gravy was that they were a bit heavy on the garlic taste, and the biscuit itself was a bit sweet. Different than what he's used to, but not bad. I Had the All American, with scrambles eggs, potatoes and a scone. Eggs were fine, but the potatoes were very overcooked and so dry, I couldn't eat them. So, at that point, I paid $17 for 2 scrabbles eggs and a scone. The waitress was nice and felt bad for the potatoes, and brought us a muffin and a scone to make up for it. Problem was that both of them were burnt on the bottom and very dry. Overcooked again. My wife had the cinnamon French toast, which was pretty good, but $17 for a couple slices of French toast seemed like a lot. They could have served it with an egg and had it be a better value. Overall, it wasn't the best first impression and not sure we would go back. read more

Such a cute restaurant!!! They provide bonfires to keep yourself warm while you're waiting to be seated, which is extremely nice during these winter months. The food is made with love!!!! The coffee is also amazing!! I went today, on my birthday and the waitress gave me a really tasty cinnamon roll for free. I had an iced vanilla dirty chai which was made perfectly. For my breakfast meal, I had French toast topped with extremely fresh strawberries, a side of country potatoes that were perfectly seasoned and crunchy. I also had a side of fluffy scrambled eggs, and tasty sausage (I did not finish everything lol) my boyfriend had a crepe, biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs, and potatoes. Our server was delightful. Loved that they offered a fruit cup, crackers and toys for our son to play with. Nice little surprise. The bread pudding was amazing!!! This place is so cute and has lots of seating! We arrived around 11 on a Saturday and waited about 30-40 minutes. I love how they offer you coffee or you can order drinks at their register. They will bring out your drinks and just add to your tab. Drinks: hot apple pie (4/5) perfect for cold weather. I only drink tequila, but this wasn't bad. Food: Harvest hash: loved the variety of ingredients. The scone was delicious, so I recommend upgrading (5/5) Guac n Roll: loved this "avocado toast" recipe esp with the chili - lime salt. I arrived with two other ladies at the front door of this restaurant at around 1145 on a weekday. It was cold outside with a brisk wind, but the way the store is set up the bakery is right at the front of the store so the door never closes and people are struggling to get around others coming in or out. Logistically it's sort of a mess. We waited 15 minutes to be seated, and instead of the tent we were lead to a 3 seater next to the window which was sort of small for 3 people to spread out. If I weren't thin couldn't have sat there. The table was totally unbalanced- by like 2 inches so that the water glasses were actually splashing all over the table until we got the server to put a napkin shiv under the legs to create balance. (They didn't know that table had a problem?) We also were not graced with napkins to soak up the water until we asked. So an inauspicious beginning. The ladies ordered tuna melts, and me, the burger. I got a bloody mary which was good enough (drank about 1/3), and they got white wine, which they seemed to enjoy as they had 2 glasses each. We were having lively conversation at the table and didn't realize it had been about 45 minutes since we ordered. The food arrived, and it looked great. I did not like the burger, I always find when they use "fancy" ground beef those don't taste the best to me. The fries were okay. However the burger was cold, the cheese hadn't begun to melt (I recall seeing a server about 20 mins prior to us receiving my meal- walking around with what I will assume was this burger). Again, we had to ask the server for flatware after the meals arrived. The restaurant was loud and very cramped. I'm new to the Bend area and have tried at least 8 breakfast spots- this was one I wanted to try- but my curiosity has been satisfied and it doesn't make the rotation. I just feel the service and the atmosphere is over-rated; likely because it's uniquely Bend that it gets a pass and that is fine, just not my cup of tea. We were offered outside, tent or inside easing within 15 minutes and it took just about that to get a table inside. Service was not fast, it was about 25 minutes from order to receiving our meal but our server was kind and attentive and we never felt neglected. It's so cute inide with the old craftsman style. The food was delicious. My kids were in picky pants mode so it was 50-50 if they'd want what they ordered when they got it but success!
