I'm not sure what was nastier - the bathrooms in this bar, or the attitude of the bartender with dirty blonde hair who was working last night. I was screamed at for adding one drink to the round I ordered last night because I wasn't allowed to "back order." Isn't it easier to get six drinks on one tab? McKeowns should look to hire bartenders who have better customer service skills and a greater ability to handle the "pressure" of a six drink order. Bathrooms are a total mess and there was no soap. Came here for a quick drink with the bf and tried the banana bread beer! I had never heard of it and am so happy I tried it! Such a good beer and not an IPA of course, so WIN WIN! The bar decor has a kind of old theme to it. The chairs have fabric on them and the benches do as well and almost have a Victorian feel to them. Not a typical bar decor but it works I guess. Very spacious indoors and have an outdoor bar as well that is open in the summer. The drinks are regular priced , about 7$ a beer. Not busy at all on a Tuesday evening. Bartenders are friendly, the music they played was country and rock themed. This is a Tuesday night, maybe it's different genre on weekends? Not bad. Will be back for the banana beer! read more

So.. where to begin. Started my night off great - beers, food, hangin. Then out of seemingly nowhere I hear this old grump sitting near me and my lovely wife - he was muttering something. Then I see it...I see him snag a few dollars off the bar and then say to his wife "watch this." He started accusing the female bartender (lovely young thing) of taking the tips, THAT HE JUST STOLE! Love this bar, I've been coming to this place since it opened and it has never failed to deliver on a good time. The bartenders are all great dudes (and girls) and are extremely quick. No matter how crowded the venue has gotten, I've never had to wait too long for a drink, in fact most of the time the only thing slowing the service down is the customers who don't have their money ready when they order a drink. The decor is warm and has a very homely feel to it... minus the smell of spilled beer and smoke. This is Huntington's pub and I always feel a bit like I'm home when I'm here. After coming here a couple of times recently I have to say this place really is pretty decent and it's a decent place to stop by when you're in Huntington. Only thing is that while the urinals have dividers, the toilet for some reason is totally in the open - keep that in mind if you really need to go. First, I want to say that the bartenders and bouncers are very nice and attentive. BUT I have some gripes: 1) we put in money for a song ("tell em" by the exciters), and it was intentionally overridden. It's not a free jukebox- I paid for that mother fucker to be played. And there were some lame ass songs that were played all the way through; 2) I have lost the use of my eardrums; 3) there is an enclosed patio which they inexplicably allowed people to smoke in. Yesterday, on 1/17/15, I attempted to go to Mary Carroll's. Thanks to the bouncer, Mary Carroll's instead lost $500 of my money to Huntington Tavern down the street (which was much more pleasant) I say attempted because when I gave my perfectly real and legal ID to the bouncer at the door, he scanned it and, because it was real, it passed the scanner just fine. He then bent it nearly in half (damaging the mag strip), threatened to confiscate and snap it, and refused to take another look at it when I very politely asked him to take another look. I then offered to get a police officer to look at it. At which point he told me I "wasn't fucking getting in even if you brought 3 police officers to look at the ID". So, I did get a police officer. Who informed me that what he had done was illegal, but because the bouncer hadn't actually snapped the ID he couldn't really do much about it. To the management/owner of Mary Carroll's: if he had snapped my ID, my lawyer would have been in contact with you IMMEDIATELY, as I had a flight the next morning. I would have been unable to get on it, due to your incompetent employee. I suggest you do something about your employee and his unbelievably poor behavior and incompetence. Especially considering the fact that he let in a girl without an ID immediately after me. I'll be happy to report that to the police. read more

A bars a bar, and that's what you got here. Buts it's a damn good bar.. The inside is always clean and the staff is always friendly. You can bring your own food because they don't have any... The prices are more than reasonable, the weekend can get crazy but with plenty of girls.. My favorite part is there fighting policy... One punch gets you banned for life, NO exceptions!!!! This is an okay bar. My lady friend and I went on a Tuesday. The drinks are moderately priced. The bartender is friendly. The music was a bit loud and the bar is dimly lit. There were several beer options, including some that departed from the most bare beer lists, including some seasonal, local, and specialty beers. I had a double IPA from Brooklyn Brewery and my lady friend had a mixed drink with Tequila. Although she asked for a drink light on the sour mix, it came out a bit too sweet for her. Really small place but has a few TVs and high bar table and chairs. The taps are actually pretty good, especially for a dive bar. I was surprised to see this place wasn't on here. Used to be La Madonna, Mary Carroll's is one of my favorite bars in the village. When it's packed it can be a little annoying because of the frat boy types/stereotypical LI crowd and the fact that it isn't very large. They have an outdoor patio in the back (heat lamps for winter) and they have live bands during the summer. The prices are average to above average but the drinks are very good and the bartenders will do buybacks. Thursdays usually have decent specials till midnight and there isn't a big crowd so its nice to relax out back. Good place when its not crowded. read more

This local dive is a fan favorite among the young party goers that flock into the area only to enjoy the late night party scene. But don't judge a bar by its cover kids. The London dive look on the outside only somewhat represents what goes on inside. The great beer selection, whether on tap or out of the cooler, is matched only by the state -of-art jukebox playing anything your fingers can punch up. Please don't be taken back from the absence of a kitchen. The staff at Mary Carrols is more than willing in allowing outside food into their wonderful establishment. I went with a group of 5 or so ladies on a Friday night, around 10 or so. It wasn't as crowded as I expected but I prefer that. We were hopping, so we only had one drink but staff was great and their service was quick, and the crowd was young but friendly. Nice pub with an old timey feel and nice dark wood. I actually really liked this place at first. It's clean, the bouncers and all, except 1 bartender were great. However one of the bartenders, Jake, was an ass. Im sitting at the bar and he is getting the drinks for the people around me and ignoring me. Then as they announce last call, he is the only bartender there and is talking to these girls and not paying attention even as the guy next to me is calling him. The guy walked around to Jake and then Jake got him a drink. The guy tried to help me out by pointing at me and even told Jake that I wanted a bud. Jake looked at me and shrugged...he then comes up to me finally and says bars closed after I had been standing there for 5 minutes. Thankfully one of the other bartenders who was previously "not allowed to get drinks" (only Jake was during last call) saw what was going on and got me my drink. read more

Monthly host of 'Pints and Paws' Happy Hour in warmer months Decor is very Irish pub looking. Cons: Young crowd (especially when college is on break) Unfriendly / disrespectful bouncers. Bathroom situation. Although there are more pros then cons, the reason fo rmy mediocre star rating is due to the nasty fat bouncer at the door whom I've personally witnessed disrespect women many times. The kicker for me was when a young lady was groped my a young man and smaked the 'gentleman' across the face as a result. Clearly wasted, the young man stumbled away and instead of approaching the aggressor the bouncer reprimanded the lady and issued her a warning. While everyone else who witnessed the event applauded the woman for her response and standing up for herself, the bouncer was not pleased. Fast forward 10 mins and that young man was being escorted out by the blonde bouncer (Pat?). He had started trouble inside and was stumbling all over the place. Something that could have been avoided if the other bounce had any sense. I refuse to go May Carrols when I see that man there. It doesn't make me feel safe knowing he's the one in charge. I'm giving this bar a two because the bartender was being shady when we asked for the check on Sunday 08/30/15. When my friends and I first arrived at the bar everything was going well. We had a few drinks ordered a pizza from Little Vincent's and sat outside and enjoyed our pie. We were at the bar for about two hours and had a couple or rounds. When we first got to the bar we gave the bartender a card, and he asked if we wanted on the same check and we said yeah. When we asked for the bill the bartender told us he bought two of the first three drinks, and we graciously thanked him. When we got the bill it was about $30 bucks a person for three people who were being charged for two drinks each. We thought that was odd. Furthermore we never got an itemized receipt. My friends and I all work in the restaurant industry so we're familiar with the micros terminal they use. We were each charged the same amount on 3 different transactions opened at different times. We were all skeptical of why that happened but instead of making a scene we decided to just sign the bill and leave. Be careful of what you're getting charged for when you go to that bar. read more

this is the worst bar in town the red wine was frothy?...... not impossible but unusual ....... when I asked why that was the barman said :" No idea.... we are not known for our wines"......The wine was awful. when I asked what they were known for, if not the wine, he said the beer and the social crowd.... the place was empty... I have never been so disrespected or witnessed such disgusting behavior by employees of a bar before. I'm from out of town and was visiting a friend for the weekend who frequents this bar. We were celebrating my 22nd birthday and I handed the bouncer my state-issued ID which I have never had any trouble with since I am 22 and completely legal to drink. He shook his head and rudely yelled at me to get out of here. When my friend and I tried to explain that it was real and I offered another form of identification, he flung the ID out the door and hit my friend in the face. When she complained about being hit in the face, he shoved my best friend so hard that she dropped her purse, completely unwarranted from such a huge man and which qualifies as assault. He also called another bouncer over who yelled such disgusting vulgarities at her I felt sick. It completely ruined my birthday and my night. I felt violated and humiliated and I know that me and my friends, including someone who her and her family have been customers and supporters of Mary Carroll's for quite a while, will never return. These men should be ashamed of themselves and the manager should know these are the kind of people he is having represent his establishment. I want an apology. read more
